00:00More news coming in, Robert Wadra leaves for day two of the ED grilling is what we know.
00:05Yesterday he was questioned by the ED for six hours in connection with the Skylight Hospitality DLF land deal
00:11which has been under the scanner of the Enforcement Directorate.
00:15Previously he had been issued summons on the 8th of April which he had skipped.
00:19Finally he marched to the ED office yesterday with his supporters.
00:23He was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate for six hours.
00:27Today is day two of Robert Wadra's questioning is what we know.
00:33He said truth will prevail and that he is being targeted.
00:36Ashutosh is getting in more details.
00:38It's day two of questioning.
00:40Ashutosh, take us with the details of what was the line of questioning yesterday.
00:44He was spoken to for six and a half hours or so and what is expected today?
00:53Second day of questioning as you said and earlier also in 2019 Robert Wadra has been questioned.
00:57multiple times and in fact he has been presence with the ED at least more than 10 hours even yesterday.
01:03This is the second day of questioning and since a very old case almost the question that is already
01:08that ED has done and in fact even sending thousands of the pages question at the response has been filed by Robert Wadra.
01:15So this is a physical questioning by the Enforcement Directorate on the second day
01:19and what you see in the images from his residents are likely to come out anytime soon.
01:24So line of the questioning of course is remains on the transactions and the transactions of one property
01:28and then selling it to another, whether there are any conflict of interest.
01:32Now this early morning when Robert Wadra spoke to some news agencies he said that clearly had he been with the BJP
01:39probably this case could not have been like this and perhaps there would not have been case pursued by the agencies.
01:46What you see in these images are the few of his supporters are also here
01:49and so technicalities as far as this case is concerned looking at the magnitude of the probe
01:54that has been literally crawling with a crawling speed by the investigative agency
01:58and it has been nearly taking a decade to just even investigate a case.
02:03So what it more looks like politically taking more epicenter
02:06particularly in the light that we have seen yesterday ED filing charge sheet against Gandhi families
02:12Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and now second day of Robert Wadra.
02:15So more than a merit of the case of the investigation which not only raising question also on the agency
02:20is about the slow and crawling speed of the investigation
02:23and subsequently also on the political aspect of it that we are already seeing outreach by the Congress Party.
02:28I'm also going to go across to Amit Bhardwaj for more on that of course the political fallout of the same
02:34is what we have seen with the Congress and the other members of the opposition.
02:38Amit saying that look at the speed in which the investigation is being done.
02:44In the past the court has in fact told the SIT that there is crawling speed
02:48and why is it taking so long?
02:51What is the option really before Robert Wadra legally speaking?
02:58Well Sneha it's going to be a two side war as far as this case is concerned for Robert Wadra
03:05one obviously being the legal side where he has to respond to the questions of the enforcement directorate
03:11and the agencies that are investigating this particular case
03:13but the other side seems to be more interesting as far as the political optics is concerned
03:19because the kind of political message that Robert Wadra tried to send across yesterday
03:23is very important to note.
03:25He chose to march from his Sujan Singh Park residence to the ED headquarters
03:29you know giving sort of similar pictures to that of Bharat Jodhoyatra
03:33while he was speaking about quote unquote misuse of the central agencies
03:38he said that while Rahul Gandhi is being stopped to speak in the parliament time
03:42being stopped on the ground.
03:43So clearly it was a political message that Robert Wadra wanted to give out
03:48and it has been duly you know accepted as well and has started to resonate within the Congress party's ecosystem
03:55because today what we see is that while the Congress party is holding protests across the country
04:00against the ED action on Sunya Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party leadership
04:06they are also connecting the hint that has been given by Robert Wadra yesterday.
04:11So clearly Congress party trying to push a narrative of a political vendetta
04:15and that's what Robert Wadra must have also wanted yesterday
04:19that the larger picture that's going to be drawn over the allegations of misuse of agencies
04:25he is able to get attached in that narrative as well
04:29and he has successfully been able to do so.
04:31So clearly we'll have to watch out today when Robert Wadra steps in
04:35through this particular lane into the AD headquarters
04:38whether he will choose to speak or stay silent
04:41because yesterday when I spoke to him
04:44he had claimed that political vendetta is being done against him
04:47while after he stepped out of the ED office
04:50after questioning of over six hours
04:53what he said was that same set of questions are being asked from him
04:57the way it was asked in 2019
04:59the questions he has already answered in 2019
05:01so he will continue to respond to those questions.
05:04So clearly two set of battles
05:06one legal the other is political
05:07and Robert Wadra is trying to play as much as political optics he can
05:13but having said that
05:15he will have to respond to the questions of the enforcement directorate
05:18and fight it out in the court as well
05:19if and when the matter reaches the trial stage.
05:23Back to you.
05:23Alright I'm going to thank you for getting in those details.
05:25Thank you for getting in those details.
