00:00In today's day of campaigning can be summed up in two words, tropical and Trump.
00:07The election campaign went off-road and into the water.
00:10The Prime Minister touring Green Island, which is located within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park in far north Queensland.
00:17Now that sits within the seat of Leichhardt.
00:19It's a coalition-held seat, but with the retirement of popular MP Warren Ench at the upcoming election,
00:25and Labor believes it really has a chance to get that seat for itself.
00:30Now, Donald Trump's tariffs have loomed large over this election campaign, and today was no different.
00:36While Australian exporters are unlikely to be affected by this tariff pause because of that baseline 10% figure,
00:43there are, of course, concerns that a global trade war could seriously impact the global economy.
00:49And, of course, Australia, like the rest of the world, is very concerned about that.
00:53Prime Minister Anthony Albanese brushed off suggestions of working with China in response to these tariffs
00:59and also said that given the US continues to change its position, Australia must have a considered response.
01:06Take a listen.
01:07Some of the decisions in our region confounded people who were involved in the negotiations.
01:14On that basis, that is why you have to be an adult, not have dial it up to 11 at every opportunity,
01:23which is what Peter Dutton's plan is on everything, and just to say first thing that comes into your head
01:30and then pretend that you haven't said it and wind it back and never talk about it again.
01:36What you need to do in dealing with the United States or dealing with other diplomatic relations as well
01:42is to be consistent and considered.
01:45That's what we're being.
01:46The PM speaking there a little earlier today on Green Island, just off Cairns,
01:51and the caravan has travelled a fair distance since then up to Darwin in the Northern Territory.
01:57And, Steph, what's on the agenda in Darwin?
01:59Yes, Jo, we're always on the move.
02:02We've touched down here in the Northern Territory.
02:05It's the Prime Minister's first trip to the Northern Territory since the campaign began.
02:09And with that, he now checks off having visited every state and territory in the country
02:13since this election began almost two weeks ago.
02:16There are two federal electorates here, Solomon and Lingiari.
02:20Labor holds both of them, but the coalition is also eyeing both of those seats.
02:24Lingiari in particular has a small margin of 1.7%.
02:28It did benefit by boundary distribution, which saw that margin grow.
02:32But 1.7% is still not a big margin, not much wriggle room.
02:36And the coalition really has its eyes on Lingiari.
02:39Peter Dutton has also declared that the coalition could gain Solomon
02:43and said that if the coalition got both seats, it could win the election.
02:47So, much at stake here in the Northern Territory
02:49as we end the second week of this election campaign.
