00:00After skipping the second hearing into the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte,
00:05several officials were present for the continuation of the Senate Foreign Relations inquiry.
00:10But nearly three hours into the hearing, Justice Secretary Jesus Remulia could no longer hold back his frustration towards some senators.
00:18Tensions arose after senators questioned the Philippine National Police, or PNP,
00:23regarding the process that led to the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
00:27In his defense, Secretary Remulia said that due process was followed before the arrest order was issued,
00:34stating that the case underwent seven years of investigation.
00:38He also stood firm that the legal process was observed throughout.
00:42A heated exchange also ensued over the issue of extradition.
00:46Secretary Remulia argued that extradition was no longer applicable,
00:50pointing out that the Philippines has already withdrawn from the International Criminal Court, or ICC,
00:55and thus no longer has an existing treaty with the tribunal,
00:59an exit initiated during Duterte's administration.
01:02In the meantime, CIDG Chief Police Brigadier General Nicolás Torre explained
01:07why he had to stop Vice President Sara Duterte from approaching her father at the height of the arrest operation.
