00:00Now that the former President Rodrigo Duterte is in the custody of the International Criminal Court,

00:05he will remain in the ICC detention facility while waiting for the schedule of the three-chamber hearing.

00:12This hearing is for him to clarify his identity,

00:16to make sure that he understands the case against him,

00:19and to set the date when the hearing for his cases will start.

00:25According to the ICC, all detainees are entitled to apply for interim release

00:30while they are still in the trial.

00:33At the end of the confirmation hearing,

00:35it will be determined if additional evidence is needed

00:40or if the detainee is already in the trial.

00:43According to ICC Assistant to Counsel, Atty. Cristina Conti,

00:46the average period of a hearing lasts up to 8 years.

00:51The arrest warrant of Duterte was signed by three judges of the ICC,

00:56named Rain Alapini Gansu of Benin,

00:59Socorro Flores Vieira of Mexico,

01:02and Yulilia Motok of Romania,

01:06who will be the presiding judges in the pre-trial proceedings.
