00:00In other sports news, the Kapis City, Iloilo native, Jennifer Uy,
00:07made the finish of Ultraman Florida,
00:10which is one of the most difficult endurance races to finish.
00:14This Women's Month, let's go back to the success of the Pinay Endurance Athlete,
00:18in the words of teammate Rafael Bandayreal.
00:22Jennifer Uy, the Pinay Endurance Athlete, is one of the finalists in Ultraman Florida,
00:30a multi-stage marathon that was completed in three days.
00:35Because Ultraman is considered as one of the most challenging and physically demanding endurance races,
00:44not everyone who joins here can finish it.
00:48That's why it's really amazing what 37-year-old Jennifer Uy did,
00:54because she is one of the two women who finished the whole course.
00:58She is also the only Filipino this year who passed the finish line of the competition.
01:05She really synced in.
01:07All I know is that I'm so happy that I passed it.
01:12Actually, you know, after I crossed the finish line,
01:16my husband said, you're really lucky.
01:19He said, imagine your strength is the run and then this is what happened to you.
01:25What will people say?
01:27It's good that you finished.
01:29Then I said, yes.
01:33It's really, when I think about it,
01:37it was just mind over matter.
01:40Your legs are giving up, you're cramping.
01:44But no, no, I can do this.
01:47Aside from the intense fatigue, Jennifer admitted that the lack of sleep also added to her difficulty.
01:54I was awake for 48 hours when I did day 3.
01:57I really didn't sleep.
01:59So I didn't experience it before.
02:02And then I already took a marathon on day 2 and some Benadryl to help me sleep.
02:09But nothing, I was really awake.
02:12Despite the hardship she went through,
02:15the sweetness of success can't be equaled
02:18when she finished the Ultraman Florida,
02:21which only had 2 minutes left before the cutoff period.
02:27To be honest, when I was there with the other athletes,
02:30they're Americans, Europeans, they're big men.
02:34Then it's like, wow, they're so fit.
02:36Then I feel like I'm getting smaller.
02:39But it doesn't matter because we're all finishers at the end of the day.
02:46I also made a contribution.
02:50I made history in Ultraman Florida.
02:52So I think I made an impact this year.
02:58I feel like they will never forget that small Filipina woman
03:03who almost didn't made it, but made it because she didn't quit.
03:09After the victory of Ultraman Florida,
03:12Jennifer will continue with the Ultraman World Championships
03:16that will be held in Hawaii in November,
03:19where only the finishers will participate.
03:23Rafael Bandayrel, for Atletang Pilipino, for a new Philippines.
