00:00So, a pretty disturbing story in an otherwise fairly tranquil part of inner west London.
00:09I think for many, stories like this have become all too familiar. We understand it was a newborn
00:16baby boy who was found dead inside a Marks and Spencer's shopping bag. Outside this church
00:23here in Notting Hill, we heard how a council refuse worker made the discovery after spotting
00:31a black bag with avocados on top of it outside All Saints Church at just around quarter to
00:38one on Tuesday afternoon. The Metropolitan Police on Wednesday have reiterated calls
00:46for the mother, who is thought to have recently given birth, to come forward on for her welfare
00:54and health, reading a statement to media outside the church on Wednesday morning. Superintendent
01:01Owen Renauden described the discovery as tragic. Marsha Haynes, who is the Deputy Church Warden
01:12at All Saints Church and a local resident, said she had never heard of anything like this in her
01:19life after the discovery of the newborn. She told reporters how she came out to prepare for the food
01:27bank and how she then saw the police arriving. She also explains how she let a number of officers
01:34into the church as part of their search. Most of the cordon around the church has now
01:41been removed.
