Oregon Ducks Coach Dan Lanning on Veteran Leadership & Impact Transfers
Transcript
00:00Really hop into who's doing what, right?
00:04We want everybody on our team that's capable of being a leader to be a leader,
00:07right? I don't care how old you are, right?
00:09I don't care how many snaps you played, right?
00:12Where can you contribute? Where can you lead?
00:13It starts by leading yourself, right?
00:15You want to be a guy that can set an example for yourself.
00:18What's it look like? And then the players recognize that.
00:20It's not a secret, right? Who works hard?
00:21Who doesn't? Who attacks every single day?
00:24We got a lot of guys on our team that are really capable of that.
00:26We got more guys that we need to have continue to step up.
00:29In the back, Brett.
00:32Coach, obviously, you guys lose some talent
00:34at the tight end position with Terrence and with Patrick.
00:36I'm just wondering, how are you seeing kind of Kenyon
00:38step into that role and maybe even some of the younger guys
00:40like A.J. that missed all of last season?
00:43How is he kind of showing early up in the spring camp?
00:45Yeah, we got a lot of good, talented players in that position.
00:47Obviously, Kenyon has the most experience there.
00:50He's shown an ability to make great plays.
00:52I think he's going to be a great playmaker again for us this year,
00:54you know, and just even watching the way he took the field today,
00:56you realize, okay, this guy has a purpose, right?
00:58He's coming out there for a reason.
00:59But there's a lot of guys that we're looking to create,
01:02you know, opportunities for that, those spots,
01:05and that's what you want,
01:07as many good guys that can go play at a high level.
01:09All right, here, Zach.
01:11I don't think we've talked to you about Isaiah World at all.
01:13What was it about him that you saw in the transfer portal
01:15that you liked and kind of how has he adapted to the team so far?
01:18Yeah, great athleticism and size.
01:20You know, it's just that God doesn't make
01:21very many people like that, right?
01:22And he's got a great spirit every single day.
01:25You know, he has the right mindset and the right attitude.
01:28He's a guy that played basketball,
01:29you know, in high school and then kind of has grown
01:31into a football player, and with that size and strength,
01:34it's something we really want to take advantage of.
