00:00Gilbert McGregor is with us here on Newswire.
00:03Gilbert, what an exciting finish there.
00:06I mean, look, this game had everything.
00:08It had defense.
00:09It had some offense.
00:11And it had some drama there in the end.
00:13I know Houston's going to look back and be upset that they didn't get a shot off there.
00:16But naturally, they should be more upset that they had the Gators up 12 and weren't able to close it out.
00:23Absolutely.
00:23Feels like kind of the story of the tournament with a number of teams who were eliminated.
00:27They wish they could have that one back.
00:28And I know that Houston's going to wish they could have that one back.
00:32Like you said, beyond that final possession, not getting a shot up is devastating.
00:35But also knowing that you were up double digits in that second half and seeming like you were firing on all cylinders.
00:41But what we've seen from this Florida Gators team all year, they're relentless.
00:45You can never count them out.
00:46There were times in this tournament where there was a UConn game or the Texas Tech game or even the game in the Final Four against Auburn.
00:53They found ways to win.
00:54They did it again.
00:55And they end up on top because of it.
00:58Now, Walter Clayton Jr., I mean, if you told me he was one of seven from three-point range and three for ten from the field, I would have been very concerned and said the Gators probably don't win this game.
01:10But Will Richard came off the bench.
01:12He had a nice game.
01:13But the bottom line is that, you know, and I heard Kelvin Sampson talking.
01:17We just played a clip from it, Gilbert, is that Houston just didn't really do anything offensively to challenge Florida.
01:24So many missed opportunities there.
01:26I mean, Clayton's going to be a fantastic pro.
01:28He had an off night.
01:29Maybe Houston's defense was the reason for that.
01:31But Houston did everything right except win the game.
01:34You know, thinking about Clayton and it's a conversation I was having with some friends while watching the game is, you know, he was scoreless in the first half and Elijah Martin struggled in the first half and they were only down by two points.
01:44So if you're a Florida, you felt pretty good where you were.
01:47Two of your most prolific players basically hadn't scored in the first half and you were right there.
01:51And it was just basically a waiting game of Will Walter Clinton to make those plays.
01:55He's a big time player.
01:56And even though he only finished with 11 points, some of those buckets that he got were in such big spots.
02:02I think about the three-pointer he got, what they were doing, running options for him to get him open, to knock down some shots, get to the rim, get in the lane and finish around the rim.
02:11And big time players make those types of big time plays.
02:13And he did it exactly when they needed it as a big part of their comeback that they did.
02:17And like you said, Houston could not respond.
02:19LJ Cryer was great in the game, but his moments came a little too early.
02:24And when they needed him most, they weren't able to get anything down the stretch.
