00:00Basic City Mayor Vico Soto speaks out against a smear campaign on social media where people,
00:06including a woman with a mental disability, were made to film videos criticizing his administration
00:11while lining up for charity. In a Facebook post on Thursday afternoon, April 10, Soto pointed out
00:16that some individuals seem willing to do anything for money and power. Citing Social Welfare Secretary
00:22Rex Gachalian's interview, Soto says the department is looking into the quote,
00:26systematic exploitation of PWDs and senior citizens in a negative political campaign in
00:32Pasig City. In a video posted on the Facebook page The Journal Pasig, which has since been taken down,
00:37a woman is seen answering questions from someone off-camera. She says she hasn't received aid or
00:42her PWD pension and hoped for rice from the local government. When asked if she will vote for Mayor
00:48Soto again, she says not anymore and named his rival Sara Deskaya as her choice.
00:53I'm calling out this dirty page, said Facebook user Malaya Scarlet, reported by ABS-CBN to be the
01:00woman's relative. She adds, quote, You exploited my aunt's weakness. How dare you? You use people
01:06who are mentally challenged in your dirty tricks to endorse the candidate you're supporting.
01:10In a statement posted on Diskaya's Facebook page April 11, Team Kaya This said it would
01:15cooperate fully with the authorities in their investigation.
