Former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob was at the MACC headquarters for at least five hours on Thursday (March 13) to give his statement regarding an investigation into a corruption and money laundering case linked to him.

00:17He left the headquarters under escort at 3.13pm.
00:20And while he waved to waiting pressmen, neither he nor his legal team addressed the media.
00:28Ismail Sabri, who's the ninth Prime Minister, was supposed to give his statement on March
00:337, but the meeting was postponed due to a health condition.
00:37He was rushed to a private medical centre on February 21 after collapsing at home.
00:43On March 3, MACC Chief Tansri Azambaki said the 65-year-old Bera MP was a suspect in the
00:50investigation into the corruption and money laundering case following the discovery of
00:55about 170 million ringgit in various currencies in a safe house.
01:02Also seized were 16 kilograms of gold bars, estimated to be worth almost 7 million ringgit.
01:08The MACC has also frozen 13 bank accounts containing over 2 million ringgit to assist
01:14in the investigation.
01:16The focus of the investigation is on the expenditure and acquisition of funds for promotional and
01:23publicity purposes while he was leading the country.
01:26The MACC chief said 23 new witnesses will be called in gradually over the coming days
01:33to assist in the investigation.
01:35It is understood that Ismail Sabri is scheduled to return to the MACC headquarters tomorrow.
