00:00And we go back to the Ecuador's topic because we have Eduardo Menezes to
00:06deepen in what has been the electoral process in Ecuador. Hello, Eduardo. How
00:12are you? Do you hear me? Yeah, I can hear you. Thank you. Thank you very much for
00:17the invitation. Thank you for being with us. Well, people is denouncing irregularities
00:23in this process. What can you tell us about it because there have been denouncing fraud?
00:27First of all, the past, before the day of the elections. We know that the
00:36institutions, electoral institutions, are controlled by the president, the actual president who is the
00:48candidate of the right wing for this election. We have seen many irregularities even before
00:54violations of the constitution, like letting the president continue in his functions while he's a
01:03candidate, which means he's the state for the campaign. Many irregularities linked to the electoral
01:14institution forbidding the one of the candidates who was against also the actual president to present,
01:21to be presented in the elections. We have seen many things like change in the places for people,
01:28where people were going to vote in the last minute because of so, so told bad weather and this kind
01:37of things. So there was a lot of suspicions even before the day of the election. And now in the
01:42election, we're seeing, I would say, two things. The first thing is that the projected result of
01:49Luisa Gonzalez, the progressist candidate against Daniel Noah, would be at the end, the same result
01:57that she had in the first round, which is politically totally unlikely. It's very unlikely that she's not
02:03going to sum up any vote from the first round of the election to the second round of the election. So
02:08this is already very suspicious. And then we have had a lot of people denouncing how there are some of
02:16the official votes that have been already put into the system, the counting system, which have not been
02:23signed by any of the authorities who were in the places for the vote, for example. So those are totally
02:29illegal votes. That's one of the examples of the things that we are seeing. And there are many of
02:34those. So that is mainly the scenario right now. And we believe that it could be even worse.
02:40Yeah, you can tell us something about the numbers that CNN has been given of these elections that,
02:48of course, are part of the irregularities that we can see.
02:55Yeah, in terms of the numbers, what we are seeing is, I mean, we already saw that in the first round of
03:01the election where there was not a neutral way of starting adding up the numbers. So the the provinces
03:08where we were the the actual president had more votes was being added first. So there was an impression
03:16that Norboa had a very first, very high first numbers that then were started to become lower and
03:24lower. And at the end of the first round, they were almost totally equal in 44%. Now the numbers we are
03:30seeing right now is they are projecting a result of Luisa Gonzalez around 44% of the votes again,
03:37which is totally not possible. I mean, this is because it doesn't have any political sense to think
03:44that she didn't add any vote from the first round to the second round. So that is one of the main
03:51suspicions while we are speaking of the possibility of fraud.
03:53Yeah, thank you very much, Eduardo, for being with us. Thank you.
04:01Thank you very much for the invitation. Thanks. And we continue with our news brief.
