00:00This is Nirmala, a 67-year-old woman suffering from Parkinson's disease,
00:04who became the first patient in Uttarakhand to receive a brain pacemaker implant.
00:09The surgery took place at Graphic Era Hospital in Dehradun.
00:12Doctors in Uttarakhand have achieved what was once only possible in metropolitan cities.
00:16In this case, the female patient was diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson's disease in 2018
00:31and had been struggling to perform daily activities. She had lost control over her body movements.
00:36Specialist doctors successfully treated the elderly woman through an advanced surgical
00:41technique called Deep Brain Stimulation or DBS. This marks the first case of its kind in Uttarakhand
00:46and nearby regions. Deep Brain Stimulation involves implanting a device that sends
00:51electrical impulses to specific areas of the brain, essentially working like a pacemaker for the brain.
01:11The patient remained awake throughout most of the procedure without anesthesia,
01:15while the neuroanesthesia team was continuously monitoring the patient closely. This procedure
01:20was completed in seven hours.
01:41The brain pacemaker helps regulate the abnormal neural activity responsible for the tremors and
01:46movement difficulties associated with Parkinson's disease and movement difficulties associated with Parkinson's
01:49disease.
01:50And these are our very high success rates. If we select patients properly and do them,
01:56they need to do them.
01:58the brain mud implements the body of the brain are also this.
02:03For more information, it's safe for all people to do withと思います.
02:04So leave the brain to the patient's asking.
02:07The brain can take care of what the cure is.
02:09In fact, I can't expect someone to be ot iK.
02:12The brain may have taken care of since the patient's disease.
02:15The brain can take care of as an overdose as an inflammatory agent.
