00:00Benjamin Netanyahu testified in court Monday in his long-running trial on corruption charges
00:07as political tensions surge in Israel.
00:10The Israeli Prime Minister's push to sack top legal and security officials has reignited
00:15a protest movement that calls him a threat to democracy.
00:23When the government dismisses the gatekeepers of democracy, the head of the Shin Bet and
00:28the legal adviser to the government, in order to preserve its rule, we know that we are
00:34living in a tyrannical regime.
00:38In his latest accusation against Shin Bet chief Ronan Barr after he pushed to fire him
00:43on Friday, Netanyahu said he had not approved an investigation into National Security Minister
00:49Itamar Ben-Gvir.
00:50This, after Israeli media reported Barr's agency spent months probing far-right infiltration
00:57of the police, which Ben-Gvir is in charge of.
01:01The Shin Bet is also investigating a possible infiltration of Netanyahu's office by Qatar.
01:07Allegations which Netanyahu called fake news, accusing Barr of ulterior motives.
01:14Citizens of Israel, I have a dramatic revelation.
01:17Ronan Barr's dismissal was not intended to prevent the investigation.
01:21The investigation was intended to prevent the dismissal.
01:25Under Attorney General Ghali Bahar of Miara suggested that Netanyahu may have a conflict
01:30of interest in Barr's dismissal.
01:32The Prime Minister began proceedings to sack her too.
01:35The Supreme Court is likely to block her dismissal, as it did for Ronan Barr's, pitting Netanyahu
01:41once again against the judiciary, which has long served as a check and balance on government
01:46decisions.
01:47If the government decides not to obey the court's decision, it will, on that very day,
01:54at that very moment, turn itself into an outlaw government.
01:59Israel's opposition leader has called for a general strike and tax revolt if the government
02:04refuses to abide by the court's decision.
