00:00Disturbing news coming in from Tamil Nadu. There was a known YouTuber whose house was
00:05allegedly attacked and no action has been taken on that yet. We were told that those
00:12who vandalized his residence and these are images shared by Savakku Shankar himself that
00:17the gang dumped feces, sewage material inside his residence. It was on camera also all of
00:25this was caught. This is likely the CCTV footage. This is shocking vandalism that was caught
00:30on camera in Chennai. Remember just to give you a background, Savakku Shankar had become
00:35a bitter critic of the ruling party in Tamil Nadu, the DMK and specifically of Chief Minister
00:41M K Stalin. According to his allegations, over 50 members of a certain gang group broke
00:47in, vandalized his residence and apparently threatened him and his elderly mother at his
00:53home. AIA, DMK has jumped on this saying Dravida Maneetra Karagam is promoting lawlessness.
00:58But what's shocking is someone can do this to your house, to your residence, to your
01:03family but there's been no arrest. Nothing has been done in Chennai over this. My colleague
01:10Pramod Madhav is joining me for the latest on that. Pramod tell me what exactly happened
01:15and also a bit of background on Savakku Shankar about what has been the stiff with the Stalin
01:20government.
01:21Savakku Shankar has been a known critic, extreme critic of the DMK government and also in fact
01:27he was arrested not once but twice under Gunda attack and he was like you know multiple charges
01:31were filed against him, fought his comments against the Tamil Nadu police and later he
01:35had to face serious issues because of that legal issues and as he was out yesterday around
01:40he says that he left in the morning around 8 a.m. a post which some nearly 20 people
01:44wearing the jacket, cleanliness workers jacket, reflective jacket they entered his home and
01:49his mother was alone over there. They force entered his home and they actually brought
01:52him sewage which actually they poured across everywhere inside the home claiming that his
01:57comments against the cleanliness workers and a certain Neta has irked them and this is
02:01how they responded. The shocking part is that his mother called Savakku Shankar on a video
02:05call and these guys were like these people who were inside also started yelling at him
02:10on a video call and everything was recorded and now Savakku claims that no action has
02:13been taken. However, police says that a case has been registered as per his mother's complaint
02:18but since Savakku has also made allegations against senior officers, the case has been
02:24transferred now to CBCID, Pooja. Are you picking up if something happened in the latest Pramod or
02:31is this just been a background of his comments against DNDN? What usually has he been critical
02:37about? Can you just give us a background because I'm looking at someone and can only imagine coming
02:41in to dump sewage, feces material inside your house and especially when your elderly mother
02:48is in the house. Pooja, Savakku Shankar is a known YouTuber. He has been arrested multiple
02:54times mainly because of his criticism against the government. Any policy the government brings in,
02:58he would definitely see any kind of issue there, he would definitely criticize it and what happened
03:02is that like recently he made criticism against purchase of certain equipment for sanitation
03:07workers and that turned out to be a big issue. However, he made this comment almost two months
03:11earlier and now it seems to have like you know flared up and these people who are wearing this
03:16jacket and such, it kind of looked like they were like sanitation workers but we're not exactly sure
03:21if they were implied by the Kerala Chennai Corporation or not. But Savakku claims that
03:24a senior congress leader is involved. However, the police are investigating the matter, Pooja.
03:30And tell me this, so any word yet, final question from both from the Dravida Munetra Karagam or from
03:36the AIDMK, the BJP because I see the opposition is usually quick to jump in on these issues. So,
03:41any statement from our political leadership on this?
03:45For now, AIDMK has not reacted on the matter but it looks like it might come up in the assembly
03:50today. Two issues are going to come up in the assembly and both will be brought in by the AIDMK
03:54because Errapadike Parnaswamy, the opposition leader called this completely lawlessness and
03:59he said though DMK said the land is being ruled as per law, this kind of instances is exactly
04:05what is happening, Pooja.
04:10All right, we'll be tracking more on that coming in and this is a reminder in many ways, remember,
04:15about what unfolded in Mumbai and can that also be compared here that eventually it's about
04:23the governments also need to take a backseat on this issue.
04:29But it's basically Maharashtra which has been in the centre of controversy. The stand-up comics,
04:34song satire against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has snowballed into a
04:39political slugfest. He's issued a statement, Kamra is refusing to apologise, he's defending,
04:44he said nothing wrong. In fact, he's saying why not take action against the vandals as well.
04:49The Shiv Sena is criticising Kamra, alleging a nexus between the comedian and Uddhav Thackeray.
04:55Authorities meanwhile have revealed that Kamra's call records could be investigated,
04:59his bank accounts could be scrutinised to examine if someone else orchestrated a satire
05:07on his behalf, so to say, to target Shinde. A fierce political battle has erupted between
05:12the Mahayati and the Mahavikasagari. Remember, all of this primarily about the venue also,
05:17that was vandalism. So, we are putting out statements of what the Mahavikasagari saying
05:21the opposition and the Mahayati as a ruling party and is this again bringing in the debate of
05:27how much of content creation, freedom of expression, should it be allowed, should there
05:31be absolute freedom of speech or is there responsibility on the shoulders of the content
05:35creators and eventually can vandalism irrespective be any kind of response and reaction acceptable
05:44in a civilised society? Freedom of speech and expression is subject to reasonable restrictions
05:52in the country such as public order, decency and morality, incitement of an offence,
06:00defamation, contempt of court, sovereignty, security of the state. Therefore, uttering words
06:07which may be against public order, incite offences or be defamatory in nature is definitely not
06:18freedom of speech and expression and we need to definitely introspect upon what and where comedy
06:28is going today.
06:58Freedom of speech and expression is subject to reasonable restrictions in the country. Therefore,
07:03uttering words which may be against public order, decency and morality, incitement of an offence,
07:06decency and morality, incitement of an offence, decency and morality, incitement of an offence,

09:36legal structures at actress Kangana Ranaut's office were demolished
09:40after it appeared that it was in criticism of the state government
09:44had led to a huge showdown.
09:46Again same year, a retired man, remember beaten up brutally
09:50all of this was on camera and his swollen eyes which had in the image gone super viral
09:56over only forwarding a cartoon on Uddhav Thackeray on his WhatsApp.
10:03By next year, February 2021, a BJP worker was beaten up
10:07by the then Sena workers for remarks against Uddhav Thackeray.
10:11By August 2021, Union Minister Narayan Rane was arrested
10:15over his comment on slapping Uddhav Thackeray.
10:19It was in January 2022 that Maharashtra BJP IT cell member
10:23was booked for objectionable comments against Rashmi Thackeray.
10:27So do the tables turn when it's about opposition and in government?
10:32Maybe all politicians are the same.
10:34Remember April 2022, Navneet and Ravi Rana arrested after they announced
10:38that they would chant Hanuman Chalisa in front of Matoshri.
10:42So this is why it's also about hypocrisy of our politicians irrespective sometimes
10:47that they may want to also support freedom of expression
10:51but only when they are in opposition and when they are not the target.
10:55So my colleague Ritwik Bhalekar joins me for the latest on this now.
10:59Ritwik, tell me more about what are we expecting in Kamra case
11:03because it's not just about Kunal Kamra defiant.
11:05He's of course he's saying I'm not going to apologize.
11:07He doesn't think he said anything wrong.
11:09But it's interesting how the UBT has jumped in his support
11:12and Fadnavis Sarkar has a lot to say to take us through the details.
11:21Absolutely the statement issued by Kunal Kamra in the late night yesterday
11:26has left a ruling alliance again fuming
11:30because he has very clearly stated that he's not going to apologize.
11:35By the same time the FIRs which have been lodged against him in Khar in Dombivli.
11:40Now the news is coming in that Khar police has issued a summon to Kunal Kamra
11:47and they have asked him to appear in front of police officials in person
11:54because he's not in Maharashtra, he's out of state.
11:56The summons has been issued on his WhatsApp number as well.
12:01We can also see that even Shiv Sena, Eknath Shinde faction MLA's
12:07as well as BJP MLA's are in more aggressive stance
12:11because in the ongoing Maharashtra budget session
12:14yesterday CM Devendra Fadnavis has categorically said
12:18that this act of making humour or comedic gig against political leaders,
12:27big leaders will not be tolerated and anyone's freedom cannot be encroached
12:32giving the basis of freedom of speech.
12:37So even government is going to act very sternly against it.
12:41Now we need to see that what steps Maharashtra government will take in this case.
12:47The latest on this because I also want to understand from you
12:50about what is the status with Kamra.
12:53Just tell us briefly again about his statement, how he's defined.
12:56He's saying I'm not going to apologize. What else has he added?
13:04Yes, he has said that he is not going to hide anywhere under the bed
13:09and keep this issue dying because he is saying that
13:13whatever humour or whatever gig he has done,
13:17he has not taken anyone's name. At the same time,
13:20the kind of reaction which was gotten by the Shiv Sena protesters,
13:25they have vandalized, they have broken the studio.
13:29So he is also asking Maharashtra government and police officials
13:34to act sternly against these protesters as well.
13:37He is also giving reference of what Deputy CM Ajit Pawar had said
13:42aligning with what he has to say.
13:45Ajit Pawar had yesterday given a reaction saying that...
13:49Stay on with me. I have breaking news coming in right now.
13:52The viewer needs to know that the comedian has been issued a notice by the cops.
13:57The Khar police has sent out a notice to Kunal Kamra
14:01to appear before the police officials.
14:03Remember till now there wasn't an official FIR.
14:05There were of course complaints that were filed
14:08and this is apart from the complaint in FIR against the vandals.
14:12But now it appears that Khar police has sent a notice to Kunal Kamra
14:18but this is more about questioning.
14:19Hrithvik, I believe that this wouldn't be an FIR.
14:22This is more about a notice that has been sent
14:24to possibly come record his statement, talk to the cops once
14:28and tell us more about why Khar police sent details on this.
14:32Yes, what we are getting right now is that Khar police has issued a summon.
14:43An official summon has been issued on the address
14:46where he is staying on record in Mumbai.
14:51By the same time, because Kunal Kamra is out of state,
14:55he is not in Maharashtra, he has been contacted
14:57but there is no response from his side.
15:01Here, police has sent the summons on his WhatsApp number as well
15:06so that he might respond.
15:08Maybe we have to see that will he appear in person
15:12or will he request to appear himself through video conferencing
15:17because similarly, Samay Raina was also summoned by the police
15:23and he requested to appear through video conferencing.
15:27Now, we are awaiting the response from Kunal Kamra's side.
15:31By the same time, we need to see that how Ruling Alliance MLAs
15:36will be aggressive on the stand.
15:38He said that he will be cooperating with the law, with the investigators
15:43but has said will the vandals also face the law equally.
15:47So, he is doubling down, he is defiant.
15:50And remember he has been a critic of the ruling party, of the BJP
15:56but this time, should it simply be seen as a good political satire
16:00or a joke that has gone too far and perhaps that has led to the vandalism
16:05and is that justified either.
16:07Listen in now to how the Netas have jumped in.
16:10Remember, this is not just about a comic making a joke or a satire.
16:14This is now coming between the Mahayati ruling party, the government
16:18and the opposition, Mahavikasagar.
16:20Listen in to the leaders.
16:23This person needs to create a kind of controversy and get famous.
16:31Urban Naxal and Left Liberal are like this.
16:34Their aim is the same.
16:37To insult the people of the society, to insult the institutions of the country.
16:45People should lose their faith in the institutions of the country.
16:49Such a kind of speech, such a kind of work should be done by the people.
16:54There is no point in leaving them in any situation.
16:57And so, in this context, I assure the assembly,
17:00tough, tough action will definitely be taken.
17:04I don't think there is anything wrong.
17:07To betray the traitors is not to attack anyone.
17:10The one who is a traitor is a traitor.
17:12To speak the truth cannot be the solution to freedom of expression.
17:15This is the truth.
17:16And we are openly saying that they are traitors.
17:19So where has this freedom of expression come from?
17:45Let's take a look at this report.

23:44Bandi Sanjay Kumar B.R.S.
23:49Bandi Sanjay Kumar B.R.S.
23:50India Today's Abdul Bashir is joining me for the latest on that.
23:53Abdul, good morning. Tell me more about what this political showdown has been about
23:58because clearly KTR is doubling down.
24:00What is the government's plan? Are they planning to investigate this further?
24:03Well, this particular statement had come out from Bandi Sanjay during a party program recently
24:12in which he had stated that in the past his associates of former CM KCR
24:16printed counterfeit currency in a printing press in Bidar
24:19and this was told to him by an officer in Delhi while he was travelling.
24:24An officer had conveyed a message that he went to Bidar for a counterfeit breakdown
24:30a crackdown on counterfeit notes
24:32in which a higher official had called him, the officer, and asked him not to interfere into the matter.
24:38Now this was said to him and that is what he is reading
24:41and in this he also stated that earlier he had been eluding B.R.S. chief KCR in a passport scam
24:50and now he is eluding KCR as he was printing counterfeit currency and that was used in elections.
24:58However, the B.R.S. party delegation had filed a case complaint against Bandi Sanjay
25:04and former minister and B.R.S. working president KCR had stated
25:08that Bandi Sanjay must not act like a corporator or a councillor of Kareem Nadar
25:13but he is a union minister and he has to think before he speaks to anyone.
25:19Abdul, keep tracking the latest on what precisely is likely to happen
25:22because KTR, son of KCR remember, has been a former minister
25:26and now Bandi Sanjay Kumar embroiled in a showdown over was there a counterfeit currency
25:31that was not only made but also distributed.
25:41This was one murder mystery that has shocked the country.
25:44The news from Meerut about a wife and allegedly a partner in love
25:48killing the husband and then chopping his body pieces, fitting it all in a drum
25:53until the cops seized and recovered the drum.
25:56These are unseen images of the party that happened allegedly after the gruesome murder.
26:02After the body chopping, this couple goes off to the hill state of Himachal for some holy party
26:11and remember, clearly no remorse, not trying to feel guilty or hide it.
26:16We are told that these accused killers by the name of Muskaan and Sahil
26:21were seen at this holy bash, happily recording the videos in an embrace
26:27shortly after they have killed this merchant navy officer
26:30and we are told that the killer duo celebrating holy at a hill station
26:35and interestingly you must know that our sources with the jail authorities say that
26:41they are facing withdrawal symptoms of the narcotic substances in the prison.
26:47Remember, it was 3rd of March that she got her husband murdered
26:51or should I say was participating in the murder of her husband, merchant navy officer Saurabh.
26:56By 14th of March, within 10 days she is seen dancing with the partner
27:01on the holy festival in a bash in Himachal Pradesh, off to Kasaul for a while
27:07relaxing, chilling after they have enjoyed their time of having murdered this man.
27:12Remember, what has been unprecedented in many ways is that the woman's parents
27:17have stood by the boy and his family, the partner who is the deceased
27:22and said they are not going to accept her, that this is absolutely shocking for them too
27:28and this is the latest that has come.
27:43Now, today's Himanshu Mishra joins me for the latest on that.
27:58He is closely tracking the investigation in this case.
28:01Himanshu, if the details of the murder and the crime itself were not so disturbing
28:06then we get to know that they were partying on the holy bash.
28:10This shows that there is no sorrow, no remorse, they are celebrating.
28:15Tell us a little more about this couple, about the details
28:19and for what reason they killed an innocent man
28:23and chopped his body and put it in a drum.
28:27See, first of all, the conspiracy, the investigation that has come, Pooja
28:31is that they started the conspiracy in November
28:34and if we talk about the motive, then see, both are telling different motives to the police
28:40which our sources are telling that one side where Muskaan has to say that
28:45that Sahil told him that now Saurabh has come, now the way our life was going on
28:52that kind of life will not work.
28:54We will not get all the things to do drugs, we will not be able to do drugs.
29:00So, in a way, this was an incitement to get Saurabh out of the way.
29:05This is what Muskaan has to say.
29:06On the other hand, Sahil has to say that Muskaan had created the whole conspiracy.
29:11The conspiracy had been going on since November.
29:13At the same time, to get Saurabh out of the way in any way,
29:18she had planned the whole thing.
29:21For this, she had also made a fake ID of social media
29:26and through that she used to say to Sahil that she has spoken to his mother
29:32whose mother had died two years before Sahil
29:35because Sahil was very close and she has said that you have to kill Sahil.
29:42So, they are accusing each other of inciting,
29:45although the way the murder took place,
29:48it is clear that both were together,
29:51both had planned the whole conspiracy together
29:53and after that both committed murder together.
29:56After the murder, Muskaan took 2-3 parts of the body with Sahil and went to his house.
30:01The next day, they bring drums and cement and pack the pieces well in it.
30:06So, both did this together and then they left.
30:11The first type of conspiracy,
30:13if you say it to a dangerous criminal,
30:17he will also be surprised at the type of conspiracy
30:20and the way the body was put in place,
30:23the evidence was tried to be erased
30:26and it was so normal that no one should have any suspicion,
30:30no one should have any doubt,
30:32no one should have any doubt on them.
30:34They kept talking to their family members.
30:36Muskaan had taken Saurabh's phone with her.
30:39She was Saurabh's sister, she was his family.
30:41She was showing everyone that Saurabh is with him.
30:45This clearly shows Imanchu the details that you are bringing to us
30:49that there was no remorse, there was no guilt.
30:53There was also no fear of law catching up with them.
30:56Usually, you commit a murder of this grievous nature,
30:59you may want to hide for some days.
31:01They went off to a health state to party
31:04and clearly they don't look like they are in fear.
31:06They are celebrating it together.
31:07The video is being recorded by themselves and yet,
31:10then look at that drum which was eventually seized and recovered by the cops
31:14in which body parts of this innocent man were found.
31:17Very disturbing incident that has happened in Meerut.
31:20A lot of questions being raised in this case.
31:29Bhartiya Janata Party's Muslim outreach in Bihar.
31:32Remember, it's the state heading for elections this year.
31:35The Bhartiya Janata Party plans a big Muslim outreach drive in the state.
31:39This is going to be Saugat-e-Modi
31:43for 32 lakh Muslims from especially the poor community, the underprivileged groups.
31:48Remember, the Eid festival is coming in,
31:50which is widely celebrated by the Muslim community.
31:53The Bhartiya Janata Party is preparing goodies
31:56and that could be distributed amongst, especially remember,
31:59for Muslims from the poor groups, from the underprivileged groups.
32:03We are told that 30,000 workers, members, leaders
32:10from the Bhartiya Janata Party will be contacting the places of worship,
32:14the mosques, especially the seminaries for the Muslims
32:17and there will be an outreach for them.
32:20Bihar is a crucial state, remember,
32:22with regard to the 2025 assembly elections also that are coming forth
32:26and it's an outreach for the Muslim community from the BJP
32:30to assure them, tell them that the party means well for them
32:34and for the state of Bihar.
32:36A state that is in desperate need of focus, development and vision.
32:41Will they then give a chance to the BJP?
32:44Will this be a consolidated vote coming up
32:46or could there be divisions with the kind of political discourse
32:49we have seen usually in Bihar?
32:52If you talk about before 2006,
32:54for a long time, the Congress government in the centre,
32:57the Congress government in Bihar for a long time,
32:59the Rajat government continuously,
33:01all of them went bankrupt.
33:03And we, the people who sacrificed our party,
33:06we became the culprits.
33:08Anyway, I have no problem, they are elders,
33:10they can do whatever they want,
33:12but my dedication,
33:14towards the thoughts of my leader,
33:16the ideology of my leader, my father,
33:18respected Ram Vilas Basavan Ji,
33:20which was of social morality,
33:22which was of social justice,
33:24I was not different from this ideology yesterday,
33:27nor am I different today, nor will I be different tomorrow.
33:30I will continue to move forward with honesty and good intentions.
33:34Those who have to take a decision in the future...
33:36They are very angry about the time.
33:38That you have given support for the time.
33:40We were also worried about the time.
33:42And you ask, whoever has information about this,
33:45we said this despite being part of the confederation.
33:51So the India Alliance, coming all out to ensure that
33:54every community gets a message from them.
33:57My colleague Shashibhushan Kumar is joining me from Patna.
34:00Shashibhushan, please tell us,
34:02how is this Muslim outreach being planned?
34:04How will party leaders, members, workers,
34:06contact the Muslim community?
34:08And will they be given goodies somewhere?
34:11And will they be given a promise that
34:13the Bharatiya Janata Party will work for them?
34:16Absolutely, Pooja.
34:17Look, there is an election in Bihar.
34:19Everyone knows this.
34:21And at this time, Ramzan's holy month is going on.
34:24The politics of Eid-ul-Fitr is also hot in Bihar.
34:27But at this time, the BJP's all-encompassing movement
34:31has made a big decision.
34:33That Saugat-e-Modi has been named for this campaign.
34:37And according to that, 32 lakh poor Muslim families
34:42will be given gift-hampers.
34:45People who are not able to celebrate Eid in a very good way,
34:50this distribution will be done between them.
34:53The 32,000 party officials in Bihar
34:56will contact them through the 32,000 mosques.
34:59We have never seen such a campaign before from the BJP.
35:03In Bihar, the way all the Muslim religious organizations
35:07boycotted the invitation of the parties of Nitesh Kumar and Chirag Paswan.
35:12After that, BJP is taking a big step.
35:15BJP has to say that the Modi government has done a lot for Muslims.
35:20The Modi government has taken a decision on 3 divorces.
35:23So we will take this and go,
35:25in the midst of the Muslim work.
35:27And Eid will start from Eid.
35:29We are seeing that this will happen on the day of Eid.
35:32It can also happen before that.
35:34Because it seems that mosques will also go.
35:37The members of the Muslim community will also be in contact with them.
35:41So this can be considered a full-on campaign from the BJP.
35:48You are absolutely right.
35:50This will be a full-on campaign.
35:52And if the BJP has set a target of 32 lakh Muslims
35:56to be contacted through mosques,
35:59then this whole campaign will not happen in a day.
36:02There is no clarity about when it will start.
36:05But first of all, we have told this news to the India Today group.
36:09The information we got officially,
36:11that this campaign has been decided by the BJP.
36:14And for this, when will the party leaders get down,
36:17when will the full outline of this be seen,
36:20that will happen very soon.
36:22Because it is believed that on 31st March,
36:25Eid can be celebrated.
36:27So before Eid itself,
36:29BJP officials, politicians,
36:31will be seen going to different places in Bihar.
36:34Stay with us,
36:36because the details you are telling,
36:39these are remember full-on strategy,
36:42that the BJP is putting in perspective.
36:44We are putting out the details of the seats that were won,
36:47by the BJP, by the JDU, RJD.
36:50Remember, the past 5 years have been fascinating when it comes to Bihar.
36:54We have had alliances where JDU was with the RJD,
36:57in the government, and then the government fell apart.
37:00We had then the JDU returning to the Bharatiya Janata Party,
37:03saying, I will not go anywhere now.
37:05I am with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
37:07Do you think this is as much, Shashi Bhushan,
37:09I will take this question to you,
37:11that the Bharatiya Janata Party,
37:13is not only depending on the JDU,
37:15but is also putting out its own strategy,
37:17in Bihar.
37:19Absolutely.
37:21BJP has never openly said,
37:23that they do not want the vote of the Muslim world.
37:26There have been many leaders in Bihar,
37:28from the Muslim world,
37:30who have been ministers for BJP,
37:32like Shahnawaz Hussain.
37:34When BJP came to power in Bihar,
37:36last time, they made Shahnawaz Hussain,
37:38a minister in the Bihar government.
37:40BJP's strategy is this,
37:42that the claim of a single vote,
37:44in the Mahagatbandhan,
37:46that is the alliance of Congress and RJD,
37:48in Bihar,
37:50is that of the Muslim vote.
37:52So somewhere, BJP should use this strategy.
37:54It should be used by Mitish Kumar,
37:56it should be used by Chirag Paswan,
37:58and now,
38:00I have said this before,
38:02that we have never seen,
38:04a campaign of this level,
38:06by BJP,
38:08BJP has a long way to go,
38:10and how much it will affect,
38:12because Muslim religious organizations,
38:14have also boycotted NDA.
38:16So in such circumstances,
38:18on the ground,
38:20how easy it will be to run this campaign,
38:22how successful people get.
38:24How will BJP push,
38:26Kader workers members,
38:28and remember that BJP has prominent leaders,
38:30from Bihar, even for the central level,
38:32there is Ravi Shankar Prasad,
38:34there has been Shahnawaz Hussain,
38:36who is an ardent fan of PM Modi.
38:38So it's as much NDA, but it's also the BJP,
38:40that wants to have a strategy,
38:42so that they don't miss out,
38:44in convincing one and all,
38:46for their party, for upcoming elections.
39:06He is the Assistant US Trade Representative,
39:08for South and Central Asia,
39:10and will be on a 5 day visit.
39:12He will hold talks, with Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal,
39:14also will meet other senior Indian officials,
39:16and the Indian officials,
39:18will be hopeful,
39:20that they will be able to discuss with Lynch,
39:22the possibility of a waiver,
39:24for India from the reciprocal tariff,
39:26temporarily at least.
39:28For now we are also told,
39:30there will be negotiations,
39:32to form up a framework,
39:34for recent market access,
39:36and speaking exclusively,
39:38at Business Today's Mindrush event,
39:40External Affairs Minister,
39:42S.J. Shankar made it clear,
39:44India will put,
39:46its own national interest first,
39:48with regard to the future trade deal as well.
39:50But also he added,
39:52free trade agreements,
39:54are no longer just economic tools,
39:56but they can also be strategic choices.
39:58The underlying issue,
40:00has been the accumulated consequences,
40:02of over-concentrated manufacturing,
40:04as well as massive subsidies,
40:06and sectoral protection.
40:10The full impact of that,
40:12was visible,
40:14during the COVID pandemic,
40:16on the fragility,
40:18of supply chains.
40:20The Ukraine conflict,
40:22created an additional set of concerns,
40:24especially,
40:26those pertaining to food,
40:28to fuel, and to fertilizers.
40:30And when sourcing,
40:32from key producers,
40:34became challenging,
40:36its ripple impact actually spread,
40:38across all businesses,
40:40and all geographies.
40:42The fighting,
40:44that we have seen since October 2023,
40:46in West Asia,
40:48or the Middle East,
40:50has added another dimension,
40:52because we have seen maritime shipping,
40:54disrupted,
40:56and this has particular consequences,
40:58for the Asia-Europe traffic.
41:00From time to time,
41:02business,
41:04in fact international economy,
41:06has also experienced,
41:08the effects of extreme climate events.
41:12Now,
41:14on top of all of this,
41:16there are the economic consequences,
41:18of sharper geopolitical competition.
41:22The digital,
41:24and the technology worlds,
41:26have felt the implication,
41:28of this polarization,
41:30most visibly.
41:32After decades of hearing,
41:34the virtues of globalization,
41:36today,
41:38the world is grappling,
41:40with the reality of industrial policies,
41:42export controls,
41:44and tariff wars.
41:48In such a scenario,
41:50it is essential,
41:52to identify,
41:54advantageous trends,
41:56and adapt our policies accordingly.
42:00First and foremost,
42:02there is a widespread concern today,
42:04about de-risking,
42:06the global economy.
42:08The solution lies,
42:10in more diversified manufacturing,
42:12Mr. Birla referred to it,
42:16in more innovation and technology,
42:18and in stronger trade,
42:20including those that pertain directly,
42:22to food and health security.
42:24Put together,
42:26what that means,
42:28is a re-globalization,
42:30that is fairer,
42:32that is more democratic,
42:34that is less riskier,
42:36than its earlier model.
42:40What is so exciting,
42:42is April 2nd,
42:44is just around the corner,
42:46and that's American Liberation Day.
42:48That's the day,
42:50that starts to treat America,
42:52with respect,
42:54and your leadership,
42:56understanding how the rest of the world treats us,
42:58and what balance and what fair trade,
43:00finally is going to be,
43:02is going to take care of America,
43:04it's going to launch,
43:06the external revenue service,
43:08to start to build the power and prestige,
43:10of America back,
43:12and I'm honored to be helping you,
43:14on that course.
43:16I want to bring in Chetan Bhutani,
43:18Chetan, good morning.
43:20Tell me more about this meeting,
43:22because India, as much as America,
43:24wants to put their national interest ahead,
43:26so how are we expecting,
43:28the possibility of the waiver,
43:30to come in here,
43:32what other discussions and negotiations,
43:34are likely to take place?
43:36Absolutely, over the period of months,
43:38we've been seeing a lot of flip-flops,
43:40as far as the Trump dynasty is concerned,
43:42the United States representatives,
43:44from the Asian trade communities,
43:46will be attending today's visit,
43:48on the 29th of March,
43:50and will be holding significant discussions,
43:52for enhancing trade deals,
43:54and bilateral talks with India,
43:56what I've been picking up from my sources,
43:58is the fact that the government officials,
44:00will be meeting the trade representatives,
44:02and they will be keeping their point forward,
44:04as far as the April 2 sanctions are concerned,
44:06remember it's the liberation day,
44:08and in fact President Trump,
44:10on record has mentioned about,
44:12protecting the US economy,
44:14by natural gas,
44:16pharmaceuticals, and of course,
44:18the automobile sector,
44:20the Indian government,
44:22is likely to give some debate,
44:24and some exemptions,
44:26as far as the automobile sector is concerned,
44:28but the US really wants to,
44:30venture inside the farmer's economy,
44:32and wants India to open up,
44:34which India is unlikely to do so,
44:36because before Pew School,
44:38had visited the United States,
44:40and formed up its stand,
44:42in fact there have been reports,
44:44that India and America,
44:46would be putting sanctions of about 25%,
44:48if any country trading with the US,
44:50buys Venezuelan oil,
44:52so there are policy flip-flops that are happening,
44:54but yes these four days would be really,
44:56to be watching out for,
44:58and we will be keeping our track and business straight,
45:00to keep up with the latest developments as well.
45:02Alright Chetan, we'll be looking forward,
45:04to what exactly will be out at this meeting,
45:06especially if the reciprocal tariff for India,
45:08can be put on hold for now,
45:10I have another news coming in,
45:12and this is with regard to America and China,
45:14Chinese EV giant BYD,
45:16has surpassed the rival Tesla,
45:18the electric automaker,
45:20have recorded $100 billion,
45:22in revenue for 2024,
45:24beating rival Tesla,
45:26at the Shenzhen based firm,
45:28accelerating its overseas expansion,
45:30now this Chinese auto giant,
45:32has already vowed the consumers,
45:34with a range of electric and hybrid cars,
45:36packed with high-tech features,
45:38we are putting out the comparison of Tesla and BYD,
45:40the country's automotive champion,
45:42garnered over $100 billion,
45:44in revenue for 2024,
45:46that means it has eclipsed,
45:48about $97.7 billion,
45:50in revenue last year announced,
45:52previously by Tesla,
45:54also BYD unveiled a new ecosystem,
45:56that allows the electric vehicles to charge,
45:58for 400 kilometers,
46:00in just 5 minutes,
46:02against Tesla's vehicle delivering,
46:04275 kilometers,
46:06in just 15 minutes,
46:08and add on now to the controversies,
46:10the attacks that are taking place,
46:12against the Tesla already,
46:14adding to the Tesla troubles,
46:16all right on that note,
46:18I'm wrapping up this bulletin for now,
46:20thank you so much for watching,
46:22but stay tuned.
