00:00let's talk about getting your swing on plane what does that even mean what is swing plane
00:09well the swing plane is the angle at which your club swings around your body and this is generally
00:15determined by your spine angle initially in the first place it can vary some people go up on one
00:21swing plane and down on another but that's not a very efficient way of swinging so if my posture
00:27is really good and I'm ready to run somewhere I will swing the club up and down on a pretty decent
00:33swing plane that should end up with me hitting good shots if I haven't tipped myself over so my
00:38posture is poor and I'm almost sat down I'm gonna swing the club flatter around my body as a natural
00:45swing path but my swing plane here is never gonna get back down to the ground so I'm gonna have to
00:51start making some pretty juicy compensatory moves to get back to the ball and this is where a lot
00:57of faults start to stem someone who's tipped over way too much we don't see this as much will swing
01:03it up and down too steep and therefore have to stand up and out of their shot so they don't dig a great
01:08big hole down to Sydney it is really important that you get your fundamentals right to start off
01:14with so that's your number one priority if you're trying to swing the club on plane a couple of things
01:19that you can do to ensure that your swing stays on plane or goes up and down on a pretty decent
01:24plane it's first of all check your takeaway so check that very first part of your swing so where
01:30the club travels to in the first part of your swing usually dictates where it goes on the way
01:34back so a club that whips on the inside will either keep going end up flat or you'll learn how
01:39to compensate and then that lifting up and sending the club across the line at the top if a club goes too
01:45far on the outside sometimes it can carry on going up quite steep so it's important you get that first
01:50little bit right so you can do a little bit of mirror work at home setting yourself up to an
01:55imaginary ball on the floor just taking the club to your takeaway point and then checking it you do
02:01want to make sure that club head stays in front a little bit so that's where you want to be if
02:06you're someone who whips it on the inside too much feel like you go out of it and that should set
02:10you in a pretty decent direction on the way back getting your swing more on plane can be really
02:16down to building a nice bit of natural momentum there's a couple of ways that you can do this
02:21there are some fantastic gadgets out at the moment orange whip is one of them this will pretty much
02:26swing the golf club for you up and down the line that you should be swinging it on but if you don't
02:31happen to have one of those in your golf bag get your seven and your eight iron hold them as best you
02:36can a bit like a hammer so you've got your two clubs settle yourself into a decent posture hovering the
02:42clubs just above the ground and just start to build that basic momentum back and through what that'll do
02:48from a swing plane point of view is start to get you a little bit more online up and down so it takes
02:56a bit of the effort out of it and stops you trying to force the issue
