00:00It's fair to say there will be plenty of showers for many of us as we go through the rest of
00:04this week.
00:05And with that, it's also going to feel pretty cool, pretty chilly at times.
00:09That's because, well, if we look at the temperatures at around 850 hectopascals, that's around
00:131,500 metres up, and you can see some cold air plunging its way across the whole of the
00:18country as we go through Tuesday and into Wednesday.
00:22And with that, we do have a brisk north-north-easterly wind, and that's going to add to the chilly
00:26feel to things, and it's also going to bring plenty of those showers.
00:30But back to the here and now, and through the rest of Monday, there will be quite a
00:33bit of cloud across parts of the south-southwest of England, and some outbreaks of rain could
00:38be a little bit heavy at times, just pepping up for a time.
00:41Further north across parts of Scotland, plenty of showers coming in.
00:44Some of these could be a bit wintry, some sleet, some snow.
00:46But in between, some clearer skies across parts of Northern Ireland, southern Scotland,
00:51some parts of northern England.
00:52And where we get the clearer skies, with that chillier air pushing its way southwards, perfect
00:56ingredients for temperatures to take a bit of a dip.
00:58So chillier than some recent nights, some places dropping below freezing, some frost
01:03to watch out for.
01:04But where we have more cloud, especially towards the south, with that milder air just about
01:07clinging on for now, it's going to be a milder start to the day.
01:11But otherwise, as we go through tomorrow, yes, a bit damp first thing across some southern
01:15coastal parts, but that rain should clear away.
01:17And then actually a good deal of dry, bright, sunny weather through the morning for many
01:20places.
01:21A bit more cloud bubbling up into the afternoon and worth bearing in mind across northern
01:25and eastern parts, also parts of Northern Ireland, there will be a fair few showers
01:29making their way in.
01:30And again, these showers, well, they could be a little bit heavy and we could see a bit
01:33more sleet or snow over the highest ground.
01:36Temperatures though are going to be markedly lower than they have been of late across southern
01:40parts.
01:41We say goodbye to the mid or high teens that we had over the weekend and to start the week
01:44and instead we're just about scraping into double digits at best.
01:49The north temperatures on paper may be a degree or so higher than today, but we do
01:53need to factor in the wind.
01:55It's coming from the north.
01:56It is going to be quite brisk, especially in northern parts, and it's going to make
01:59it feel even chillier, even though temperatures on paper are only around average for the time
02:04of year.
02:06Later on, as we go through Tuesday, there will be more showers.
02:08They are going to become a bit more widespread for a time, pushing further southwards.
02:12So many places likely to see a scattering of showers at times.
02:16And with the chillier air coming through, I'm expecting a little bit more sleet or snow,
02:20perhaps some sleet or snow to lower ground over parts of northern England, but nothing
02:24too unusual and it shouldn't cause many problems.
02:26A bit more sleet or snow mixed in with the showers over parts of Scotland as well.
02:31There will again be some clear skies as we go through Tuesday night into Wednesday.
02:34And so again, there is the risk of some frost, even some icy patches where we see any showers
02:39and then frozen surfaces developing.
02:42So do take care if you're going out early on Wednesday morning.
02:45Otherwise, through Wednesday itself, it's a bit of a showery day.
02:48Now, there is actually high pressure trying to build in from the west.
02:51So western parts avoiding the worst of the showers, largely dry.
02:55But that being said, the showers will become quite widespread, so a fair scattering of
02:59showers for many places, perhaps western Scotland staying mostly dry, but many places seeing
03:04a good few showers coming and going.
03:06There should be some bright sunny spells in between the showers, but on the whole, it's
03:09looking relatively cloudy and temperatures, if anything, look like there'll be a degree
03:13or so lower than we'll see through Tuesday.
03:16Later on, as we go through the rest of the week, like I said, there is high pressure
03:19trying to build from the west.
03:21But before that, we still have this north northeasterly wind and still plenty of showers
03:25as we go through Thursday into Friday.
03:27But by the weekend, I am expecting this high pressure to be a bit more dominant.
03:31So things are looking dry for many of us.
03:33Remember to check out the week ahead forecast, which is available on our YouTube channel
03:37if you want a bit more detail as to what we can expect through this week.
03:41But otherwise, I'll see you again soon.
03:42Bye bye.
