00:27have increasingly promoted Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro as a prime vacation destination,

00:33gradually shifting focus away from the more famous Boracay Islands, according to Department of Tourism, Miamaropa.

00:40According to DOT, Miamaropa Regional Director Roberto P. Alabado III,

00:45the historical trajectory of Puerto Galera's rise in prominence, noting a shift in marketing strategy by travel agencies,

00:52has had a significant influence on the tourism landscape of the Philippines, especially in the Miamaropa region.

00:59Alabado says that Puerto Galera has long been recognized for its stunning beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and accessibility,

01:07which led to its popularity, especially among international tourists from Hong Kong and surrounding Southeast Asian countries.

01:14While Boracay has often been seen as the Philippines' quintessential tourist destination,

01:20known for its white sand beaches and world-class resorts, Puerto Galera has remained a hidden gem,

01:26offering visitors a more relaxed and less crowded alternative.

01:30Alabado said that its appeal to travelers seeks a quieter and more laid-back atmosphere

01:36that has solidified its place as a preferred choice for those looking to avoid the bustling crowds in Boracay and Batangas.

01:43The tourism department pointed out that Puerto Galera's strategic location,

01:48just a few hours away from Metro Manila, has also contributed to its rise in popularity.
