New Delhi, April 10 2025, (ANI): Former diplomat KP Fabian, responding to the extradition of 26/11 accused Tahawwur Rana, emphasized that the priority should be uncovering the full scope of the conspiracy behind the Mumbai attacks. He said, "Better late than never. But we should also have a clear idea of what we want to get out of this. In my view, the foremost purpose should be to get as much as information and intelligence on how it was plotted, how it was carried out and who all were involved and even in India, there were people who innocently or otherwise cooperated...So, we should get to know facts as in-depth as possible. Coming to retribution, it is not unimportant but it is less important. Thirdly, we should handle things in such a way that in the future if there is a case which we may need extradition, no one should be able to say that we did not treat this person correctly. So, these are the things. So, we have to be careful about retribution, urge to seek retribution..."

00:00Better late than never, but we should also have a clear idea as to what we want to get out of this.
00:08In my view, the foremost purpose should be get as much information and intelligence on how it was plotted,
00:22how it was carried out, and who all were involved.
00:26And even in India, there were people who innocently or otherwise, I repeat, innocently or otherwise cooperated,
00:40because sometimes people have done it innocently, but sometimes it may not be that innocent.
00:46So we should get to know facts as in-depth, as much as possible.
00:53Now coming to retribution, that is, you know, well, it is not unimportant, but it has lesser importance.
01:07And thirdly, we should handle things in such a way that, touch wood, in the future, if there is a case which we make for extradition,
01:23no one should be able to say that we did not treat this person correctly, you know.
01:33So these are the things.
01:35So we have to be careful about the urge to seek retribution.
01:42Also on him, how do you see other countries, like Pakistan, must be assessing this action?
01:50Sai and Lakshira Toiba, you know, they would be watching this very carefully.
01:56But at the same time, they will act in such a way that, you know, their link or their complicity is not further revealed.
02:09Let me put it this way.
02:10It's already revealed, but not further revealed.
02:13Sir, one of the Congress leaders, Prithvirat Chavan, has spoken on Sahabur Rana's exhibition.
02:21And he has said that he has not confessed to his family.
02:24The American government decided to make heady an informer.
02:27They have included him in their drug enforcement agency.
02:30Yes, sir, I think the crucial thing is that Coleman was permitted to be an approver.
02:42That is a technical term, not informal.
02:45And when you offer to be an approver and when you are accepted as an approver,
02:53then naturally you get lesser punishment, which Coleman was able to do.
02:59But there again, there is a miscarriage of justice, since Coleman had been the more active one.
03:08Rana was there, but comparatively in a subsidiary role.
03:15So there is a miscarriage of justice.
03:18And here the American system is certainly responsible.
03:26Sir, sir, Trump has announced 90-day tariff pause, but hikes China leeway to 125.
03:34Well, naturally the 90-day pause is welcome, but we have to be clear.
03:43This 90-day pause is for the so-called reciprocal tariff, you know.
03:50The earlier tariff announced on Canada and Mexico, they remain.
03:59And of course, equally importantly, the high tariff, 125% on China remains.
04:09Now, Trump has been, what shall I say, why did you do it?
04:15Well, of course, his Treasury Secretary has said that this was to enlarge negotiating space.
04:23He may be right.
04:24But from Trump's own words, it is clear that when his billionaire friends started losing and the losses getting bigger and bigger, no end to it, he wanted to stop it.
04:42So, it is a, what shall I say, it is more a tactical decision, but Trump's attempts at raising tariffs against the trade partners of the United States.
05:03And in the process, he has dealt a blow, heavy blow to the global trading system and the bad impact of that will be there.
