00:00The Armed Forces of the Philippines, or AFP, stands firm on its claim it made no promises

00:06to remove the U.S. Typhoon missile system from the country.

00:10This response comes amid objections from China regarding the presence of the missile system

00:15in the country.

00:16PTV's Patrick de Jesus tells us more.

00:22The Armed Forces of the Philippines asserts that no promise was made to remove the mid-range

00:27capability or the Typhoon missile system of the United States from the country.

00:33This was the AFP's response to China's renewed remarks on the presence of the Typhoon missile

00:38system.

00:39China also stated that they will not stand idly on anything that poses a threat to their

00:45security.

00:46The president had previously challenged China to stop its harassment of Philippine ships

00:51in the West Philippine Sea in exchange for returning the Typhoon missile system to the

00:57U.S.

00:58The equipment has been in the Philippines since April of last year.

01:01According to the AFP, training with the Typhoon will continue, especially since it is among

01:07the hardware they plan to acquire.

01:09Meanwhile, enhanced interoperability was showcased

01:39during the 7th Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity between the Philippines, the United

01:44States, and Canada on Wednesday.

01:47It was conducted in the Northern Luzon Command Joint Operational Area within the West Philippine

01:52Sea.

01:53The AFP deployed BRP Andres Bonifacio and AC-90 aircraft, while Canada sent HMCS Ottawa.

02:01The U.S. participated in the presale and monitoring of the activity.

02:05Various exercises were conducted during the MMCA, including an anti-submarine training

02:11target drill.

02:13Despite monitoring three PLA Navy ships, one oceanographic surveillance ship, and a military

02:19helicopter, these did not disrupt the exercises.

02:22The AFP aims to have more countries participate in future multilateral maritime cooperative

02:28activities.

02:29The Philippines also plans to invite South Korea to join the so-called SQUAD, an alliance

02:56formed to promote a free Indo-Pacific.

02:59The group currently includes the Philippines, the United States, Australia, and Japan.
