00:23This time on Highway to Hell, this is just going to be ugly.
00:28Rocking the rollover.
00:29She's a little heavy.
00:30A fresh teen.
00:31It's smoking.
00:32Over the end.
00:33No.
00:34It's not good.
00:35Jamie.
00:36Back end's going over.
00:37Holds on.
00:38Oh, oh.
00:39That's tippy eh?
00:40And aggressive.
00:41Hold on.
00:42Hold on.
00:43Gets down and dirty.
00:44Oh!
00:45Anybody know how the crow's nest is?
00:58On Southern British Columbia's Highway 3.
01:00Take your time on it.
01:04It's windy and lots of hills.
01:08Rockers navigate the twisting route.
01:11Just be careful on a couple of the turns there, eh?
01:16For the Cascade Mountains.
01:19Anybody who's traveled Highway 3 knows it's a switchback area.
01:24Rock face on one side, then there's a cliff on the other.
01:29Very narrow roads.
01:30But as daylight fades.
01:34Once it gets dark, it's a whole different game here, eh?
01:3930 minutes south of Princeton.
01:41That isn't an accident.
01:47Oh, man.
01:50Right across the entire highway.
01:54Heading to the mess in a reliable towing pickup.
01:59Speed is a lot of the factor around here.
02:02Merritt Regional Manager, Lane Perry.
02:05If you're not coming down that hill right, somebody's going to get hurt.
02:10This is my backyard.
02:12I like to be one of those guys that make sure that we're up there cleaning the roads up.
02:17Let's go.
02:19Following in reliable's 35-ton heavy, Big Blue.
02:24Got a call from the RCMP like an hour ago.
02:28Junior Operator, Josh Bunz.
02:31We're just trying to get there as quick as we can.
02:34I come from a mining background, and it's got a lot of similarities with towing.
02:40I always admired the tow trucks, and I always thought the wreckers were very impressive pieces of equipment.
02:46Yo.
02:47Man, this sucks.
02:51That looks like it was a nasty ride.
02:53This is just going to be ugly.
02:57Okay.
03:00Also on scene, another reliable 35-ton with Junior Operator, Kalen Weldring.
03:08This is my first rollover and recovery that night.
03:12What a bunch of carnage.
03:14Right?
03:15It is on its side, totally blocking the road.
03:19She's a little heavy.
03:20This is a fully loaded trailer.
03:22The cargo is produce, mainly apples.
03:27With the wreck blocking both lanes of the highway, the team needs to act fast.
03:37We want to get the truck off the road as quick as we can, so everybody can carry on with their life.
03:46Sounds like it's going to be a fun trailer pickup.
04:11On Highway 3.
04:13The road's closed both ways.
04:17Yeah, there's a tracking trailer across the road.
04:22The pressure's on.
04:23Concerning, right?
04:25For Team Reliable to clear a semi, blocking the road.
04:30Okay.
04:31It is a very critical artery from Vancouver to Alberta.
04:36Definitely priority right now is to get the trailer out of the way and get the lanes open.
04:42Apparently the driver was okay, but he's brought to the hospital.
04:48Half an hour earlier, the fully loaded semi lost control.
04:56Slamming into the rock face before rolling over.
05:07We're going to pull the trailer away from the truck.
05:10The quickest way to clear the highway.
05:13Drag it right off the road.
05:16Sweet.
05:18Is to do it one piece at a time.
05:21I want to get Big Blue straight on right here.
05:24Okay.
05:25We're going to hook up Big Blue and hopefully just drag the trailer off to the side of the road.
05:34Okay.
05:35Bring it back.
05:37Right here, bud.
05:40We ran a snatch block just to make sure we were doubling our pulling power.
05:44You guys ready?
05:46Give her.
05:48Lane takes on the controls.
05:51We're separating.
05:52So Josh can be his eyes on the kingpin.
05:57Okay, hold on.
05:59Go slow.
06:00This trailer is fully loaded and it seems very heavy.
06:04Yeah, they're separated.
06:05Okay.
06:06Whoa.
06:07With a loaded trailer weighing 45,000 pounds.
06:12We're going to get you to turn around.
06:14Turn around and be pointed towards the front of this.
06:17Lane opts to clear it off the road.
06:20Then we'll see what we can do.
06:22Okay.
06:23Before they figure out how to ride it.
06:27Because there's so much weight in the trailer.
06:29That's good, Josh.
06:33We need to find the best angle to pull the trailer out.
06:36There's holes right here past me in that chain.
06:42Soft strap around the front.
06:45Strong enough?
06:48I think I'm going to double it up if I got enough chain.
06:50Good.
06:52Boom.
06:53Two.
06:56I want somebody on that end to just watch the trailer.
06:59Yeah.
07:00And I want somebody on that end to watch the trailer, okay?
07:03Okay.
07:05I'm worried that we may rip the trailer in half.
07:09The integrity is what we're worried about.
07:13Because all the weight is pushing on it.
07:15It's not sitting upright any longer.
07:18Okay, here we go, boys.
07:19Okay.
07:20Okay.
07:28Keep going, yep.
07:33Making sure that the trailer moves as one unit.
07:37Because we don't want it to break up.
07:39Yeah, it's all moving as one.
07:42Yeah.
07:46It's smoking.
07:48But as the trailer, inches off the road.
07:54Nope.
07:55Hang on.
08:03It's moving.
08:11How is Highway 2 into the valley?
08:14180 kilometers west.
08:18Rush hour.
08:21On Highway 1.
08:26Wow, look at that.
08:30A green 50-ton is on the move.
08:33Just another night on the Highway 1.
08:36With Al quiring at the wheel.
08:39Fifth wheel pin came disconnected somehow.
08:44Heading out onto the highway for a trailer disconnect from a tractor.
08:50Not a great spot.
08:52The semi was traveling at speed.
08:55Something happened.
08:57When the trailer separated.
09:00Probably made some sparks, I bet.
09:05It's definitely clear that it came disconnected.
09:08And it fell off the back of the truck.
09:11It's a lot better than being flipped over on its side, that's for sure.
09:15And maybe when it pinned in, it didn't pin in right.
09:19With rush hour just starting, Al needs to remove the dangerous distraction.
09:26The traffic is horrendous out there.
09:29Backed up everywhere on the highway.
09:32It's good as night as any to plant potatoes.
09:37With the front of the trailer flat on the road,
09:41it's pretty hard to get a chain underneath the trailer.
09:45Al is forced to feel his way in to hook his chains.
09:50I've towed many, many broken trailers.
09:54It's just a process of getting the chains set up.
09:58And that'll give me enough that I can pick the front of the trailer up.
10:05But as he finally lifts the trailer,
10:11a closer look reveals the trailer is severely compromised.
10:20The trailer frame is completely broken.
10:23This is going to become a real issue due to all this damage.
10:27It's going to have a look in the trailer before we lift it right up.
10:32I got to see what the actual load consists of
10:35and see how much weight is on the front of that trailer.
10:39At this point, we're hoping maybe we can just get it down to the parking lot here.
10:44A towman's worst nightmare.
10:46It's got a full load and the trailer frame is broken.
10:51Oh, are you kidding me?
10:57Everybody know what happened on Highway 1?
11:00Rush hour in the Fraser Valley.
11:03Recovery in process.
11:06Oh.
11:09What is this?
11:11A dropped trailer.
11:13Fragile, whatever it is.
11:15As Al, in a delicate situation.
11:19You don't want to see a big fragile sign.
11:22The load is ceramic tiles weighing 80,000 pounds.
11:28My mom always said I was a bull in a china shop.
11:33When I see that, it's like, whoa, just close the doors.
11:38To get the compromised trailer off the road,
11:42We're just going to slide the axles at the back.
11:46Al will need to use every trick he has up his sleeve.
11:51It's the power of will.
11:54See if we can get the axles underneath it a little.
11:58We're going to move the wheels forward underneath the trailer a little bit,
12:02so it's carrying more weight.
12:04Yep, going, going, going, going.
12:07Well, we've got to go a couple of feet, but it's sliding, yeah.
12:13Transferring it more onto the wheels than the tow truck end where it's broken.
12:19Yep, we're locked.
12:21Are we going to get through there or is the traffic held up?
12:24With the pressure of traffic building.
12:27All we can do is try our best.
12:30Because we only got one time to lift it.
12:34Al gambles on the trailer holding together.
12:39Like a house of cards.
12:41Be very ginger when you're making your moves.
12:43Uh-oh.
12:45What's going on?
12:47Two hours east.
12:49It's a semi rollover.
12:51Hang on!
12:53On highway three.
12:55What's the problem?
12:57Reliable's tipped semi.
13:00The door buckled in.
13:02Threatens to spill its load.
13:05It's a semi rollover.
13:07Hang on!
13:09On highway three.
13:11What's the problem?
13:13And it started to open up more and then the whole door just...
13:17This load definitely needs to be unloaded.
13:20The trailer's just going to break apart.
13:23On a hairpin bend.
13:26The semi lost control.
13:29Smashing into the rock face.
13:33And flipping onto its side.
13:37I'll watch right here.
13:39Offloading the cargo now will take hours.
13:44Not getting through.
13:46But with the wreck still blocking the highway.
13:49I think I'm going to keep going.
13:51Lane risks it all.
13:55You have to do what you have to do to get it open.
14:00Easy!
14:05Get!
14:07Okay.
14:09Get the trailer off the road.
14:12We're good.
14:14It gives enough room that both lanes of traffic can actually continue.
14:19I think we ought to disconnect and we'll go and focus on the truck now.
14:25Okay.
14:27This truck is broken in three places so there's no real structural frame to grab.
14:34We'll grab from the rear axle, we'll grab from the spring hanger there.
14:37Absolutely. I like it.
14:40The plan is to get this tractor back on its wheels, hooked up to a tow truck, towed out of the way.
14:49Just need all this stuff out of these live lanes right now.
14:53I'll start feeding it through the holes on the rim if you could just help me make a loop.
14:57Yeah.
15:00Just make sure that your hook isn't in the bite.
15:03Okay.
15:05That's when the sucker comes back over, right?
15:07Yeah.
15:10Okay.
15:13Okay, here we go, boys!
15:24Keep going!
15:30There it went.
15:32Hell yeah, bro!
15:34Okay.
15:36Pretty exciting to see it land on its wheels.
15:40Good!
15:42Next thing we'll do, Josh, get you right up in here somewhere where we can just drag this thing off the road.
15:55With a quick re-rig.
15:57Good?
15:59Yeah.
16:01The tractor...
16:06You taking your truck for a walk?
16:09Yeah.
16:10Got a little leash on it?
16:12...is off the highway.
16:14Traffic control on three, tow trucks are off the road. Copy that.
16:18Copy that. Thank you.
16:20In 90 minutes...
16:22He's open.
16:24Yee-haw!
16:26...Highway 3 is moving again.
16:27Very impressed with everybody's work.
16:30But the job is only half done.
16:33That'll get unloaded in the morning during the daylight, I think is the safest.
16:39For now...
16:41We're pretty well good to go, I think.
16:43Hell yeah.
16:44Yeah!
16:45The newest reliable members call it a day.
16:48I love working with Kaelin and Lane. Fearless leader. Let's go.
16:53Good work, man.
16:54Thank you. Good work.
16:55Good work.
16:56Really good.
16:58Proud to be on this team.
17:01It was always exciting for me when we bring on a whole new group of people.
17:06The recovery is done for the night.
17:09Right on. Thanks, guys.
17:14This is nice.
17:16On Highway 1.
17:19Uh-oh.
17:20Al's fragile trailer.
17:23Thing is bugging.
17:26Has started to give way.
17:29Pick something up that's broken and you're going to hear settling, crumpling, banging.
17:34Saving the 80,000-pound load.
17:39We'll fix that.
17:41Will require some roadside engineering.
17:46I'm just going to chain the underneath with a truss.
17:50I'm hoping I can get it picked up.
17:55To reinforce the trailer, Al will use blocks to support the frame
18:01and a chain to secure it in place while he attempts to tow it down the road.
18:10Think in your mind what you need to do and use the equipment that you have available with you.
18:16Okay. Tighten her up.
18:25There you go. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
18:30But the true test.
18:32Okay, here we go.
18:34Will be transporting the fragile cargo.
18:38Come on, sweetheart.
18:4114 kilometers.
18:44Leave hope.
18:46Back to the yard.
18:48My biggest concern is we're one big bump away from a mosaic anywhere.
18:56Can't really see it, but I've got a tight grip on my seat.
19:03We'll just take our time.
19:05We're top-downs in here.
19:07I'd rather just be a couple extra minutes, be cautious.
19:12As long as we don't hit a big bump, we should make it to the yard.
19:20Easy, easy, easy.
19:25After 25 long minutes.
19:28Right on. Happy landing.
19:30Al finally eases the trailer into home base.
19:39We always look forward to getting that load over the county line when we pull into the yard.
19:44Beauty.
19:46Every day is a challenge.
19:48That's what I enjoy is the diversity of the recovery business.
19:52We made it home for dinner.
19:56I've never seen it this pretty out here.
20:00The next day, back on Highway 3.
20:06Reliable Towing's heavy metal is on the move.
20:11We're going up to a rollover trailer.
20:14With lead operator, Andy Cullen.
20:17Lane and Josh had taken care of the tractor.
20:20I'm going to come up and take care of the trailer for them.
20:26Hours earlier.
20:28That one goes there.
20:3050,000 pounds of apples.
20:33You're just building middle out.
20:35Were removed from the trailer.
20:37We're going up to a rollover trailer.
20:40We're going up to a rollover trailer.
20:42We're going up to a rollover trailer.
20:45We're going up to a rollover trailer.
20:47Beautiful, beautiful.
20:51Now.
20:54I see a trailer on that side, right on the side of the road.
20:58Andy gets his first look at the empty trailer.
21:05Let's go have a look.
21:10Mmm, apple pie.
21:14Door is toast.
21:17Trailer's looking kind of rough.
21:19That's not going to be very nice.
21:23If you get it wrong, the box could crumble and end up across the highway.
21:30Nobody told me it was this bad.
21:35Trailer on its side there.
21:38On Highway 3.
21:40The whole wall's messed up.
21:42Andy's in a solo face-off.
21:44Nasty.
21:46With a beaten up trailer.
21:48The back door got pretty ripped up.
21:50When we stand this up, it could fall apart.
21:55Being the flagship truck guy,
21:59you're the person they call on to solve all their big issues.
22:03Working by myself.
22:05But when you're out alone,
22:08you need to be on it.
22:15But to recover the trailer,
22:19he'll need to shut down the highway.
22:29There's always a crunch on time.
22:33You don't want to block the highway any longer than needed.
22:38With a line to the top of the frame,
22:41and a line to the rear axles,
22:44Andy starts the pull.
23:14Look at that.
23:16Wasn't too bad.
23:20Roll went good, nice and quick.
23:22Fun times.
23:25In less than 10 minutes,
23:28You can let them go both ways.
23:30the highway is reopened.
23:33Yeah, thank you.
23:36The highway is open.
23:38The highway is open.
23:40The highway is open.
23:41Yeah, thank you.
23:45They opened it up.
23:47We're going to hook to the front of the trailer and get it off the highway.
23:50Perfect.
23:54Nice.
23:56Nothing to it.
23:59Looks not too bad.
24:01We're strapping the door,
24:03because the door frame
24:05is not so much a frame anymore.
24:11The two-day recovery
24:17is finally done.
24:20It's not just one person or two people.
24:23It's our whole teamwork together.
24:25I'm really proud of the people that we have.
24:28Everybody's starting to help out in the business.
24:32It's good to see it.
24:36Let's go home now.
24:41Let's go.
24:53Watch the snow.
24:55580 kilometers northeast.
24:59Winter conditions.
25:01In the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.
25:04That's a goat trail, man.
25:06A lone 4x4 wrecker.
25:09There's quite a ways up there.
25:12And Jamie Davis
25:15are in search of a wreck.
25:18It's deep, this snow.
25:20The off-road jobs can be quite interesting.
25:24You don't know what's going to happen.
25:27Ten kilometers into the bush,
25:30Jamie arrives to a luxury motorhome
25:34teetering on the edge.
25:35It's kind of straddled a ditch on the right side,
25:37so it's got to lean to it.
25:39Hello.
25:41The vehicle's owners
25:43are tourists visiting from Europe.
25:46I come slowly
25:48and don't see the ice.
25:50Then from one second to the other second,
25:52it's go right.
25:54And then it's finished.
25:56You'll get people from out of town
25:58or travelers that will go on the back roads
26:00and that will become really treacherous.
26:03This one.
26:05He's done a good job
26:07of making sure his camper van doesn't flip over.
26:11But while the owner's makeshift rigging
26:14impresses Jamie...
26:16I think we could take this off.
26:18Afraid. He fall.
26:20You afraid it's going to fall?
26:22Afraid.
26:24Yeah, I think we have to undo if we can.
26:26It's time for the professional to go to work.
26:30You just need the right tools.
26:31Okay.
26:33Thanks.
26:35I'll hold that.
26:37Okay.
26:40I'm going to plow by a little bit
26:42and then I'll back up.
26:44Okay.
26:46They've shipped this unit from Switzerland.
26:48It's their prized possession.
26:50So it's really important to pull this unit out
26:53and let them carry on their trip.
26:55Now in position,
26:57Jamie can start hooking up.
26:59We're going to pull on two points
27:01so that we're steering it back on the road
27:03and bringing it out at the same time.
27:05But rigging to the $200,000 camper...
27:09It's plastic.
27:11...is a delicate operation.
27:13Yeah, it's not good.
27:15They're made to look pretty.
27:17They don't have heavy rigging or pull points.
27:21Jamie rigs a round sling to the rear axle.
27:25If you don't do the right things,
27:27you could have more damage.
27:29Just around like this one.
27:31But for the second pull point...
27:33I'm going to put the block in there.
27:35...Jamie turns to his surroundings.
27:38We'll put this in there.
27:40Yeah.
27:42We've got some really good trees.
27:44We can redirect the angle of our pull
27:46using snatch blocks.
27:48Okay, locked on. Chain's good.
27:50Yeah, okay.
27:53The toe pin, a little bit weak,
27:55but we will try.
27:56Weighing over 8,000 pounds,
27:59Jamie gambles on his rig point.
28:02Hopefully it doesn't break.
28:04A lot of weight in this unit.
28:06I'm a little bit nervous on the front toe pin
28:08being strong enough.
28:10They're not meant for pulling on sideways.
28:17Okay.
28:20Pulled it? Yeah.
28:22He's steering the unit in the right direction.
28:27Okay.
28:29So that we can bring that front end over.
28:44Yeah, we have to be careful a little bit.
28:48Pull.
28:50The trees start to realize the weight that's on it.
28:54I'm a little nervous.
28:57I don't want the tree coming down.
29:02The driver's wife...
29:07...spots a problem.
29:09Yeah, I see, I see.
29:11Back end's going over.
29:18On a back country road.
29:22I won't do any more on that one.
29:23A high-end camper...
29:25So we'll stop.
29:27...threatens to topple over.
29:31We better stop before we do end up flipping this thing over.
29:35It's coming up here. I don't like that.
29:37We need to get a different tree.
29:39The angle that we're pulling on
29:41is lifting the back end of the van up
29:43and wanting to tip it over.
29:45There?
29:47Yeah, we got to go to that tree.
29:50Okay.
29:52Okay.
29:54We've got to re-rig it so that the angle that we're pulling on
29:57is going to pull down, not up.
30:00Satisfied with a new pull angle...
30:03Just hold on the brakes for a minute.
30:05Okay.
30:07...Jamie and the driver restart the pull.
30:11Okay, I'll pull him up.
30:18Let him in neutral now.
30:19Yeah.
30:21Okay.
30:23Ooh, that's tippy, eh?
30:31A little bit more.
30:40What do you think? Are we on the road?
30:43After a quick inspection...
30:46Yeah, it's on the road.
30:47...the luxury camper is out of the ditch.
30:51It really makes me feel good to give them a hand
30:54without any damage.
30:58The customer's doing all the hard work.
31:00But before they leave...
31:02Yeah.
31:04They get on as a swamper.
31:06Okay.
31:08The owner chips in one last time.
31:10You know, he's hands-on. Perfect.
31:12Now we go back to Halifax.
31:14With more than 5,000 kilometres to go...
31:18For now, shipping to Hamburg.
31:21...the couple can continue on their journey.
31:24No, it's okay. It's good.
31:26I really enjoy the off-road, backwards kind of recovery jobs.
31:31Jamie goes the extra mile.
31:34Just do your work, get it done, and it's all good.
31:38Ploughing the road on his way out...
31:41I'm happy.
31:46Beautiful sky.
31:48...600 kilometres southwest...
31:51Yeah, you know it.
31:53...in the Fraser Valley...
31:55Highway 1 looks great today.
31:57...a 50-tonne rotator heads to an early evening call...
32:02We're on our way.
32:04...with Aggressive Towing's Chris Mervin.
32:07We're going to head into Chilliwack today.
32:09A customer that, fortunately, has his truck in the ditch.
32:14When you enjoy your job, you don't really work a day in your life.
32:18I just passed a rotator.
32:21Four or five years ago, it was me getting all those calls.
32:24As I stepped back, Merv stepped up.
32:28Hot on his heels in a 50-tonne wrecker...
32:32Accidents happen every day.
32:34...junior heavy operator Jaden Dick.
32:37I'm running Merv's old 50-tonne now.
32:40Definitely a lot of pressure. There's a lot more that could go wrong.
32:4620 minutes ahead...
32:52The wreck...
32:54He's going to need a tow truck.
32:56...is deep in the ditch.
32:58This roadway is actually a busy thoroughfare to get to the upper side of Chilliwack.
33:04Whoa, Jeff.
33:06As daylight fades...
33:08It's definitely in there pretty good.
33:11...Team Aggressive arrives on scene.
33:21Hmm.
33:23Not a lot of real estate.
33:25Yeah. Tons of fun.
33:27It's a very narrow roadway we're dealing with.
33:30Look at that.
33:31Not going to have much outrigger out either.
33:33No.
33:35Overall, not much room to play with.
33:38But this wreck...
33:40We're looking at a roll-off truck in the ditch.
33:43...is no ordinary dump truck.
33:46The roll-off truck, they can actually roll the bin on and off.
33:50This is going to be a big problem.
33:52It definitely is a specialized vehicle.
33:55Hopefully they'll hold up.
33:57It's not something that you can really yank on or pull on too hard.
34:00The unit...
34:02Worst part is, eventually, it's just going to be a sharp drop-off and a sploosh.
34:06...is sitting in a foot of water.
34:10I mean, it's a very deep ditch.
34:12It has definitely got water flowing in the bottom of it.
34:14Holy!
34:16Man, it's like, all good, all good, all good, all bad.
34:20Anyone know what's going on in Chilliwack?
34:23In the Fraser Valley.
34:26On a narrow stretch of road...
34:29Is she empty or loaded?
34:31...Merv and Jaden...
34:33Empty.
34:35...face a specialized roll-off truck stuck in a waterway.
34:41It's fully in the ditch, on its side, pretty much.
34:44Hold on, big rig.
34:47Good enough.
34:49I don't think your boots are going to help you in that.
34:51Yeah, no.
34:52I'm not a huge fan of water.
34:54I don't really like swimming or being wet.
34:57OK, so this cable goes to this rail.
35:00Working in tight quarters...
35:03That way, when I swing my boom, it comes out proper, yeah.
35:06...Merv takes full advantage of his rotating boom.
35:11We're looking to keep a lane of traffic open, at least.
35:16And the rotator just makes it easy to achieve that.
35:19Hey, come hold the snatch block. I'll pop the ring up.
35:23Yep.
35:27With the 50-tonne pulling the front...
35:31...and the rotator lifting the back...
35:34...they'll coax the truck out of the ditch.
35:41Try one. We'll see if we can start making that come up.
35:44We got that shackle.
35:46We got that shackle siloed pretty good.
35:49With 16,000 pounds on the line...
35:54Watch your head. It may go flying.
35:57OK.
35:59...all eyes are on their rigging.
36:02Fighting the bank on the way up...
36:05...adds a lot of extra strain to the winch cables.
36:09Keep going.
36:11But as they winch against the bank...
36:14...the wreck...
36:17...threatens to tip.
36:20OK, hold on.
36:22I do not want to make the phone call to say it rolled over.
36:28Want that second line on, or...?
36:31I think what I want to do is put a grey strap on it...
36:34...and come around the backside of the bin.
36:37We're going to wrap a strap around it...
36:39...just to give it a little more support.
36:40We'll chuck that up and over.
36:43This truck's probably worth, you know, $150,000.
36:46I can't see the other side.
36:48We want to make sure this thing comes up on its wheels...
36:51...and stays on its wheels the whole time.
36:54But rigging to the other side...
36:57I'm the wreck monster.
36:59...means someone has to brave the water-filled ditch.
37:03Still getting wet.
37:05Oh, that's cold.
37:07Yeah.
37:08Being the junior guy on scene...
37:10...I've got to get down and dirty when I have to.
37:13That's really freaking cold water.
37:16Oh, my.
37:18Yeah, it's not going to be warm water.
37:20Man.
37:22Cold water builds character.
37:24I have more than enough character.
37:26I don't need to be in that cold water.
37:30OK, send her to the moon.
37:32Ready?
37:33Yeah.
37:35They don't call them swampers for nothing.
37:37Back to work.
37:39With the extra line now in place...
37:42Pull a little bit here.
37:44Pull a little bit?
37:46Yeah.
37:48...they begin round two.
37:55Keep going.
37:57But as the roll-off truck...
37:59Yeah, keep going.
38:01...makes its way up the bank...
38:03It's plowing a lot because we're bringing it up a very steep angle.
38:07That's all bound up.
38:10We're definitely adding resistance.
38:17Hang.
38:19Hold on.
38:21Hold on, hold on.
38:24What's happening?
38:26On a narrow roadway.
38:28We're in pair.
38:29Pulling a truck out to the ditch.
38:32A 16,000-pound truck...
38:35Hold on, hold on.
38:37...has Team Aggressive bogged down.
38:41I can make my end come up no problem, but yours is a fight right now.
38:45Just with the way we're pulling, it wants to pull the nose through the bank.
38:49To encourage the wreck to roll forward instead of sideways.
38:54Pull forward five more feet.
38:55Jayden...
38:58...repositions his 50-ton.
39:04Try rolling her up and out now.
39:07We need to get it on such of an angle where the tire starts riding up the dirt.
39:11Tell me when.
39:13Yeah.
39:15Keep pulling a little bit more.
39:23Pull her up a little bit here.
39:28That's the first time Team Aggressive has pulled a truck out of the ditch.
39:32It's been a long day.
39:34It's been a long day.
39:36It's been a long day.
39:38It's been a long day.
39:40It's been a long day.
39:42As the first wheel...
39:45Yeah, keep going like that.
39:47...claws its way onto pavement.
39:50Almost there, buddy.
39:52Hold it.
39:54What we should do, switch that to the other side now that we're up here.
39:58A final re-rig.
40:01Okay.
40:03Give her.
40:05And Jayden...
40:09...pulls the second wheel.
40:11We're on the money.
40:13Back up onto firm ground.
40:16Okay, Nicky Bird, head out of there.
40:18Leaving the rest to Merv and his rotator.
40:26There we go.
40:28Watching Merv do something like this is pretty interesting.
40:33Probably pretty close to your truck, so let's go take a look at that.
40:35Okay.
40:38It can be a difficult maneuver, picking at one end of the truck and swinging it between two.
40:44Hell yeah, brother!
40:46Yeah, she's ready to load.
40:48Almost. It's like, almost.
40:50The customer will probably be pretty happy that it stayed in one piece.
40:55I always enjoy working with Merv.
40:58Everything went smoothly and the truck's out of the ditch.
41:02Good job, homie.
41:03See you back in the yard.
41:05Jayden went swimming. He did awesome.
41:10Definitely nice.
41:12One day maybe having my own swamper.
41:15They got it all cleaned up.
41:18Gotta say, those guys do a pretty good job, eh?
41:21Yeah, that's for sure.
41:34Days later…
41:36Let's go in there, bud.
41:38I'm just taking her easy, man.
41:40…at Aggressive Towing's headquarters.
41:44You still got four hydraulic lines that gotta be undone and fed through.
41:48Merv…
41:50Just checking to make sure I've got everything.
41:52…and Jayden make sure the Aggressive fleet is ready to launch at a moment's notice.
42:04Critical that we're not down a bunch of trucks.
42:08Past few years, for sure, work-life balance has changed.
42:13Hi. How are you?
42:16Aggressive boss Jason Davis…
42:21…has been stepping back from the gritty part of the family business.
42:28Merv's now the forefront person that goes out.
42:31Just checking everything.
42:33I know that Jayden's are coming up in the world.
42:38The time that I missed spending with my kids growing up, I can spend that time with my grandkids, for sure.
42:48Heads up!
42:50It's nice to know that your team is ready to go anytime.
42:54Yeah!
42:56You can rely on the do-whatever.
42:58Awesome!
43:00Yeah, it's perfect. It's great.
43:02Lunch break!
43:07Next time on Highway Through Hell…
43:10Something burning?
43:12Indeed.
43:14Merv…
43:16No way!
43:18Tests the waters.
43:20Crushed.
43:22Truck destroyed.
43:24On the coke.
43:26With Team Reliable.
43:28Wow!
43:29One moving day…
43:31Sounds really good.
43:33…for Jamie's Precious.
43:35There! That's it!
