00:00Good evening, Philippines.

00:02According to the Directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.,

00:05the Department of Migrant Workers immediately provided legal assistance

00:09to the 17 Filipinos who were imprisoned in Qatar

00:12because of the rally without a permit.

00:15Because of this, a provisional release was given

00:18and the prisoners were temporarily returned to their homes in Qatar.

00:24The DMW assured that it will continue to provide assistance to the arrested Filipinos.

00:29This is what Denise Osorio reported.

00:34A provisional release was given to the 17 overseas Filipino workers, or OFW,

00:39who were imprisoned in Qatar because of the illegal assembly or rally without a permit.

00:4420 Filipinos, including 3 minors, were arrested in Doha, Qatar

00:49after a riot broke out.

00:53According to DMW Secretary Hans Leo Kakdak,

00:55the Department of Migrant Workers immediately provided legal assistance to the OFWs

00:59after President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered the release of the 3 minors

01:04in the Philippines on March 28.

01:06The legal councils also issued a provisional release to the 17 OFWs

01:10while the investigation continues.

01:13They were able to all go home to their respective homes in Qatar.

01:18We travel outside of Qatar while the investigations are going on.

01:22But what's important here is that provisional liberty is still liberty.

01:27Kakdak also assured that legal and welfare assistance will continue to be provided to the OFWs.

01:33Meanwhile, Filipinos abroad are being reminded

01:36to always abide by the laws and regulations of the host country

01:40because it is not only possible for them to be arrested there.

01:45They need to be arrested

01:47so that they will not be able to follow the laws of the host country

01:55because in some countries,

01:57the reaction of the host country is monitoring

02:03surveillance of activities of the Filipino community.

02:07So, we really need to be careful, double careful, triple careful.
