In a chilling incident, the body of a 65-year-old woman was found stuffed in a sack and dumped in a canal near Kalandi village under Sardhana police station limits in Meerut district. The woman, identified as Saroj from Daulatpur village in Muzaffarnagar’s Sikhera area, had been missing since April 11, 2025.

According to police, Saroj’s son Avinash had lodged a missing complaint after his mother failed to return home. During the investigation, CCTV footage revealed her brother-in-law, Bhanwar Singh, carrying a suspicious sack on his bike. He returned within 15 minutes, raising police suspicion.

On Monday morning, the woman's body was found floating in the canal. Police suspect Bhanwar Singh murdered Saroj, stuffed her body in a sack, and dumped it in the drain. A case of murder has been registered, and the accused is currently absconding.
