00:00Meanwhile, the farmers of Cebuyas in Ilocos Norte were happy
00:04following the increase in their income through the contract farming deal.

00:15The other day, we had a hard time selling the big Cebuyas.
00:21This is the answer to our problem, that we have a problem in selling.
00:25Kuya Willie is one of the farmers of Cebuyas here in Pasukin, Ilocos Norte
00:30who is excited because they will finally be able to buy their big Cebuyas.
00:34With the help of Mariano Marcos State University and the provincial government,
00:38those who are rejecting the market of their oversized white onions will not be wasted.
00:43And because of good agriculture practices, the Pasukin farmers are now GAP-certified.
00:48They can sell directly to institutional buyers obtained by the Department of Agriculture.
00:54In fact, the DA promised 100 tons of Cebuyas to be delivered to Laguna
01:01and buffer stock for the contract growing agreement of MMSU and a fast food chain.
01:06Our commitment is that the farmers of Cebuyas will help
01:12to improve their farming and share knowledge
01:18so that the industry of white onions in Ilocos can flourish.
01:24With the help of MMSU, farmers will be taught to use advanced technologies
01:30to reach their target of the large and expensive Cebuyas that will increase their income.
01:36The program is said to be a step in the order of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
01:41to make the lives of Filipino farmers easier.
