00:00By the way, we finally saw The Deer Hunter, that movie was hilarious.
00:05Hilarious?
00:06Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the top 10 SNL impressions done in front of the actual person.
00:14Is it like this? What? Wow!
00:16No, no, no, no, what?
00:18And Anthony Benedetto, maybe you can open up for me sometime.
00:21Really?
00:21Don't hold your breath.
00:22This Nick is calm and stealthy, like a ninja warrior.
00:27Whereas this Nick is an exaggerated, screaming psychopath.
00:31For this list, we're looking at Saturday Night Live cast members doing celebrity impressions in front of the actual celebrities being imitated.
00:38What's your favorite impression? Let us know in the comments below.
00:46Now one of the biggest movie stars in the world, Adam Sandler got his start on Saturday Night Live in the early 90s.
00:52Nearly 25 years after his firing, Sandler returned to host and starred in a skit called Sandler Family Reunion.
00:59Well, hello, Mr. Hollywood, you big shot.
01:02This skit had the cast doing impressions of Sandler and his characters.
01:05These included some absolutely killer impressions from Pete Davidson as Little Nicky.
01:09Excuse me, may I have everyone's attention, please?
01:14Hello, Sandler.
01:16Hey, how are you doing?
01:19Melissa Villasenor as Bobby Boucher.
01:21I see that figure on the big old screen and I said, hey, that's me up there now.
01:26And Jimmy Fallon, whose absolutely amazing impression caused Sandler to break character.
01:35Fallon actually originally auditioned for SNL by doing an impression of Sandler for Lorne Michaels.
01:40The notoriously stoic Michaels broke down and laughed, and we can see why.
01:44One, two, three.
01:47How are you?
01:49Number nine, Jimmy Fallon as Jerry Seinfeld.
01:52Fallon is indeed an incredible impressionist, complete with a surprisingly huge arsenal of celebrities.
01:58And taking the counterpoint is former television star Jerry Seinfeld.
02:02Okay, thanks, Colin. Thanks a lot, buddy.
02:04After impressing Lorne Michaels with his aforementioned audition, Fallon debuted on SNL in September of 1998.
02:10One year later, he was doing an impression of Jerry Seinfeld in front of Jerry Seinfeld.
02:15Jerry, what are you talking about? I love the gap.
02:18The two star together in a weekend update segment with Fallon dressed like Seinfeld.
02:22Fallon could barely get through his opening lines without laughing.
02:25But he did manage to compose himself and perform one of the all-time great Jerry Seinfeld impressions.
02:30We're gonna dress you up in a vest. We're gonna dress you up in a vest.
02:33Close your eyes and listen. It's hard to tell who's who.
02:36I know you're kidding. I know you're kidding about me. Kidding, I'm kidding.
02:39Wanna go see a movie? Yeah!
02:42Number eight, Will Ferrell as Janet Reno.
02:45SNL loves to poke fun at politicians, and Janet Reno was no different.
02:49Reno was the first female Attorney General of the United States, serving from 1993 to 2001.
02:55Now it's time for a segment of the show that I like to call Teen Talk,
02:58where I roll up my sleeves and shoot straight with the kids of today.
03:01Reno was far more high-profile than her predecessors,
03:04and Will Ferrell became known for his hilarious Reno impression on Saturday Night Live.
03:10He continuously starred as the Attorney General in a segment called Janet Reno's Dance Party,
03:15which saw Reno dancing with a group of teenagers in a basement.
03:18It's time to say goodbye. I guess the dance party is finally over for once and all.
03:29It's Reno!
03:31However, Ferrell was going more for parody than outright impression,
03:34telling the Washington Post, quote,
03:36Reno appeared on SNL on her last day as Attorney General,
03:39appearing for a dance party alongside Ferrell, to wild applause from the audience.
03:44What do you do when you get sad?
03:46I just dance. Now, hit it!
03:51Number seven, Sherry Oteri as Judge Judy.
03:54After finding success with the comedy troupe The Groundlings alongside Chris Kattan and Will Ferrell,
03:58Ferrell's career took a turn for the worse.
04:02After finding success with the comedy troupe The Groundlings alongside Chris Kattan and Will Ferrell,
04:06Sherry Oteri was hired as a repertory performer on SNL for the 1995-96 season.
04:12She remained on the show for five years.
04:14In that time, Oteri became quite famous for her celebrity impressions,
04:18one of which was television legend Judge Judy.
04:21Look at me. Look at me, okay?
04:23I'll take a pig to the butcher when I want to eat bologna.
04:26Judy Shindlin cameoed on SNL on October 17th, 1998,
04:30appearing in a sketch that saw Oteri impersonating the famous TV judge.
04:35I've seen enough, Sherry. Get up.
04:37But I'm gonna...
04:39Get your bony ass out of my chair. Get up.
04:42Midway through the skit, Judge Judy appeared to rapturous applause
04:46and tapped Oteri on the shoulder, telling her to get her...
04:49...bony ass...
04:50...out of the chair so the real judge can take over.
04:52You keep your trap shut and get a life.
04:55And take over she did, proving a great sport in the process.
04:59What rules in favor of the plaintiff?
05:01Now, Sherry, let's go talk about those eyebrows.
05:03It wasn't my idea.
05:07This politician has long been a subject of SNL impressions,
05:10with Kate McKinnon, of course, doing an admirable job.
05:13Hey, bartender. Keep them coming.
05:18But Amy Poehler will forever remain the queen of the Hillary Clinton impression.
05:22Thanks for having me.
05:24Thank you for coming. I love your outfit.
05:26Poehler had been doing a Clinton impression for years,
05:29and she performed it face-to-face with Clinton herself
05:32on the March 1st, 2008 episode of Saturday Night Live.
05:35Do you want the earrings back?
05:36Oh, okay.
05:40Clinton appeared during the episode's cold open,
05:43when she was a candidate in the 2008 Democratic presidential primary.
05:46Do I really laugh like that?
05:48Oh, yeah.
05:49After Clinton referenced Poehler's famous impression,
05:52Poehler came on stage and proved that she is one of the best in the biz.
05:59This late, great host of Jeopardy! always had a good sense of humor,
06:03even when the subject was himself.
06:05Trebek appeared in two episodes of Saturday Night Live,
06:08including the May 18th, 2002 episode,
06:11in which he appeared opposite Will Ferrell impersonating him.
06:19Ferrell had become famous for his impression of Trebek
06:21in a recurring skit called Celebrity Jeopardy!
06:23Like his impression of Janet Reno,
06:26Ferrell is going more for parody than outright impression,
06:28remaining in his own voice but dressing as the famous Jeopardy! host,
06:32complete with his iconic mustache.
06:34Those celebrities did not know the right answer to any of your questions.
06:39No, they did not.
06:40They were very stupid.
06:42You got that right.
06:43Unfortunately, Trebek had shaved his mustache by this point,
06:46as he proved when he walked out to escort Ferrell from the podium.
06:50Two Trebeks.
06:51I feel like I'm in a raisin brand commercial.
06:53Two scoops of fruit.
06:55Back off, foundry.
06:56I don't have to take that from you.
06:58Number 4.
06:59Jim Brewer as Joe Pesci.
07:01This iconic American actor may be the nicest guy on the planet,
07:05but he will forever be linked to his intense gangster characters
07:09like Tommy DeVito and Nicky Santoro.
07:11I'm gonna take this, it's okay.
07:12Okay, yeah.
07:13I just need it for a little while.
07:14Bring it back, though, you know.
07:15Case in point, the recurring SNL segment The Joe Pesci Show.
07:18Hey, everyone!
07:20I'm Joe Pesci!
07:24In which Jim Brewer played a violent and easily offended Pesci,
07:27who often loses his temper and assaults his talk show guests.
07:30I know you do more than beat up people.
07:32Oh, no, I don't.
07:34During the April 12, 1997 episode,
07:37Pesci and Robert De Niro made surprise cameo appearances in the sketch,
07:46telling Brewer that his impression is both offensive and misleading.
07:50Pesci informed Brewer,
07:51I'm actually a very calm, laid-back person.
07:54before viciously beating him with the prop weapon.
07:57First thing you have to do is you take the bat and you hit him in the knee.
08:04On the February 11, 2012 episode of Saturday Night Live,
08:07Andy Samberg starred opposite Nicolas Cage in a weekend update segment
08:11subtitled Get in the Cage with Nicolas Cage and Nicolas Cage.
08:15So please join me in welcoming Nicolas Cage and Nicolas Cage.
08:19Like the Seinfeld Fallon segment,
08:21Samberg appeared dressed the same as Cage,
08:23complete with a hilarious receding hairline.
08:26Good evening, Nick. You're looking very well tonight.
08:29That's very kind of you, Nick.
08:33You look great, too.
08:35The skit had Nicolas Cage playing a clone of Nicolas Cage,
08:38so that he can appear in every movie ever made.
08:40As everyone knows, my dream as an actor is to appear in every film ever released.
08:46However, until now, I've only been able to muster a measly 90%.
08:51Yes, Andy Samberg was playing the real Nicolas Cage.
08:55Confused? It doesn't really matter.
08:57Cloning experiment?
08:58Well, that's exactly right, Seth. I am his clone.
09:01All that mattered was Samberg's hilarious impression.
09:04This Nick is calm and stealthy like a ninja warrior,
09:08whereas this Nick is an exaggerated, screaming psychopath.
09:12And Cage's expressionless face as he absolutely refused to break character.
09:17That's high praise!
09:22Tina Fey will forever be admired for her eerily spot-on impression of Sarah Palin.
09:26Good evening, my fellow Americans.
09:29Fey starred as Palin throughout the 2008 presidential election campaign,
09:33with a sketch of her and Amy Poehler as Hillary Clinton
09:36becoming a massive internet sensation.
09:39She would return to that well again and again on SNL.
09:42And now I'd like to entertain everybody with some fancy pageant walking.
09:46Palin actually appeared in the cold open of the October 18, 2008 episode
09:51alongside Lorne Michaels, watching Fey's impression on TV.
09:54It's obviously a heightened reality.
09:57Why couldn't we have done the 30 Rock sketch that I wrote?
10:00Honestly, not enough people know that show.
10:02She told Michaels that the impression was not realistic
10:05before being approached by Alec Baldwin, who jokingly mistook her for Tina Fey.
10:17We can see how the mistake was made.
10:19The resemblance really is uncanny.
10:26Before we unveil our top pick, here are some honorable mentions.
10:30Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon as the Bee Gees.
10:33The dynamic duo sang alongside Barry Gibb.
10:43Vanessa Bayer as Jennifer Aniston.
10:45A superb Rachel Green impression with Jennifer.
10:50Dana Carvey as George H.W. Bush.
10:53An uncanny representation of Bush the Elder.
11:03Those crazy hand gestures, the pointing thing, I don't do them.
11:07Alec Baldwin as Tony Bennett.
11:09The crooner loved this take.
11:19John Belushi as Joe Cocker.
11:21Belted out, feeling all right together.

11:48The legendary Christopher Walken has perhaps the most distinct voice in Hollywood
11:53and has long been the subject of hilarious celebrity impressions.
12:01Like Adam Sandler, Walken was the subject of a family reunion skit
12:05in which multiple cast members showed off their impressions.
12:16The skit got off to a great start with the fantastic Bill Hader
12:20and remained consistently entertaining throughout.
12:32Some of the impressions were genuinely great like the one from Jason Sudeikis
12:37and others were hilariously sincere and also surprisingly spot on
12:42like Amy Poehler's impersonation.
12:52It is a hilarious tribute to one of SNL's greatest and most prolific guest hosts.
12:57Do you agree with our picks?
