Philippines sees 73% surge in dengue cases this quarter

The Health Department of the Philippines has reported a staggering 73 percent rise in dengue cases during the first quarter of 2025, contributing to an outbreak that the World Health Organization estimates has resulted in nearly a million suspected cases worldwide.

00:00The Health Department of the Philippines reported a 73% increase in dengue cases in the first quarter of 2025,
00:08part of an outbreak with nearly a million suspected infections, as estimated by the World Health Organization.
00:15From January to March, there were 62,313 reported cases.
00:21The case fatality rate fell to 0.35% from 0.42% last year.

01:17with its presence noted in Africa, the Americas, Southeast Asia, and the Western Pacific region.
