00:06a light heavyweight boxer from Nigeria, collapsed in the ring during a professional match in a crowd.

00:12He was later declared dead at the Kolebu Teaching Hospital in the early hours of Sunday.

00:18The bout, an international eight-round contest organized by Osibo Boxing Promotions

00:23against 22-year-old Jonathan Banugu, was in its third round when tragedy struck.

00:29The fighters were engaged in an intense exchange of jabs when the 40-year-old Oluwasegun suddenly stepped back,

00:36lost his footing and fell heavily to the canvas.

00:39His professional record included 23 fights with 13 victories, 8 defeats and 2 draws.

00:46Since making his debut on July 30, 2019, he had fought a total of 99 rounds,

00:53achieving an impressive 82.31% knockout rate.

00:57He was ranked 448th globally and 17th in Nigeria among 43 light heavyweight boxers.
