During Wednesday’s House Ways and Means Committee, Rep. John Larson (D-CT) discussed Elon Musk's potential cuts to Social Security and Medicare funding.

00:00Mr. Larson's recognized. Thank you, Ms. Moore. And let me say, having both chaired the Social
00:11Security Subcommittee and now being the ranking member, yeah, I get upset because of what's
00:26happening to the American people. These are good and decent people on both sides of the
00:33aisle. But fundamentally, you're telling me that there is no obligation to have the man
00:44who's been placed in charge of finding $2 trillion in cuts, who has said publicly on
00:53more than one occasion that yes, 70% of the budget is Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security
01:02and defense, and that's what we're going after. Only one of those areas has a trust fund of
01:13$2,700,000. The gentleman's time has expired. I yield back, Mr. Chairman. Thank you. I now
01:20recognize Mr. Kelly to strike the last word. Thank you, Chairman. I'd like to yield my time
01:25to Mr. Smucker. Mr. Smucker's recognized. I'd just like to make a point in regards to access
01:31to taxpayer information. I would assume that every employee of the IRS has access to taxpayer
01:39information, I would assume, particularly those who are auditing accounts, are going to have
01:46access to some taxpayer information. And I just want to remind folks listening that
01:52the Democrats just last year were advocating to hire tens of thousands more, maybe as many
01:59as 80,000 additional auditors, or at least people in the IRS, all of whom have had access
02:06to taxpayer information. We're talking maybe 100 people here who have potential access
02:13to taxpayer information. Will the gentleman yield? No. And I want to remind one other thing.
02:20There was a leak of taxpayer information, a massive leak, and we're learning that may
02:26have been 450,000 taxpayers' information or more. And I didn't hear a lot of outrage from
02:34Democrats because it matched their political narrative. It was the taxpayer information
02:43of some of the highest income earners. And I heard a lot of Democrats celebrating, maybe
02:49not here, but a lot of Democrats across the country celebrated that an independent contractor
02:57who did have access to taxpayer information released that information to the American
03:02public. Where was the outrage we're hearing today then? Where was the outrage then? I
03:07yield back. Thank you.
