Two teenagers have died in a car crash at Rowville, in Melbourne's south-east. Victoria Police said the vehicle was stolen from Knoxfield earlier in the night. The teenagers are yet to be formally identified.

00:00Two teenagers have died after the stolen car they were driving crashed into a tree here
00:07on Callots Road in Roeville, southeast of Melbourne, in the early hours of this morning.
00:13All that's left is a mangled wreck.
00:15The males died at the scene.
00:16The damage is so extensive they'll need to be identified through DNA.
00:21Major Collision Unit detectives have spent the day here combing the scene trying to establish
00:25exactly what led up to the crash.
00:27They do know there may have been another car involved.
00:31Obviously we know there are two cars that were taken.
00:34One obviously has been recovered and there is the one that's outstanding so we are desperately
00:39looking for that vehicle and we're looking through all avenues of inquiry to try and
00:43identify the people involved.
00:44Some nearby residents were woken by the noise of the impact and they describe it as strange,
00:49saying they didn't hear any screeching brakes, just a dull thud.
00:52This is the latest in a series of police incidents in Roeville over the past week, including
00:57a stabbing, an armed hold-up in a milk bar and an alleged kidnapping.
01:02Some locals say they no longer feel safe here.
01:05It's shocking, it's really, really worrying and scary and I just, again I just feel sorry
01:15for the kids and the families and their friends.
01:20They need to get stricter, they need to put their foot down, they're getting away with
01:26everything at the moment, so they're just getting slaps on the wrist.
01:31Police will investigate whether speed or the other vehicle were factors in the crash.
