00:00This is a little difficult for me to say, and I literally did write some of this down.
00:04This is with very mixed emotions that I want to tell you guys that I am retiring from radio.
00:12Now, Bill and Laura already know this, so I'm not surprising them here.
00:16Not a shock to us today.
00:18Yeah. So after 32 years of working in radio, which has been the best career that I ever
00:24could have had, exactly half of it, 16 years, has been right here on B101.
00:31And this has been the most joyous time of my life.
00:35I mean, my marriage, my kids, and then my job here on the B.
00:39And you know the saying, I'm sorry.
00:42It's okay.
00:43It's okay.
00:44This is a big deal.
00:45I know.
00:45Do what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life, right?
00:49What I've loved is all of you.
00:51I love you, Bill and Laura.
00:53I love you as well.
00:55And I love each and every one of you listeners.
00:57So for a lot of us, I mean, we have spent our mornings together here for the last 14 years.
01:04I did middays on B101 for my first two years, and then I switched over to the morning show,
01:09and that is when we really got to know each other.
01:12So, you know, all of us, we have shared lots of personal stories,
01:17pieces of our lives with each other over the years.
01:19But mostly, we've laughed together.
01:22Every morning.
01:23Right?
01:23Every single morning.
01:25That has been the highlight for me, spending 14 years just laughing and having fun and
01:32being happy, right?
01:33Every weekday morning with each of you.
01:38So, God, my mouth is dry.
01:39It's okay.
01:39I know I'm smacking.
01:40It's okay.
01:42I should have my water.
01:43Starting your day off on the right foot, like, you know, starting it off in a good mood
01:47has been our goal as a team here on The B every morning.
01:51But I really do feel like it's been both ways, because you guys, you put us, you put
01:56me, I can speak for you guys, I know I can, in a good mood as well, because you guys are
02:03the best.
02:04You've been the reason that I've been getting up in the middle of the night, right?
02:07For so many years.
02:09I mean, you have made my mornings worthwhile, and I can't thank you enough for that.
02:16So, I mean, you know when it's time, right?
02:19You know when it's time to step away, and that's what I'm doing.
02:22This is my decision.
02:23I just want you guys to know that my bosses at The B, they've been amazing, and they've
02:28been nothing but supportive.
02:30This is all me, just because it is time.
02:33So, I'm calling it career retirement, all right?
02:38I'm looking forward to some time off, more time with the family, that kind of thing.
02:43And then whatever the next chapter is going to be, I don't know what that is yet, but
02:48I have a few ideas.
02:49I do, I do.
02:50I've talked to these two about it.
02:52I have some things that I would like to pursue.
02:56So, in this case, change is good.
02:59I could say so many.
03:00I can go on for hours.
03:01I could write a book about you and I.
03:03Oh, well, we should, actually.
03:05That might be one of my ideas.
03:06And Jen, you've heard every story from me, because we carpool together, I know.
03:10But I will tell you one story that sticks out, okay?
03:13I'll try to hold it together.
03:15I've been with This Morning Show in so many different versions of This Morning Show since
03:202004.
03:22Friends was still on.
03:23Think about that.
03:24That's a long time, Billy.
03:26You and I started in 2014 doing this together.
03:28Now, I had three shots of being the co-host, three shots at it, at the job, all right?
03:33First two failed.
03:35Third time was with you.
03:36Yeah.
03:37Coworkers said to me a year after, well, I guess the third time was the charm.
03:42I said, no, the charm was Jen Ryan.
03:44That was the charm.
03:46I can't do this without you.
03:47I can't imagine doing it without you.
03:50You're my best friend here, my work wife.
03:53We've been through pandemics together, snowstorms together.
03:56Countless.
03:57Sleepless nights.
04:00Lots of whining.
04:01Lots of whining and crying, and I think this is justified.
04:03Oh, my God.
04:05Thank you, Bill.
04:05That was really nice to say.
04:07Doing this show, my heart is full with you.
04:09That's all I have to say.
04:10Well, I do want to say that, listen, Bill and Laura are still here.
04:14So you guys, you're still in good hands.
04:17This is my last week.
04:18So, oh, my God.
04:20Yeah, it's emotional.
04:22My last take will be a week from today on Monday, the 31st.
04:26Yeah.
04:28I mean, I can't follow Billy.
04:30That was so sweet.
04:31And obviously, I just want to thank you for everything that you've done for this morning
04:36show and for B101.
04:38I have worked with a lot of morning shows.
04:40And you guys, I mean, not to throw shade on anyone else.
04:44They've been wonderful.
04:44But you are fantastic to work with.
04:49We were instant friends.
04:50You were extremely welcoming.
04:52And it's because you're both so down to earth.
04:55Yes.
04:56And we've had so much fun.
04:58I mean, honestly, we spend so much time together.
05:02Jen, I think you know more about my life than some of my closest family and friends.
05:07That's what happens when you do radio together.
05:09And I'm just going to miss you so much.
05:12You've set such a great example for everyone here in radio.
05:16I mean, I look up to you.
05:18I feel like I've learned so much from you.
05:20I'm glad.
05:21Thank you, Laura.
05:22I just appreciate everything.
05:23I appreciate you.
05:24And I appreciate everything that you have done for this morning show.
05:27And again, you guys, like, you know, Philly sports fans are the greatest fans in the world.
05:34And I truly feel like Philadelphia radio listeners are the greatest.
05:38Oh, absolutely.
05:40So we have a lot of memories, right, that we are going to take with us,
05:44that I'm going to take with me to my next chapter.
05:47And I will take them with me for the rest of my life.
05:50Honestly, we have too many to count.
05:52And we've got some shows to do.
05:53Oh, my God.
05:55I do want to say I want this last week to be fun.
05:58I really do.
05:59I do not want this to be sad.
06:01Change is good.
06:02Life happens.
06:04Change happens.
06:04And let's let's have a great last week together.
06:07Let's have fun.
06:08And thank you guys for listening.
06:10We love you, Jen.
06:11I love you guys, too.
