00:06tariff policy on imports from more than 180 countries.
00:10China slaps retaliatory tariffs of 34% on imported goods from the U.S., causing stock
00:16markets worldwide to sink lower on Friday.
00:21At least 14 people were killed and more than two dozen others injured in a Russian ballistic
00:25missile attack on the central Ukrainian city of Krivyi Rih.
00:30Markets are continuing to feel the jitters of Trump's aggressive global tariffs.
00:35Trump unveiled his global reciprocal tariff policy, which imposes customs duties on imports
00:39from more than 180 countries, ranging from 10 to over 50%.
00:44This was exacerbated after China also imposed its own counter-tariffs on the U.S.
00:50European markets experienced a sharp decline on the first day after the announcement.
00:54The German DAX fund closed the week with a drop of more than 1,000 points, roughly
00:585%, setting a new daily low for the index.
01:02Spain's largest stock market, the Iberian Index, or IBEX 35, also experienced similar
01:08decline.
01:09France's CAC 40 dropped about 4.3%.
01:12Trump's policy also recorded some significant blows to U.S. stock markets.
01:17The S&P 500 fell by roughly 6%, a record low since the COVID-19 pandemic.
01:23The Dow Jones Index reported a 5.5% decline, while the Nasdaq Composite also saw a fall
01:28of almost 6%.
01:30Trump seems unfazed by the market reaction to his policies, instead noting that the decline
01:35will only be temporary.
01:40China announced on Friday that it would impose a 34% tariff on imported goods from the U.S.
01:47starting from next week.
01:48The move is a response to a U.S. levy of the same amount on Chinese goods announced by
01:53U.S. President Donald Trump earlier this week.
01:56The U.S. 34% tariff could rise to at least 54%.
02:18Ukrainian
02:42officials say Russia targeted the central city of Krivoy Rog with ballistic missile
02:46attacks on Friday.
02:48At least 14 people were killed, including six children, and more than 30 others were
02:52injured and receiving medical attention.
02:55Authorities warn the death toll may continue to rise from the attack on the residential
02:58neighborhood, stating that some of those wounded sustained critical injuries.
03:03Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky says at least five buildings were damaged in the
03:07process and accused Russia of not being serious about the prospect of peace.
03:11The attacks coincided with the Kremlin sending an envoy to Washington for talks with U.S.
03:16Donald Trump's administration.
03:18Kirill Dmitriev, who heads Russia's sovereign wealth fund, says his talks with U.S. officials
03:23explored ways to normalize Moscow and Washington's relations.
03:27The talks, which he described as productive, also addressed economic and investment questions.
03:32Zelensky says Dmitriev's visit was aiming to discuss the possibility of withdrawing
03:36300 billion in Russian frozen assets.
03:39Two main messages resonated through all the speeches of Central Asian leaders on this
03:46summit.
03:47One was that they demonstrated once more that the region achieved prosperity, stability,
03:52good neighborly relations and harmonious approach to further development.
03:57And that the European Union recognized so by speaking to them as if they were a kind
04:02of a block, which gave them more weight on the international arena.
04:32The second is that the Central Asian leaders on this summit, they eagerly embrace all the
04:42forms of cooperation proposed to them by the European leaders on the summit because they
04:47saw it as a way to further development.
