00:00Despite all that, you still gave your look, the eye.
00:03Even through the robot screen, I could still see your eye.
00:05And I think you know which eye we're talking about.
00:17What was the process like for you being on set,
00:20understanding that your character actually, you know,
00:22works a lot with the virtual projection of mind
00:24into an arm robot, you know?
00:26So, what was it like?
00:28You know, it was very interesting for me to be very specific about my performance.
00:31You know, very few times am I ever in a room with another actor
00:36speaking to them directly.
00:37And so I had to create their image through the neurocaster that I'm looking into
00:41and really modulate my voice in a certain way
00:44that extended the point I was trying to make.
00:47Because we don't see that part of the story,
00:51through that neurocaster I had to imagine what it might be like.
00:55And so it allowed my imagination to soar.
00:57That's right. And despite all that, you still gave your look, the eye.
01:01Even through the robot screen, I could still see your eye.
01:03And I think you know which eye we're talking about.
01:19You've been part of an incredible journey, you know,
01:21from all the way from Indiana Jones, when I was really young.
01:24When you were young too.
01:25And all the way through everything, every way, all at once.
01:28And I think we all fell in love even more, even further, of course,
01:31with your personality and everything.
01:33Like, what makes The Electric State super special for you this round, Lon?
01:37I love these kind of movies when I was a kid.
01:40You know, these big, epic, very entertaining movies.
01:44And this one, it was really special because one,
01:47it was directed by the Russo brothers,
01:49who I've been a fan of for a long time.
01:51And also, having read the graphic novel by Simon Stalenhag,
01:56and this world that he created, visually it's stunning.
02:00And also, all these incredible robots and drones.
02:04I just wanted to be a part of this.
02:07And also, we have an amazing cast.
02:09Chris Pratt, Millie Bobby Brown, Giancarlo, Stanley Tucci, everybody.
02:14I just wanted to be in the company of all these great actors.
02:17So that was an easy yes for me to do.
02:20And also, knowing that these are the type of movies that's going to come out,
02:24so many people are going to watch it.
02:27And those are the kind of movies that I love.
02:31So yeah, this was just an easy yes for me.
02:34So overall, congratulations once again.
02:36It was an amazing show.
02:38I'm in a cinema yesterday.
02:39I watched it twice.
02:41I had a screener at home, back in Malaysia,
02:43and I came and watched again.
02:44And it's a different feeling when you watch it in a huge cinema.
02:47It's my first time at the Egyptian, so it was just really beautiful.
02:51How a movie plays with an audience is the tale of the take.
02:54It truly is.
02:55When it's quiet in the house and they're truly engaged,
02:57and when there's a laugh line and everyone laughs collectively,
03:01it's a different energy.
03:02And at the end of the movie, at the Egyptian last night, if you noticed,
03:05everyone cheered wildly as soon as the film ended.
03:09And that's a confirmation that they were moved in some way,
03:12entertained in many ways, and really got the movie.
03:16Both of you have really strong presence that commands attention,
03:19whether it's through quiet intensity or unexpected charm.
03:23What is that one subtle thing that you think you have injected into your character
03:27that you did into performance in hope that perhaps maybe the audience would notice it?
03:32Well, I'm very proud of the moment that Colonel Bradbury makes a turn for the good in this.
03:37I feel like so many times we're playing a villain who doesn't get a chance to have redemption.
03:42And I believe in this moment with this particular character,
03:45you see him melt and you see him understand that all that he's done has been for naught.
03:51And he doesn't want to do it anymore.
03:53And in a very pivotal moment in the film, he gives up the ghost and puts his gun down.
03:59And to me, that's something we all need to see,
04:02because not only is it physically putting the gun down
04:04for those who are commanding armies to destroy each other and destroy people,
04:08it's putting the gun down for himself to allow himself to know that this change starts with him.
04:15Humanity and villain. Absolutely.
04:17For me, when we meet Dr. Amherst in the beginning,
04:21you see this is a man full of ambition, full of aspiration.
04:24And then when we see him again, we see a man with regrets and sorrow and hoping for redemption.
04:33So that's kind of like a nice arc for this character,
04:37even though we don't see him that much.
04:39But you can clearly see that, you know, he's a completely different man.
04:42And every role that I bring to, I want to, you know, I hope I want to bring empathy.
04:48You know, when audience watch it, they can feel for him,
04:51whether, you know, he's a villain or he's a good guy.
04:55And that's what, you know, that's the challenge.
04:57And that's what I try to bring to the character that I get to play.
05:01You want to go get your brother back?
05:03I'll go with you.
