Tobin and Leroy react to the Miami Heat loss to the Bucks and give an update on their state in the East. Spo went back away from Kel'el Ware late in games after the rookie struggled with foul trouble. Should he let Ware play through more mistakes?

00:0615 minutes of heat for you on
00:10560 WQ AM brought to you by

00:13the number one Kia dealer in
00:14all of Florida. Get the star
00:15treatment. We want to see you
00:16in a Hollywood Kia. Visit my
00:17line at Hollywood Kia.com. Oh,
00:21yo, welcome back to the show.
00:24Yeah, I've been doing show the
00:26whole break. I mean, yes, just
00:29for the audience. Nobody heard
00:31you. I know, I know, I know,
00:34but it was, uh, but we
00:35appreciate you even though I
00:37told you to go to break just so
00:38we could fix things, but very
00:40selfish of you. Hey, we good.
00:45Are we? Are we? Yeah. Alright.
00:49Uh, the heat they lose over the
00:52weekend. They fell to the
00:53Milwaukee Bucks. Oh my goodness.
00:56I couldn't. So I was driving
00:59and was eating at the time of
01:03the game and I was thinking to
01:07myself, oh, they're going to do
01:09this because I wasn't watching
01:11firsthand. I was kind of just
01:12following. There's a big
01:14difference in following and
01:16watching. Understood. Yeah. If
01:18you have a game, you can see,
01:19you can see the crash when you
01:21watch it, but you don't know
01:23what is really going on when
01:26you're following. And so I'm
01:29like, oh my goodness, what the
01:32hell just happened? Yeah. And
01:35then overtime happened. Nobody
01:37couldn't score, but the other
01:38team that you over time, I mean
01:41like they had a seven point lead
01:43with like three minutes left
01:44and then people heat behavior.
01:46They're like, how do we blow
01:47this? Right. And, uh, your
01:48favorite happened, which is
01:50Eric's poster decided, you know
01:51how we just defend Brook Lopez
01:53little guys, seven foot one guy
01:55being on the bench. Right. Um,
01:58so my question is, is this when,
02:05when I'm watching games, does
02:07it, is it me or does everybody
02:09feel like the team that did the
02:13most to tie the game is usually
02:16the team that goes into the
02:17overtime with momentum. It just
02:22seems, it just always seems that
02:24way. Like if you come back from
02:25a four or five point deficit
02:27with a minute left and then go
02:29into overtime that you, you
02:31kind of can, I would probably
02:33think so. Like one would think
02:35naturally the team that has the
02:36momentum is probably going to
02:37continue to play better, but I
02:38don't know if that's always the
02:39case. I have no idea how to, how
02:40do I even prove that? I don't
02:42know. I just, I said, I asked
02:45you, I didn't say if it was
02:46fact, I said, does it feel like
02:48the team that makes this great
02:51comeback to sometimes you ask
02:53possible questions though, you
02:54would agree. Like, yeah, you
02:55have like sports questions,
02:56impossible question. I'm just
02:58like, we're all sports fans. I'm
03:00just trying to get, does that,
03:02you know, do you get that
03:03feeling when you see a game in
03:05the sport that goes into
03:06overtime that normally the team
03:08with the momentum. Well, I
03:10think, yeah, I would think so.
03:12Okay. That's it. It wasn't a
03:14factual statement. I'm like not
03:16like the heat had the momentum
03:18out of, out of overtime and then
03:19they didn't like, you know,
03:20then it was, then it flipped.
03:22So it's kind of a weird, I
03:23don't know what the rules are.
03:24Well, because I'm saying that,
03:27um, Milwaukee went on this, this
03:30charge to tie the game right at
03:33the end of it. So when they go
03:35into the playoffs, I mean, when
03:36they go into the overtime, I'm
03:38just thinking the heat got to
03:42turn it around to win because
03:44they haven't been playing well
03:45the last couple of minutes. I,
03:47uh, I think, you know, fouling
03:49and intangibles. Oh, that's not
03:52good. And then, uh, yeah. Brooke
03:54Lopez being like, Ooh, look,
03:56six, eight guys, easy scores.
03:58You know what's interesting. I
03:59actually found an answer to the
04:00Lee worst question. Did you? I
04:02was like, how the hell do I even
04:03ask this on Google? But as you're
04:05a hold on, but you're Googling
04:07is very shady. Your Googling has
04:10been very questionable. Like you
04:14told us the biggest comeback of
04:15all time was nine points. And I
04:17stand by that. Okay. Okay. So
04:20potentially this could be a lie,
04:22but they cited a doctor who
04:24could be a fake doctor, but a
04:26study by people who could
04:28potentially be fake analyze 11
04:31NBA seasons and found that, uh,
04:33MBAT or found that teams that
04:35came back to tie the game in the
04:37fourth quarter did not win more
04:39often overtime than their
04:40opponents. Okay. Okay. So like,
04:44so it was just, it's even
04:45Stephen or it's less. Uh, and
04:49then what's the comeback? Like
04:50what's the threshold. Does it
04:52have to be a clutch? Wait a
04:53minute. Wait a minute. Minus one
04:55for asking the same ridiculous
04:57questions I ask and not
04:58everybody. No, no, no, no. Hey,
05:01don't be answers guy. And then
05:03be like, well, I don't have
05:04answers. Like he interrupted us
05:06saying I have the answer. Hey,
05:08Hey, minus one with that right
05:12there. You ask a ridiculous
05:15question. You started the
05:20segment with a ridiculous
05:21question. Yes. He comes up here
05:23with his little webbed hand.
05:24It's like, but he doesn't really
05:27have the answer. I totally have
05:29the answer. I don't think you
05:30know. What do you want? I got
05:31all. Okay. I have a table in
05:32front of me, which is legit
05:34because now we're on science to
05:35write. If there's one thing I
05:36don't trust you, it's reading a
05:37graph. No, it's an English.
05:40All right.
05:50Can I just say this? Yeah.
05:53Let's leave this conversation
05:55because once you just said the
05:57graph was in English, that
05:59means you have no idea what
06:01you're reading. No, it's totally
06:03zero. I have this. He's good.
06:07He is. Oh, yeah. Strong. Do
06:09good. Tall, strong, tall. Oh,
06:11look, the graph says that. Oh,
06:13it says that big, big, the heat.
06:17I just got it. Look, here's the
06:19thing. I think Spo. I don't
06:22mean to always come back to
06:23Spo because obviously he's a
06:24coaching genius. He tries to go
06:29to the slow-mo. Well, a little
06:30too much. He's got a little too
06:32in love with the slow-mo. Well,
06:34Hey, it's not that I don't like
06:36a little slow-mo in my life. You
06:37think somebody, you think Chris
06:38Quinn said, Spo, Spo, Spo, I'm
06:43not trying to be disrespectful
06:46but and he's got his hand
06:47covered with his paper, you
06:49know, because he don't want
06:50nobody else to hear this. Spo,
06:53I'm not trying to be
06:54disrespectful but you think you
06:57can guard Giannis and that big
07:01ass twin with a guy nicknamed
07:05slow-mo asking for a friend.
07:08Spo's just like savvy. He's
07:10going to do it.
07:19You know what? His hairline is
07:22going to be farther back in his
07:23head for everybody blowing by
07:25him. Look, in fairness to slow-mo,
07:26he did give him the lead with
07:27free throws but then like, you
07:29know, he missed it at the end.
07:31I mean, how quick were they
07:33responding? Like, all I kept
07:35seeing was, oh, he take a leap.
07:36Whoop, Brooke Lopez. Yeah.
07:39Giannis, they were going right
07:40down to, can we get a little bit
07:43of resistance? I just want, I
07:45know he was in foul trouble for
07:46a lot of the game but I'd really
07:48just like, if we're going to
07:49have a season where we have a
07:51losing record, I'd really like
07:54the seven foot one kid to close
07:56out games. Silly me, I know,
07:59untrained eye, I'm selfish, I'm
08:01a bum but I'd really like the
08:03rookie to close out the games.
08:05You know what? I don't have to
08:08be a genius or I don't have to
08:11be a coaching guru to know one
08:14thing. Milwaukee was killing us
08:18with tall guys and we didn't
08:20have our tall guys on. Yeah.
08:22Like, I don't know what, I
08:24would've said, hey, Kalel, this
08:27is the time. You either do or
08:30you don't but use up all your
08:32fouls. Make sure they don't.
08:34Where I was getting cooked all
08:35game. I understand but Cody,
08:38Cody, he was getting bullied.
08:41Giannis! And I don't know, call
08:44me crazy but what are we doing?
08:48Like, we're sitting here and
08:50we're talking about the
08:51difference between the 9-10. Get
08:53the kid out there once you feel
08:55it's an appropriate time. You
08:57just had him out there. He got
08:59called a pigeon and I still
09:01don't know what that means but
09:03he got called a pigeon and they
09:05lost to John Moran. Good
09:06learning lesson for him. Get his
09:08ass back out there and have him
09:10learn something. I don't
09:12understand. You're going to,
09:14you are out here, Spoh is out
09:16here and he's trying to squeeze
09:18every last drop out of slow-mo
09:21that there is. And look, you
09:24know, it's, look, to be fair,
09:26it's been very positive. I'm not
09:28against, I don't want no slow-mo
09:31but there comes a point where
09:34you got to put the slow-mo away.
09:36We need somebody maybe a little
09:38bit more fleet of foot. A little
09:40taller. Even though he may not,
09:44you know, be able to stay in
09:46front, I would at least like at
09:48some point, here's what I say.
09:52When is the right time to get
09:54these reps so he knows how to be
09:57better in those situations
09:58because it ain't working in the
10:00heat building, not on game day.
10:03You need to go against Giannis
10:05and Brooke Lopez and all these
10:08big dudes to learn how to play
10:10against them.
10:11Gaffman says Tobin, the heat
10:12want to get in the playoffs.
10:13We're getting playing time in
10:16winning time is situation for
10:17now. No, it's not. No, it's not.
10:19No, it's not. You're in the
10:21play-in. You're going to be in
10:22the play-in. There's no more,
10:24you know, eight, nine, you're
10:26probably going to end up in the
10:279-10, like most likely. Most
10:30likely. This isn't situational.
10:33Get his ass out there because
10:34you want to know something? What
10:36you should do is get his ass
10:38ready to go up against those
10:40twin towers in Cleveland and I
10:42don't know what him sitting on
10:44his cheeks is going to do for
10:45that. It's been my, it's been
10:47our biggest issue all year. Yep.
10:49I don't understand it. And also
10:51I don't understand it. So please
10:55I'm not against slow-mo being
10:57out there. Just saying there has
11:00to be a time, especially when
11:02there's a giant ostrich out
11:03there getting to the basket
11:05willy nilly. I would like to
11:08have another option. That's just
11:10me. I understand Giannis is very
11:13tough and he fed him three
11:14fouls. That being said, let him
11:17once time pertains to go back
11:20out there and give it another
11:22shot. Agreed. That's it. Which
11:25which is what we've been
11:27arguing about all year. Like you
11:32see, you see moments where
11:37Kalel is, looks like he's got
11:40his footing and he's playing
11:41well. But if you want
11:43consistency, you can't play him
11:46erratically. He's got to fight
11:49through some of those struggles
11:50that he has in the game because
11:52guess what? Everybody else on
11:55the team has been struggling at
11:57times. Hence the 10 game losing
11:59streak. Hence the giving up all
12:03the third and fourth quarter
12:05losses. My whole team has been.
12:08So why wouldn't you put him in
12:10these situations to help him be
12:14better in the future? Uh, by the
12:17way, Giorno says, where was plus
12:20five? Anderson was minus 11. I'm
12:24not even saying that's normal
12:25play bad because I don't think
12:26that he did play bad. I'm just
12:27saying you're going to have
12:28slopes, have some out there with
12:29a mouth. I don't care, but I
12:32don't understand that. Like at
12:33the end of the game, a little
12:35deterrent at the rim for the,
12:36for the tall guy, because you
12:38already got, you've already
12:39worn Bam down because Bam is
12:41trying to slow down Giannis,
12:42which you didn't really slow
12:43down Giannis, but you're trying
12:45like you're trying to make him
12:46work, right? Like Bam's going to
12:48be on Giannis at the end where
12:49Giannis surprisingly took a
12:50fadeaway jumper. Don't really
12:52understand that one, but
12:53whatever. He ended up winning
12:54anyway. Just need extra five
12:55minutes, but I don't know. I
12:58just call me crazy. I think that
12:59we, you know, have, have the
13:01tall guy out there. Peace,
13:03please. Anyway, we've been
13:07fighting. We've been fighting
13:09this fight Tobin all year. We've
13:14been fighting this fight. And
13:18maybe it's something that, you
13:21know, because sometimes young
13:25players have, don't have the
13:31right mentality, right? Maybe he
13:35pouts or maybe, you know, the
13:37CEO, the, you know, white side
13:39thing. I don't think he does. I
13:41don't think he does either. He
13:43just, I think he just, I think
13:44he does things that are young. I
13:46think he does. But how do you
13:48get it? How do you stop doing
13:49young things? Repetition? One
13:51would think. Yeah. One would
13:53think. And especially like,
13:54look, if it's not like a, this
13:56isn't like a Jaime situation
13:57where like Jaime looks lost out
13:59there. I don't think where it
14:00looks lost. I think he makes
14:01some young mistakes. Have him
14:04close it out. Uh, the heat
14:06is back. They're back at it
14:07tonight though. They take on
14:09the Philadelphia 76ers who have
14:11lost 11 in a row. They ain't
14:15even trying. They quit trying.
14:16They quit trying. Yup. Uh, is
14:19it home? It's home boots on the
14:21ground. Your boots on the
14:22ground. Boots on the ground
14:23tonight. Boy, how quick can you
14:28name five? Uh, when you get
14:30there and see them practicing,
14:33how soon will you be able to
14:35name five players who from the
14:38Sixers? I know they have
14:39Quinton Grimes. Quinton Grimes
14:42is scoring all their points
14:43right now. I know. Is he
14:44healthy? Still? They got
14:46Yabusele from the, from the
14:48Olympics.
14:55Yabusele. Hey, Yabusele. I'm
14:57a, I'm a, I'm a wait until
14:59I'm a wait until after Lint.
15:07Hey, you know what I'm saying?
15:09I'm not saying it because you
15:12know, is, uh, is Quinton Grimes
15:15hurt Marcos? No, he, uh, as he
15:18played the last game. Yeah. As
15:19of two days ago, he played
15:20against the Timberwolves, put up
15:2128. All right. So here, you
15:23know, we're selling. Who else
15:25they got? Who's healthy? Maxi's
15:28out. Lowry's out. They traded
15:30Caleb Martin. Oh no. I'm not
15:33reading that Florida man, but
15:36I'm going to just say this.
15:41Dade South says that, uh, Leroy
15:43is circumventing. I did not say
15:46nothing. You said you, I don't
15:48know. That is a good point.
15:49Like if you're thinking it in
15:50your heart, I wasn't thinking
15:52it. I literally said you were
15:56some things that could be said,
15:58but because it's lit, I'm not
16:00even. Nope. I don't know. I got
16:04no more sixes for you. I'm
16:05blanking. I know. Isn't that
16:07crazy? Well, we've seen bad.
16:09We've been watching this
16:10basketball all year. Who were
16:13their starters last game?
16:15All right. We have, you said
16:16Yabu Sally and, uh, Quinton
16:18Grimes. We already got those
16:19out of the way. Right. Other
16:20than that, you can add in 32
16:22minutes from Jared Butler. I
16:24would have never gotten that
16:25plus 15 though. Pretty good.
16:28Uh, 16 points for him. Uh, Adam
16:31Bona, as we all know, our boy
16:33Adam Bona put up 24. Oh yeah.
16:36He played in the last game
16:37against the heat. I remember
16:38that name. 24 minutes, uh, four
16:40points for him. Wow. Oh, you
16:42know what? You will remember
16:43this man. Uh, 38 minutes. Lonnie
16:46Walker, Lonnie Walker's on the
16:48Sixers. He's been around for a
16:51minute, right? Yeah. He played
16:53the most minutes former Kane,
16:55but, uh, did not, did not
16:58start. I'm looking at the
16:59lineup right now. Wow. Justin
17:01Edwards never would've gotten
17:03that starter. Yeah. Uh, on the
17:05bench though, I think, uh,
17:06Marcus Bagley, that sounds
17:08vaguely familiar. No, I think
17:09you're thinking about the other
17:11baggy. You think about former
17:12number two pick Marvin Bagley.
17:14So there's no relation. I don't
17:16know. There could be a
17:17relation. I'm not saying
17:18there's not a relation, but
17:19you're right. I was thinking
17:20of wrong. So with that being
17:21said, no, there's maybe once
17:24even Jalen hood Shafina who was,
17:27I think it wasn't even the
17:28Lakers first round pick like two
17:29years ago. Um, man, he was, he
17:35was the first round. He was
17:36taking like right after Hawkins
17:37or right before Hawkins pick
17:38number 17. Hey, so on him
17:42quickly. Huh? Well, maybe,
17:44maybe we should, uh, consider
17:46the same, you know, when I
17:48think about Kalel, I want to
17:49get back to this for like a
17:50quick hot second. When I watch
17:54Cleveland play, they got two
17:57big dudes, but one of them's
17:59always in foul trouble and they
18:00just keep putting them out
18:01there. I mean, same thing with
18:05Memphis, Jared Jackson. Oh my
18:08goodness. He, he not selling
18:10himself short. He getting his
18:12and they kind of develop him
18:16through all that, right? You
18:19can't go, son, I can't play you.
18:21If you keep getting files, I'm
18:23a big, that's what I do. Well,
18:27it's also unfair. Cause it's
18:28like you have Bam as like your
18:30guy next to you who never
18:31fouls. And it's like, right.
18:37You know, they're like always
18:38going to like, well, Bam didn't
18:40do it. Sick of this guy. Mr.
18:45Perfect. Play so hard and he
18:48never fouls. And he takes on
18:52guys way bigger than him all
18:53the time. I don't know. I just
18:57think sometimes Kalel is a
18:59deterrent. Of course he is. And
19:03I think that, that is, you
19:08know, and I think you can't
19:11expect Kalel to play like Bam.
19:15Bam's awesome at playing
19:16defense against everybody.
19:18Kalel's not, but I would say the
19:22way he played John Moran at the
19:25end of that game, you look at
19:27it and say, okay, so maybe he
19:30can move his feet a little bit.
19:31Maybe he can, let's work on
19:33that. Right? Because you see
19:35the promise and his ability to
19:38stay in front of a guy who's
19:40like a water bug. You see it.
19:44So why can't we just coach that
19:46up? I will say, speaking of Bam,
19:48the one thing that I should
19:49mention from him, because he did
19:50have a very good game. He had a
19:51very good game, not as strong as
19:53second half. Cause he came out
19:54guns blazing. I, my, I mean, if
19:57I'm going to excuse machine for
19:58him, I kind of think he got
19:59worn down because they played
20:00him a lot of minutes. He's the
20:01only guy who can guard Giannis.
20:03Um, and then he got a couple of
20:05buckets in overtime, you know,
20:07he couldn't hold on, but there's
20:10three point shot for Bam wider
20:12base, dude. I'm telling you
20:13right now. I'm telling you right
20:19now. It's a thing. It's a thing.
20:21And also it's a thing. And I
20:23think tonight, what do you want
20:25me to ask or not? I kind of do.
20:28Do you want me to ask water
20:29base? Okay. So are you going to
20:32mention, what if I ask one of
20:33the coaches, if I don't ask him
20:34because I don't want to get in
20:35his head? Oh yeah. That's right.
20:37What if I just go to a water
20:38base? Yeah, that's probably
20:41best. Right? Because then you're
20:42not, no one can accuse you of
20:43being a mush. Right? I don't
20:45want to be accused of you guys
20:46have already accused me of, of,
20:47Oh no, no, no, no, no. You have
20:52not, you have not been accused
20:56of being a mush. You have been
20:59convicted as a mush. We, we
21:04have brought several situations
21:06to the judge and he threw the
21:09book at you. So don't say
21:11accused mush. You have been
21:14convicted and you're a note. If
21:16mush was a felony, yo ass would
21:19be in jail. What if this
21:20warrior's pick ends up getting
21:22us the whale? If the warriors
21:25pick ends up getting us a whale
21:27in my back? No. Why? Because
21:32wait, even with all of your
21:34mushiness, you still were the
21:37only one saying I would have
21:38paid Jimmy. That's right. And
21:40guess what? Those 11 points or
21:4314 points he's scoring with
21:44wouldn't have helped this team
21:46that damn much. They needed
21:48scoring. They got killed
21:49yesterday by the rockets. You
21:52know why? But they did beat the
21:55that's a team that runs up and
21:57down, just run, run, run, run,
21:58run, run, and plays incredible
21:59defense. They did. Uh, they did
22:02beat the Lakers. Yep. So
22:05stomped on. Okay. See this
22:07West, this West, uh, we'll
22:09close out for him as a, this
22:10West race right now. Oh my God.
22:12There's like five teams with the
22:13same record. And now you start
22:15doing, this is, there's so many,
22:17I was watching sports center
22:18this morning and Wendy was
22:22saying the team in fourth is
22:24actually in seventh place. Yep.
22:26They're not in fourth because
22:28the tie breakers, they don't
22:29have a tie break over anybody.
22:31Well, yeah, your tie break and
22:33your tie break. I think it's
22:34head to head amongst everybody.
22:35If they finished with the same
22:36record. Right. I think that's
22:38how it works. But right now the
22:41nuggets, Clippers, Warriors, and
22:45Timberwolves all have 32 loss
22:47and the Grizzlies all have 32
22:48losses. Nuggets are up a half
22:50game because they have 47 wins
22:52instead of 46. Right. But they're
22:54not, but they don't have the tie
22:56break against anybody. So as
22:57soon as somebody else wins a
22:59game, they're going to fall all
23:01the way down. Warriors could
23:04still fall on the plan. They
23:06have the suns, they have who
23:11else they have the Spurs. They
23:13should win that trouble. This
23:15has been frisky. And then the
23:17Clippers who are good.
23:19All right. Is that a, is that a
23:22shock when, when they, when the
23:26Clippers got rid of Paul George,
23:28we were thinking, Oh, they just
23:30reset. Like they're trying to,
23:32but they've been pretty good.
23:34They've been very good. Yeah. So
23:36is that, is that surprising to
23:38you? Because it is to me because
23:40once they started making trades,
23:42you're thinking, Oh, they're
23:43just, you know, uh, I think the
23:45guy who's probably surprised me
23:47the most with how dominant he's
23:49been, especially against the
23:50heat and the game is Zubach.
23:51Zubach. He's a moose. I don't
23:54know his first name. I know it's
23:55an eye. I something Igor Evac,
23:58uh, something it's Zubach. You
24:00know, he might as well be like
24:01Ichiro one name. Oh man. Uh,
24:06Vodka. Yeah. It's just Zubach
24:09Zubach Zubach dude.
