00:00Now Everton face a crucial test this international break as the mid-season
00:08pause is bringing both opportunities and challenges. With key players called up to
00:14represent their countries the club must navigate potential fatigue and injury
00:19risks while also benefiting from much-needed rest and tactical
00:24reassessments. The break could disrupt the team rhythm but it also offers a
00:30chance to reflect and regroup for the remainder of the campaign. For further
00:36insights into how Everton are planning to handle these dynamics I spoke to Will
00:41Rooney of Liverpool World.
00:45Well let's look at Everton and in terms of the international break now obviously
00:50good form and you know they've been drawing games a lot and you know
00:54finding a way to not lose definitely you'd say under David Moyes. Do you feel
01:00this international break comes at the right time for them or is it a dent in
01:03momentum or is it a nice time to sort of regroup and sort of go into this final
01:08little stretch and really make the most of it?
01:10I think it is just a good time to be honest with you. Look, it's not like all these players are getting rest, you've got
01:18Jordan Pickford going away, Gerard Bramford going away, Idrissa Ganege going away, a couple of others so it's not like
01:27they're gonna be on their holidays for a week and then they'd be back in training
01:31where they can work on things but as you said the finding ways not to lose
01:37games but they haven't been as convincing in recent weeks as they were
01:42in David Moyes' first few weeks during the second stint in charge maybe that is
01:48the so-called managerial bounce that you get but they've shown a lot of
01:55resilience you've got to credit that and it's a little bit of time to get the
01:58injured players back as well and the likes of Ilham Mundi, Dwight McNeil,
02:03Dominic Calvert-Lewin are gonna have two extra weeks you know to work back
02:07towards fitness. You said to me, to your man's old bros, you're gonna have more time on the
02:12training pitch, David Moyes has said that they'll have them in training and they won't get
02:15time off because he wants to get them up to speed for options and so I think it
02:20just does come at the right time to be honest with you you know if Evan has won that
02:25West Ham game it may be a little bit of a different fixture but the next fixture is
02:30the Merseyside derby against Liverpool at Anfield, could Evan go to the well
02:36again? It's the worst answer, I don't want to say run on empty but their options are thinner
02:42because of the injuries at the pad and they've had to play the players a lot
02:50more than maybe David Moyes would have liked certainly in the attacking area of the
02:54pitch. But what can they do now in the last nine games? Where can they finish
03:00Everton? There's a little bit of a mini league going on with Man Utd and West Ham and Tottenham
03:05I think David Moyes would be saying well let's finish top of this mini league
03:09then because you've got two clubs of the so-called big six there, you've got West Ham who is his
03:15former club who you know he said spent a little bit of money there at West Ham
03:20and they have got a good squad, a squad that's better than the position at the minute
03:24and it's all additional revenue for Everton, you know it's three million pound per
03:29place so if they can finish above those three then you'll have an extra nine million pound
03:33there for Everton which will be important to the coffers so yeah it just comes at the right time
03:40I think David Moyes will be keeping his fingers crossed and the likes of Garner, Gale, Branford
03:47don't pick up any injuries during the international break.
03:51Yeah and obviously if you look at their sort of form a lot of late goals, late equalisers
03:57it seems like they are remaining in games a lot longer under David Moyes, what do you feel has
04:01been the key factor to this turnaround and finding a way not to be beaten and then also on top of
04:07that the running is quite tough you know you've got obviously the men's side Derby, they play
04:12Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Man City, Chelsea, you know a lot of teams that will really give David Moyes'
04:18side a good test. Yeah definitely, I think it's funny because Sean Dyser as you say he's the
04:26manager and keeper in games and he did keep Everton in a lot of games as well but he never
04:32fancied them to score in a lot of the games either. He and all the players will be worried
04:37that a big sun has come at Everton, they can be a part of Everton's future going into the new stadium.
