00:00Now, big changes are coming at Molineux as Wolves prepare for a crucial summer transfer window.
00:09With the squad in need of reinforcements and potential departures on the horizon, this could be one of the club's most important windows in years.
00:18I discussed this with Charlie Haffenden of Birmingham World, who highlighted the positivity surrounding Vitor Pereira.
00:24The Portuguese coach who arrived mid-season faces now pressure to reshape the squad and prove he's the right man for the job.
00:32So, will Fosun back him? We'll find out. But a poor start next season and Wolves could be looking for yet another manager.
00:39With key players linked to moves away and the new signings now needed, all eyes are on Wolves as they prepare for a pivotal summer window.
00:50Charlie, let's look at Wolves and their situation. Let's just start with the star man, Mateus Cunha.
00:57We've mentioned his release cause in his deal. So many clubs are looking at him this summer.
01:03I'm sure it's probably going to be towards the end of a farewell for Wolves.
01:08Just how good has he been across the season for Wolves?
01:13How important has he been to their struggles this season? It has been such a tough watch at times for Wolves fans.
01:21It has been a tough watch. I'm not a Wolves fan myself, but you are, Charles.
01:25I imagine Cunha has got you out of the dark ends of this Premier League season.
01:30You would be right in that Premier League relegation zone, I think, if it wasn't for Cunha.
01:34Just shows how important he is. One, to the goal scoring threat, but also just the mentality and I think the morale of the team as well.
01:42We have seen a bit of a hot headed side of it at times.
01:44He's had that sending off against Bournemouth earlier in the season, that moment with the Ipswich Town staff member as well.
01:50Not the best, especially when he's wearing the captain's armband.
01:53But in terms of individual quality, I don't think you'd want anyone else in this Wolves team at the moment.
01:58It's been incredible for them. And of course, if he does go in the summer, a massive loss.
02:02The £62 million would be a record sale for Wolves.
02:06And that means that they could probably go and rebuild with two or three attackers for that kind of money.
02:10So it's not all lost. Of course, it would be a huge blow if he did depart.
02:14But he's got to go, hasn't he, really? He's a Champions League standard player.
02:17And Wolves, with all due respects, are not going to be in any European football, let alone the Champions League, anytime soon.
02:23How long do you feel Fosun can keep this business model up?
02:28We've seen it multiple times now, where they've sort of invested in young talent or unknown talent and potential.
02:35And they've gone right to the top. You look at Ruben Neves, Pedro Neto.
02:39You sell them for a big profit and you don't really reinvest.
02:42And then, you know, I think Wolves fans are probably feeling, OK, Neto sold last summer.
02:48A great, great season he had. He's gone on to better things.
02:52Neves the summer before. And now it's Kunya, their best player, their next best player.
02:57How long can Wolves actually keep this up? Because it's not a real sustainable business model to keep you in the top flight.
03:03And they are almost finding that out by being so close to relegation in a few seasons in a row now.
03:10Yeah, I think at the end of the day, there's only so much patience that Wolves fans can have dealing with that kind of treatment.
03:16You pay your money week in, week out to go home and away.
03:19You expect to see the best effort from your team as well. But when you've got those individuals, if they're sold, we want it to be reinvested.
03:25Because, well, you're investing your time, your money into the club. The owner should do the same.
03:29And in my opinion, I think if you're selling important players, you've got to bring in replacements.
03:33Otherwise, you're going to fall down the league standings. You could fall down a division.
03:37I mean, financially, that is incredibly costly, more so than bringing in the new players.
03:42If you go up the table, heading towards Europe, I mean, think of the income you can get from playing in UEFA competitions.
03:47Building towards that is incredibly important. I just don't understand the approach, personally.
03:52I understand that PSR is a thing and that they have to make sure they don't lose $105 million or more over a three-year period.
03:59Wolves have been walking that tightrope a few times over recent years.
04:02But you've still got to reinvest. You've got to find a way, even if it's kind of installments further down the line or loan deals or options to buy
04:09or trying to find free agents you can bring in on a decent salary.
04:13They've got to find some way of replacing these players, and they just haven't been doing that at the moment, which has been really disappointing.
04:18We've mentioned and then Ryan Aitnouri, the other fullback. I think if he goes, that would be a big blow for Wolves.
04:24Liverpool have been linked, AC Milan as well. I just don't know who you can really replace Aitnouri with immediately in that Wolves squad.
04:32Maybe Rodrigo Gomez could fill in there. But when you're playing a back three or wing backs, it's quite difficult to have a player who can do the defensive side as well as the attacking.
04:40Has Rodrigo got that? I'm not too sure. So Aitnouri would be a big blow.
