00:15The government has once again denied that it does not recognize the jurisdiction of the international criminal court in the country.

00:22The Palace's answer to the question if the government is ready to help the ICC

00:27is related to the requested interim release of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

00:31One of the conditions of its approval is that the Philippines will comply with the guidelines of the ICC.

00:38But according to Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro,

00:41it was the former President's camp that asked the Supreme Court not to help the ICC.

00:47So it means that if we will not cooperate with the ICC,

00:51even that prayer or even that manifestation of the ICC, we will not take cognizance of that.

00:56Atty. Castro explained that if the former President will have an interim release,

01:01his camp should be ready for the process and for the possible issues that may arise if the Philippines will help the ICC.

01:10It's hard to say, although that's hypothetical,

01:16we will say that we will cooperate with the ICC when it comes to the interim release

01:21because all the issues there will be solved.

01:24It will also be solved if there will be a freeze order for his assets.

01:29Will the Duterte family want us to cooperate with the ICC

01:34so that all their assets, whether hidden or not,

01:38we will cooperate with the ICC so that all their assets will be taken away?

01:42But as we speak now, we do not recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC over the Philippines.

01:50The Palacio also gave no hidden information to the government

01:54regarding the Senate's hearing on the arrest of Duterte.

01:58Malacanang explained that there are information that cannot be given to the public during the hearing.

02:04Executive privilege is a constitutional doctrine that allows the President

02:08and high-ranking executive officials to withhold some sensitive information,

02:16especially if there will be an encroachment of one branch over to another branch.
