00:00My first time, true, I was 20-21 when I was lucky enough to join the team.
00:19It's been a long time waiting for my side to compete in the Giro, so yeah, I had to
00:29wait to turn 30 years old to finally make my debut there.
00:35So it was also my first Grand Tour with the team, so yeah, I was excited and straight
00:43away, I felt that it was the kind of racing that suits me very well.
00:53I really liked it to go in the high mountains that early in the season with snow on the
01:00side of the road and remember some epic stages when it was really hard conditions, snow on
01:11the side of the road, going above 2,000 metres.
01:17We had to shorten that stage, but it was the first time I could jump on the podium
01:24on the stage in the Giro, so it's nice memories.
01:31I like the country, I think to ride your bike and the culture is really strong.
01:41The popularity for sure in France during summer time, it's something really special,
01:49but the people who come to see the race in Italy and the Giro, you know they are passionate
01:55because it's in May, weather conditions can be hard and they know every rider by their
02:07name and they are really passionate, so enthusiastic about cycling and it's really a big part of
02:13our culture.
02:14Also, as a passionate rider from my sport, I really enjoy being around and also always
02:27a thrilling third week in the race and I hope this year will be no different.
02:38It's more so like, I really feel that this is one of the only races in the World of Calendars
02:46that I couldn't, for different reasons, because I also didn't attend that often, I couldn't
02:54really show myself the way I really wanted, so I was really keen to extend a bit more
03:00my career to give it another good go in the Giro, with a really good team, a balanced
03:08team around to see, to explore new limits and hopefully get some success there.
03:20It will be a real transition point, I mean it will be special because it will be my last
03:30Grand Tour, but also the first Grand Tour of the season, so the build-up, it's already
03:38in January, but for me that means it's already all eyes on this period and the Giro.
03:45As I said before, I think it's one of the only races where I know I can achieve more
03:53so it gives me an extra motivation and especially I'm expecting a lot of that third week there
04:02with some iconic climbs. I can show them some good character and being also in the front of
04:11the race to really enjoy the passion of the players for cycling there. It will be special
04:22because it will be my very last Grand Tour and basically most of the time at the end of the
04:27Grand Tour you're so tired by the race that you don't want to hear about the Grand Tour anymore
04:32and then the week after you start to miss it again. So I expect this one will be no different,
04:39but I just want to take it day by day like there is no tomorrow and enjoy the process
04:47and the racing that will raise gradually through the weeks.
