00:05The Commission on Elections expresses concern over the sexually suggestive campaign jingle of
00:17Muka Uson. A massive fire on Kanlaon Volcano raises concerns for Negros Islands communities.
00:24Health advocates say Aimee Marcos and Bonga Revilia are hazardous to the health of the nation.
00:29And Narcos Mexico actor Manuel Masalva is now stable after a medical coma following illness
00:35after a trip to the Philippines. The Commission on Elections sends a letter to Manila councillor
00:42candidate Muka Uson expressing, quote, concern about the sexually suggestive parts of her campaign
00:48jingle. In the letter, director Sonia Wilozada says that while the commission understands that
00:53political campaigns aim to grab attention and engage voters, they also emphasize the importance
00:58of being direct to the point in addressing voters. Muka Uson's campaign jingle went viral because of
01:04its suggestive lyrics,
01:05Cookie ni Moka ang sarap-sarap, or Moka's Cookie is Delicious. A new resolution issued on Tuesday,
01:12April 8 lists moral doctrines, obscene publications, exhibitions, and indecent shows as prohibited
01:18acts during election activities. Lozada also says that sexually suggestive elements could distract from
01:24serious discussions on policy, governance, and the future of communities. Meantime, House Committee
01:29on Women and Gender Equality chairperson Geraldine Roman also calls out Uson's campaign jingle,
01:35saying, quote, gender should not be used as gimmick.

02:01A massive fire spreads on the eastern slope of Kanlaon volcano, raising concerns it could cross into the
02:06six-kilometer danger zone and threaten nearby communities and the vulnerable biodiversity of
02:11Negros Island. Authorities say the fire, caused by hot debris from the volcano's eruption on Tuesday,
02:17April 8, is burning grass and trees near the crater and is hard to control. Task Force Kanlaon head
02:23Raul Fernandez says, quote, we cannot risk our men or firefighters to climb the area where the mountain
02:28blaze is currently occurring. It's really risky. Fernandez adds, we have no choice but to pray for rain
02:34or ask God for a miracle to help contain the ongoing Kanlaon fire. Concerned Moises Padilla
02:39town mayor Ella Celestina Garcia Yulo makes a plea on Facebook. She says, quote, Lord have mercy,
02:46God have mercy. We are fervently praying that he may put an end now to this Kanlaon crisis.
02:51The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology says the April 8 eruption,
02:55which lasted 56 minutes, was the longest since Kanlaon became active again in 2024.
03:01Health advocates say that when it comes to taxing health hazards, re-electionist Senators
03:08Aimee Marcos and Bong Revilla have prioritized the tobacco industry's interests over public health.
03:13Action for Economic Reform Syntax Coalition Fiscal Policy Team Lead AJ Montesa says in a press conference
03:20that Sen. Aimee Marcos is known for her connection to the tobacco industry.
03:24The Marcoses have opposed tobacco taxes, believing that the extra taxes would not help the tobacco
03:43farmers and the industry. However, excise taxes support farmers as Republic Act 7171 mandates that 15% of
03:52tobacco excise taxes be used for a special support fund for tobacco farmers.
03:57Aimee Marcos also criticizes the quote,
04:00not equal treatment of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.
04:04Sen.
04:20Health advocates also warned that the Philippines is facing a smoking and drinking crisis.
04:27Narco's Mexico store Manuel Masalva is now in stable condition,
04:31his fellow actor Mario Moran said in an Instagram post.
04:35This after he was put in a medically induced coma upon falling ill following a trip to the Philippines.
04:41Masalva traveled to Dubai on March 18 after spending several weeks in the Philippines,
04:46where his manager Jamie Jaramillo Espinosa said he caught a severe bacterial infection.
04:51Espinosa told the Los Angeles Times that Masalva started feeling quote,
04:55internal discomfort and pain within two days of arriving in Dubai.
05:00He adds that the actor had an emergency surgery on March 26 after doctors identified the type of
05:05bacteria. On March 27, the infection spread to his lungs, causing him to be placed in a medically
05:11induced coma. Meantime, in an interview with Teleradio Servicio, Department of Health spokesman
05:17Albert Domingo says that when news of Masalva's health condition first came out, DOH Secretary Ted
05:22Herbosa directed the department to check the international health regulation systems.
05:27Domingo also says the actor might have caught the infection through food poisoning or swimming with an
05:31open wound.
