00:00The nation's top soldier reminded his men in the military to always remain professional and stand behind the duly constituted authority slash commander-in-chief.

00:09Given the threats from within and outside the country, our Patrick DeJesus has more on the AFP Chief of Staff's speech on the occasion of the milestone reached by the Philippine Army's 2nd Infantry Jungle Fighter Division.

00:21The armed forces of the Philippines remains open to all options for its multi-role fighter jet or MRF acquisition program.

00:32This, despite the U.S. approval of a possible sale to the Philippines of 20 F-16 fighter jets worth 5 billion U.S. dollars, one key consideration is the availability of funds.

00:44But definitely, gusto natin bumili ng mga multi-role fighters kasi kailangan natin sa pag-depensa ng ating bansa, yung multi-role fighters.

00:53Whether these are the F-16s or the Gripen or whatever other multi-role fighters, pinag-aaralan po natin yan.

01:01Browner said the acquisition of 12 additional F-A-50 jets from South Korea is now more certain, as this has long been part of the AFP's modernization pipeline.

01:13Meanwhile, the AFP chief once again emphasized the importance of maintaining unity and professionalism within the ranks.

01:22This was part of Browner's speech during the 49th anniversary of the Philippine Army's 2nd Infantry Jungle Fighter Division at Camp Capimpin in Tanay Rizal,

01:32where he also stressed that troops here must be prepared to support in defending the seat of government, Metro Manila.

01:39Because of the proximity of the 2nd Infantry Division sa Metro Manila, ito yung isa sa mga divisions na kapag nagkaroon ng gera, for example,

01:49or ng destabilization efforts, itong 2nd ID ang isa sa mga reresponde dito sa threats na ito.

02:00Browner added that it's crucial for soldiers to stay focused on their duties, including defending the West Philippine Sea,

02:08sustaining operations against remaining members of communist terrorist groups, and preparing for the upcoming 2025 national elections.

02:16It's not just a reminder, pero yun yung panawagan natin sa lahat ng mga sundalo, na dapat tayo ay united tayo, and we are always professional,

02:28dahil nga napakaraming mga problema ang hinaharap ng ating bansa.

02:32The 2nd Infantry Division is always solid on the sasenial command, and we always follow the rule of law.

02:40On the other hand, the court-martial proceedings continue for former officials of the Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group,

02:48who are facing various allegations.

02:51But Browner asserted, this is part of due process when the AFP conducts its own investigation.

02:57So, it's not na gusto natin silang managot na wala namang kasalanan.
