00:00The gentlelady is recognized for three minutes. Thank you, Mr. Speaker. I think
00:05insanity is a good word for what's happening here on the House floor today.
00:10Another good word is bizarre. You know, when I go home and I tell my
00:15constituents what happens in these halls, they're amazed. And today is one of those
00:19days where I'm like, what the hell are these folks doing? Because while our
00:25economy is in crisis, while groceries and housing are at an all-time high,
00:31while our veterans and our firefighters and our teachers are being illegally
00:35fired, while Elon Musk is dismantling the U.S. Department of Education, and while
00:42the Secretary of Defense is trying to cover up the most incompetent national
00:49security leak I have ever heard of in my life, the Republicans in the House are
00:55trying to save the American people from the scourge of walk-in cooler and
01:03refrigeration efficiency standards. That's right. We are here wasting
01:10precious debate time on the U.S. House of Representatives floor, debating,
01:17dismantling efficiency standards for walk-in refrigerators. How out of touch
01:25are you with the American people? Like, literally, I know you're not holding town
01:30halls and meeting with your constituents anymore, but you think that the American
01:34people voted for you to waste our time on refrigeration standards? That's what
01:41you think you were elected to do? Literally, how out of touch are you?
01:46Because no American voted. No American. I don't care where you are on the
01:52ideological spectrum, you did not vote for this. This is ridiculous, it's
01:56preposterous, and it's just stupid. Yesterday, it was reported that the
02:04Secretary of Defense and National Security Advisor and the Vice President
02:08leaked war plans to a journalist. This is the same administration that
02:13accidentally fired nuclear scientists and engineers who maintain our nuclear
02:19stockpile. This is the same administration that is illegally firing
02:23federal employees and dismantling federal agencies, and you're here running
02:28a resolution on refrigerators. And meanwhile, tomorrow, you all are going to
02:35hold a hearing and haul NPR and PBS in front of Congress to try to undermine
02:40the media, just like you did just here on this floor a few moments ago, as
02:44you're kicking the media out of the Pentagon and the White House because you
02:48don't believe in the media anymore. Well, maybe this is exactly what the end
02:54conclusion of dismantling education and American democracy is, because this is
02:59ridiculous, and we will vote no.
