00:00The Commission on Elections sends a letter to Manila Councillor candidate Moka Oson
00:05expressing, quote, concern about the sexually suggestive parts of her campaign jingle.
00:10In the letter, director Sonia Wi Lozada says that while the commission understands that
00:14political campaigns aim to grab attention and engage voters, they also emphasize the
00:19importance of being direct to the point in addressing voters. Moka Oson's campaign
00:23jingle went viral because of its suggestive lyrics,
00:26Cookie ni Moka ang sarap-sarap, or Moka's Cookie is Delicious.
00:31A new resolution issued on Tuesday April 8 lists moral doctrines, obscene publications,
00:36exhibitions, and indecent shows as prohibited acts during election activities.
00:41Lozada also says that sexually suggestive elements could distract from serious discussions on policy,
00:47governance, and the future of communities. Meantime, House Committee on Women and Gender
00:51Equality chairperson Geraldine Roman also calls out Oson's campaign jingle, saying, quote,
00:57gender should not be used as gimmick.
