En 1975, la publication d'extraits d'un projet de livre intitulé "Prières exaucées" vaut à Truman Capote une vendetta de certaines amies de la haute société new-yorkaises qui se sentent trahies. En effet, ses personnages sont des versions si proches de ses confidentes qu'il est facile de les identifier. Les secrets que l'auteur révèle vont lui valoir une inimitié sans précédent de celles qu'il surnommait ses "cygnes". Cette deuxième saison de l'anthologie bénéficie d'une distribution prestigieuse avec Tom Hollander dans le rôle de Truman Capote et Naomi Watts, Diane Lane, Calista Flockhart ou encore Chloë Sevigny dans ceux de mondaines vengeresses.
