00:00Hi everyone, I'm here with the star at Leah's Yard in Sheffield today.
00:04It's a hub of independent shops featuring makers and creators right in the heart of the city centre.
00:11So let's have a walk around and see what's going on here.
00:14So we're outside the McKee Gallery, which is where artist from Sheffield, Pete McKee, sells and displays his paintings.
00:21So if you're a fan of his artwork, Leah's Yard is definitely the place to be. Let's go have a look.
00:27So as you can see, we've got a lot of Sheffield themed artwork, which just celebrates Sheffield culture.
00:38We've got the famous Snog painting here on a print. We've also got a guy making hen dough.
00:44The essence of Sheffield truly is.
00:46Here we are at the Hop Hideout. Again, another lovely bar, pub right in the middle of Leah's Yard.
00:52You can just imagine yourself here on a nice summer day with a beer in hand.
00:56And the great thing about this place is beers and ales. A lot of them are made in Yorkshire and Sheffield.
01:02So if you want a bit of hometown brew, come here.
01:06As you can see, Leah's Yard isn't just limited to one story of amazing local businesses.
01:13We've also got a second story up here. We've got a barbershop over here, the Kellam Barber.
01:18Over here, we've got a bookstore. We've got Mesters Market, Sheffield's own, at the back.
01:23And coming soon here, we've got a wine shop, which looks amazing.
01:32And my favourite part of Leah's Yard has to be the chocolate bar.
01:36So let's go and have a look and see what's going on there.
01:39So I start a bully in chocolate and we import cocoa beans and make chocolate entirely from scratch.
01:44And this is our first sort of standalone cafe concept called Chocolate Bar.
01:48So all the chocolate we make in Sheffield, we serve it up right here in Leah's Yard.
01:56Craft chocolate is a bit of a new one to most people because most people are used to hot chocolate being made from cocoa powder and that sort of thing.
02:04So we're actually importing cocoa beans and stone grinding it with cane sugar.
02:08So it's literally like two ingredients.
02:10And when I started bullying back in 2016, there was only around five or six companies in the UK genuinely making chocolate from scratch.
02:18So still a lot of the people that you know who work with chocolate are known as chocolatiers.
02:22So someone who buys, you know, really good quality chocolate and then melts it into bars, truffles, that sort of thing.
02:28We're kind of going the step back. So to have an outlet that just sells, you know, a chocolate of that quality.
02:34I think it's like the first place in the UK to do it, but for it to be in Sheffield, obviously it's my hometown.
02:39So it's super exciting.
02:41In the summer, what do you think is going to be the main thing on the menu that people come here and order?
02:45So we sell, when you come in, you can basically build your own hot chocolate.
02:49So your first option is hot or iced.
02:51So obviously in winter, hot's going to be your go to, even though we did sell a lot of cold chocolates.
02:56But I think in the summer months, a nice iced chocolate would go down a treat.
03:01You can add any flavour you want.
03:03We also do a range of like fine spirits.
03:05So if you like a boozy iced chocolate, you can do that as well.
03:09How do you customize your hot chocolate?
03:15You can actually customize your hot chocolate straight from whichever chocolate you want.
03:20The strength, all of that good stuff.
03:22We're going to go for the 60 today.
03:24A nice, happy medium.
03:26So yeah, could I get one 60 please?
03:29How do you make your hot chocolate?
03:34We've got a hot chocolate and a cake here to try.
03:37So let's give it a go.
03:39That is phenomenal.
03:41It's so rich, so creamy.
03:43It's not just like a normal hot chocolate.
03:45It's really got like a huge depth of flavour to it.
03:49That is phenomenal.
03:51I'm going in for another sip.
03:52So good.
03:53I mean, what a treat to have this just on your doorstep in Sheffield.
03:57Opposite the chocolate bar as you leave Leah's Yard is Cambridge Street Collective,
04:01which is actually the biggest food hall in Europe, right in the heart of Sheffield.
04:06So we're at Cambridge Street Collective now,
04:08which is Europe's biggest food hall in the heart of Sheffield.
04:11So we're going to go have a look, see on its three floors what it has to offer.
04:16Cambridge Street Collective distributes its food vendors across three different floors,
04:21not even including the amazing roof terrace it has with great views of Sheffield landmarks.
04:27You can see the winter gardens as well as the cheese grater from here
04:31in an ideal setting for drinks on a sunny day.
04:34The food hall consists of a variety of vendors selling different foods from all around the world.
04:39There really is something for everyone, including the classics like pizza.
04:43There's also a noodle bar and a sushi restaurant on site.
04:47There's additionally multiple photo booths, a darts room and a kids play area.
04:52The perfect place to come have a drink and enjoy some food in Sheffield city centre.
04:56If you're planning on visiting Cambridge Street and Leah's Yard soon,
04:59just look out for the Pete McKee mural to find it.
