00:00Is it ever too early to look at next year's college basketball odds
00:04in a 2025-26 campaign?
00:07Maybe it's way too early we do so anyway.
00:10Where do the reigning national champs, the Gators,
00:12check in in next year's national championship prices?
00:16Not inside the top 10 DRS.
00:18A 25-to-1 number that is currently the 12th best price
00:23on the FanDuel Sportsbook alongside a host of others,
00:27including Texas Tech, Michigan, Eric Patino, and St. John.
00:32So who is next year's national championship favorite?
00:35This year's preseason national championship favorite as well in Duke.
00:39A 10-to-1 number on the Blue Devils.
00:41Of course, the team could look very, very different from how it did this year,
00:46but plenty more talented freshmen making their way to Durham
00:48to start next season as well.
00:50You're number four under John Shire.
00:52Here's the tough part about it, right?
00:53Because you do see a lot of clusters there.
00:5510-to-1, 20-to-1, 25-to-1, because it used to be, okay,
00:59who are they coming back as seniors?
01:01And also on top of that, who is that recruiting class?
01:03Now that you have obviously the transfer portal,
01:05we don't know who any of these players will be.
01:07Like look at Kansas, 16-to-1 price.
01:08Hey, they might be really good.
01:10Who's staying on that team?
01:11Who are they going to pay to come in on that team?
01:13That's what we don't understand.
01:14But it is fun to try to analyze where certain teams would be
01:17and teams that we're used to not seeing up top, like BYU at 16-to-1,
01:21maybe having the best overall player coming into town,
01:23into their camp for next year.
01:25But it is fun because you get a lot of teams, Ben,
01:27let's just say 35-to-1 or less, that if you know,
01:31I'm not saying like inside information,
01:32like I know exactly the starting five is going to be next year.
01:34You hit it right, man.
01:36Probably the same thing we talked about the Florida Gators to open.
01:38If you pick the Florida Gators from jump last year
01:41and you're sitting at the tournament at a plus 320 price entering in it,
01:44it's one of the best numbers you're going to see.
01:45If you have a lot of conviction about any of these teams,
01:48maybe you can get it now.
01:50Of course, you'd be holding on to a national championship for about a year.
01:53As next year, college basketball's Final Four
01:55in the men's NCAA tournament will be in DRS's favorite city.
01:59That is Indianapolis.
02:01But Donnie, these odds are going to change so much in the next few weeks.
02:06For these teams that just played in a Final Four this weekend in San Antonio,
02:10now they have to deal with the transfer portal.
02:12Players exiting, players declaring for the NBA draft,
02:15and of course those they hope to retain
02:17and then bring in through the transfer portal this offseason as well.
02:22We do think many of those talented freshmen for the Blue Devils,
02:25Cooper Flagg, Con Knipple, come on, Malawatch,
02:28are going to go to the NBA draft.
02:30Who returns and who is coming?
02:32Cameron Boozer, the third best recruit nationally,
02:35and yes, the son of Carlos Boozer,
02:37who played his college hoops in Durham as well.
02:40Might have even been John Shire's teammate under Coach K.
02:43But regardless, Cam Boozer makes his way to Duke.
02:47As you look at the rest of the national championship prices,
02:50Houston will have some experience coming back.
02:52A 12-1 number on the Cougs.
02:54Louisville and Pat Kelsey in a very successful opening year there for the Cards.
02:59Already the best transfer portal class in the country as of this moment.
03:03They've been attacking it in Purdue
03:05with the man you see on your screen right there.
03:08Big Ten Player of the Year in Brayden Smith.
03:10He is expected to return to West Lafayette,
03:13as is Trey Kaufman-Wren,
03:15and they add in one of the best bigs in the transfer portal
03:18in Oscar Clough from South Dakota State,
03:21who averaged 17 points and more than 12 boards per game.
03:24Donnie, I'll say this.
03:25Based on retention and what I know is returning for the Boilers,
03:28I think the number I'm most confident in,
03:31if I had to bet it right now, would be Purdue at a 14-1 price.
03:34That's pretty crazy at that point, too,
03:35because you take a look at the SEC,
03:37we're not expecting a fall-off from them.
03:38Look at the 18-1s coming in.
03:40Coach Cal in Arkansas, 18-1 Auburn,
03:4318-1 Connecticut there out of the Big East,
03:4418-1 for Alabama, and then 20-1 sitting there for Kentucky.
03:48And then, of course, we just talked about the national champion,
03:50the Florida Gators.
03:51So much money to go around now.
03:52It's going to be interesting to see where some of these kids
03:54actually wind up.
03:55But as Ben points out,
03:56right now you're looking at flyers here.
03:58Let me take a couple pieces for a team that I think is going to come back
04:01and I know has some NIL money to spend,
04:02because you might take a look and say,
04:04well, hey, I like Houston,
04:05and they lose three starters there,
04:06and they drop back to 36-1.
04:08But you might take a look at Tennessee at 30-1,
04:10get a couple key transfers.
04:11Now all of a sudden, they're 15-1.
04:13It's a fun market.
04:14It's almost like the stock market this early,
04:16because you don't know how it's going to play off.
04:18You're just trying to take a really good, educated guess.
04:20So,
04:20So,
04:21okay,
04:21let's go,
04:21one of the items in go so you can go.
04:24Schweiz,
04:25would I in-
04:39to be if you don't want to go on,
04:40excuse me.
