00:03denies the current administration's innocence

00:06in the face of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

00:13or still denies their involvement in the crimes

00:17committed by the former president before he left the Philippines.

00:20Luisa Erispe is in the center of the news.

00:25After arresting President Rodrigo Duterte yesterday,

00:29their camp went to the Supreme Court

00:31to ask for a temporary restraining order

00:34and to immediately dismiss the former president.

00:36But in the middle of the night,

00:39only one action was taken by a high court.

00:43There was no TRO yet,

00:44but only a statement that the petition was raffled.

00:49In the statement issued by the Supreme Court,

00:51this is the very order of Chief Justice Alexander Guzmundo.

00:55A special raffle is being made

00:57if the petitioner asks for an urgent TRO

01:01so that the court can immediately make a decision.

01:04But is the government's arrest of Duterte really against the law?

01:08Does the ICC in the Philippines have a jurisdiction in this case?

01:12Based on the leaked copy of the ICC's arrest warrant,

01:16Duterte really needs to be arrested

01:18so that he can help in the investigation.

01:21Because even though he didn't leave as president,

01:24it doesn't mean that he still has an influence in the Philippines.

01:30that the crimes that they are investigating

01:32happened during the time that the ICC was still inside the Philippines

01:36from 2011 to March 16, 2019

01:41because the country just left the ICC on March 17, 2019.

01:46In other words,

01:47the Philippines is still in the jurisdiction of the ICC

01:51when the crimes happened.

02:00He said that the law of the Philippines has nothing to do

02:03with the case of the former president of the ICC.

02:06And for the lawyers who slept in the Supreme Court,

02:10it would be better if they ask for a copy of the case of Duterte in the ICC.

02:15Meanwhile, the ICC gave a statement

02:18and confirmed that they issued a warrant against Duterte.

02:22At the time that the suspect is in their custody,

02:25there will be an initial appearance hearing

02:28to start the process of investigation

02:31where their charges will still be heard.
