00:00It is a new era in the Seattle Seahawks organization Gino Smith traded to the Las Vegas Raiders DK Metcalf
00:08Traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers late on a Sunday night Metcalf now makes his way to the Steel City in return a
00:15Second round pick heads back to the northwest the teams also swap a sixth and seventh rounder this upcoming draft as well
00:23But DK Metcalf now a Pittsburgh Steeler on the opposite side of the field from George Pickens
00:29You have two elite deep threats in the NFL and yet no quarterback in-house currently to throw
00:36Them the football but the blockbuster deal DK Metcalf now makes his way to the Steel City
00:42And of course the RS he made his way to the Steel City with one year remaining in his current contract
00:48So an extension had to be signed a five-year
00:53150 million dollar deal with Pittsburgh DK Metcalf becoming the seventh wide receiver around the NFL
00:59To reach that 30 million dollar annual benchmark
01:03This is an interesting one because number one you understand this DK Metcalf wanted to make as much money as he can a lot
01:09Of teams out there Ben would have offered him a lot of money to play for them
01:13And sometimes you want to focus on getting the exact right spot and usually the way wide receivers work is all right number one
01:19I want my money number two. I want my catches number three
01:24Who's my quarterback going to be to get number two, which is my catches?
01:27So hey
01:28Let me go to the Pittsburgh Steelers a team
01:30Notorious for not letting your quarterback spin out there and running the football at all costs in playing in lower scoring games in a black
01:38And blue division which DK Metcalf goes perfect scenario. Love it
01:42I got another superstar on the other side or budding superstar
01:44Hopefully in Pickens if he can keep his head on straight
01:47But also I don't even have a quarterback right now and the funny part about this is yes
01:51You want to secure that long-term money because that's what's most important, but you also want an accurate thrower
01:57It's why you take a look at Cincinnati and sometimes you can deal with T Higgins
02:00Which we will in just a little bit going, you know, it's so much fun
02:02No matter what route I run I turn around and the ball is right on my chest for an easy completion to catch as a
02:08Wide receiver. There's nothing more demoralizing than cooking your defender play by play and not getting the football because he can't get it to you
02:16Or just doesn't read the defense and know that you're wide open
02:19But DK to Pittsburgh makes a lot of sense if they can get a thrower of the football
02:24Otherwise, why would you spend that much money at the wide receiver position and say Arthur Smith?
02:29I don't want you to throw the football more than 22 times per game because that's stealer football
02:34I like the decision to add talent and DK Metcalf
02:37I just don't know about the execution of this decision and who that quarterback is actually gonna be Ben
02:43Seattle gets a second rounder back in return
02:46They will have some more draft assets to utilize this year to start to rebuild that franchise as well
02:52The story for the Steelers has been consistent success 18 years under Mike Tomlin
02:57Never fewer than eight victories, of course
03:00Never a losing season
03:01But the idea of being a 10-win football team getting absolutely blown out during super wild-card weekend in the opening round of the playoffs
03:09Is starting to become a little bit old for a stable franchise in the Steelers
03:14But a franchise that also was once known for winning Lombardi trophies and seems very very far from doing
03:21So the last time the Steelers played in a Super Bowl
03:242012 the last time the Steelers even reached the AFC championship game
03:292016 and new information this morning from ESPN's Adam Schefter
03:33the Steelers continue talking to Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, but
03:39Aaron Rodgers has emerged as a QB option in Pittsburgh per league sources as I said at the open
03:46I would rather have the promising Justin Fields despite despite the idea that of course Aaron Rodgers is a much better thrower of the
03:54football in that offense with DK Metcalf and George Pickens then the
03:5941 year old Aaron Rodgers at this stage of his career
04:02But it does seem as though the Steelers are looking at the same thing
04:06And Donnie has said if we have DK Metcalf and George Pickens
04:10We need to make sure we can throw the football with consistency instead of the site
04:15Designing in my opinion an offensive scheme that could be creative
04:19So there is a chance that Aaron Rodgers after 20 years in the NFL
04:25Spends maybe his final one or the final few in Pittsburgh
04:30And there's a couple layers to this story, right you look at saying, okay, Justin Fields
04:34Why would you even want to come back to Pittsburgh? You were told last year the minute you got acquired gay kid
04:39Good luck
04:39You will never see this field unless our quarterback breaks his leg and then I'll bring in another quarterback and if his leg breaks
04:44Maybe you'll get into the football game
04:46So to come back here and be a start is interesting from his level
04:49But number two on this if you are getting the wide receivers to have an aerial salt downfield, you need a competitive passer
04:56That's not Justin Fields
04:57I actually would like Justin Fields more on the Steelers if they didn't get DK Metcalf and just said you know what we're actually gonna
05:02Trade pickings away. We're gonna run the football play really good defense
05:05They probably win nine to ten football games have a winning record like Mike Tomlin does it's an interesting maneuver
05:10I need to see who's pulling the strings at the quarterback position and that's a great debate
05:14So we find out who that is
05:16We'll continue the NFL offseason news next so an NFL weekend where we saw a bunch of moves and maneuvers
05:24We just talked about the two trades
05:26Seattle made sending Gino Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders and DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers
05:32Always an interesting move for Metcalf to go to a place where they don't have a quarterback at this moment
05:38Cannot say that about Buffalo, New York, of course as Josh Allen the reigning MVP
05:43Gets rewarded with a big
05:45contract extension six-year
05:48330 million dollar deal that is 55 million per year a
05:53AV annual average
05:55Value making him tied for the second highest paid QB in the NFL alongside Joe Burrow
06:01Trevor Lawrence Jordan love all four of those guys behind Dak Prescott
06:06but the real story in the contract and the finances is
06:10250 million dollars fully guaranteed to Allen the most guaranteed money ever in an NFL
06:18contract in league history
06:20It does a guy that deserves it. You probably would say Josh Allen, but again being physically responsible
06:25sometimes you bring up some of the question marks because the AAV is what we like to look at which typically on a contract is
06:30You know what?
06:31They're going right for a quarterback now is in the mid 50s and if that's what it's gonna be for Josh Allen
06:35That's great
06:35But all contracts aren't built the same and you're graded in the NFL with how much guaranteed money you're getting and 250 million dollars now
06:43Surpasses the Sean Watson. That's an incredible amount of money and I just said he probably deserves it
06:48but you never know the future in football a couple of
06:51Concussions a couple of injuries here. The one thing with the NFL is say, okay the quarterback just didn't work out in two years
06:56He's gonna retire. Let's just say he still had
06:59205 million dollars guaranteed on that contract that hits the salary cap. You can't get out from under that
07:05That's what the issue sometimes is if we would out of a contract
07:08Let's just say Ben 55 million on the average value per year of that and maybe only 125 million dollars guaranteed
07:14Things say wow, that's an absolute steal for the Buffalo Bills. But if Josh Allen plays, well, he's gonna eventually see all of that money
07:20It's a lot of money to give when you especially a few years ago just gave him a new contract
07:26I'm not hating on the deal because understand this if you have a superstar player that you've identified
07:31That's gonna be your franchise guy for at least the next five years
07:35Pay him now because in two to three years you will look at that as a steal
07:39So remember the deal that they had in Kansas City for Patrick Holmes, but a half of a billion dollars
07:43Are they out of their mind? What an absolute steal that turned out to be identify the players that are good
07:49That will lead your franchise and pay them now. That's what the Buffalo Bills did
07:53That's why I'm not hating on this deal great football player in two years this contract probably gonna be a steal
07:58So DRS you mentioned that big deal for Patrick Mahomes who we all would say currently in the NFL is the best quarterback
08:04Around the league Josh Allen are reigning MVP winner neither Mahomes nor Allen were paid
08:10With one of the top 10 biggest salaries last year in
08:142024 which is crazy to say because of when they signed their second deal after their rookie contracts in their NFL
08:22Career, so Josh Allen now rewarded, but to Donnie's point in two to three years again
08:28Josh Allen still performing at this level as we all anticipate
08:32it seems like a steal a lot of guaranteed money and we use the
08:37AAV to conceptualize and compare for Josh Allen
08:41I'm sure he's happy with fifty five million dollars per year on annual average value. He is happier with
08:48250 mil already in the bank account
08:51All right elsewhere around the NFL a trade request early during Super Bowl week miles Garrett the 2023
08:59Defensive player of the year one of the most feared defenders in all of the NFL
09:04Requested a trade out of Cleveland. I can't win here. This Browns team is in once again a another rebuild
09:11I want to contend for Super Bowls to finish out my career and the Browns said
09:17We're not so sure and miles Garrett said if you don't trade me, I'm not paying or playing
09:22I don't care how much money I miss the Browns then said about 40 million dollars per year miles Garrett said what?
09:29All right. I'm back in Cleveland, man
09:31Let's have a reunion a 40 million dollar per year extension for year
09:37160 million dollar deal
09:40123 and a half mil fully
09:42Guaranteed the highest paid non quarterback ever in the history of the National Football League was once Justin Jefferson
09:50Just a week ago
09:51It was Max Crosby and now it is miles Garrett
09:55Sacrificing a chance to contend for a Super Bowl for 40 million dollars per year
10:00One of the worst owners in professional sports Jimmy Haslam and the Cleveland Browns just bungle every single decision that they could possibly make
10:07But let's get into because there's a couple layers to this and the interesting part was like miles Garrett saying look
10:12I made a lot of money already. I played for Cleveland. We are a horrible franchise with no quarterback and no direction
10:17It's not about money. I just went out. Well, that's pretty admirable. Let's see where he can go
10:21And then we see that the owner goes, you know what?
10:24My player star player wants to meet with me. Maybe he can mend some fences here
10:28I'm not going to meet you meet with you at all and Harkins back to the Indianapolis Colts
10:32You remember G Marseille was like Jonathan Taylor wants a new contract. I don't care if he sits the rest of his career
10:36I'm never paying that guy and like 24 hours later. It's like man. This guy's the best running back. I've ever seen in my life
10:40He's a high-paying deal
10:41Like this doesn't make any sense on the direction of franchise based on what you just said now understand this this this isn't
10:47Me coming after miles Garrett. He's probably the best pass rusher in the NFL. Let's just say here's what happened instead
10:53Miles Garrett said I will not play for the Cleveland Browns
10:56To first break to first round draft picks are traded and he goes to the Buffalo Bills and gets that same exact extension from the
11:02bills standing ovation from me sitting you're going like
11:05unbelievable move for the Browns
11:07unbelievably good move for the Buffalo Bills because why
11:10The bills think they can win a championship and he's the missing piece now understand this the Cleveland Browns. You are going
11:18Absolutely nowhere until the Sean Watson's contract is completely clear and in the NFL once you start to hit 30 years old
11:25You are no longer in your prime as an NFL player outside of the quarterback position. That's just a fact
11:30Can he be a serviceable player in two to three years? Absolutely. Might he be the best player in football once again next year Cleveland?
11:36You're not making the playoffs next year. And here's where you can trace that with the Seattle Seahawks
11:41They won ten games last year and their ownership group said it, you know what, you know
11:44I don't think we can win a championship which is team
11:47Is that what it's about like signing Myles Garrett to quarterback money to win you five games a season?
11:53Like what is the point of that? You are best off just saying until Watson's contract is completely clear. Let's tear this thing down
11:59Let's get multiple first rounders and maybe the next two to three years. We'll get Arch Manning as our quarterback
12:04We'll rebuild this thing and we'll be a proud franchise for our Cleveland fans
12:08I'm sure Cleveland fans that have Myles Garrett jerseys and love Myles Garrett and there's a lot of them out there that do but
12:13Understand this you didn't help your football team by signing the best overall defensive end
12:17Why because you're not winning anything, isn't that the point of professional sports?
12:21You're either building to win something or you're going backwards to make sure in a few years
12:25You can then build to win something here one of the worst contract signings
12:29I've ever seen for a single sports franchise is Myles Garrett and it's not Myles Garrett's fault and
12:36Donnie they've been giving out some very peculiar
12:39Contracts as of late there is no doubt about Myles Garrett's talent
12:44He was the first overall pick by the Browns back in 2017
12:47His career resume is astounding in eight years in the NFL all with the Browns
12:53He has been a six-time All-Pro a six-time Pro Bowler four of the last five years
12:58He has been an AP All-Pro
13:00First team performer and the defensive player of the year now just two seasons ago
13:05But Myles Garrett is not going to be the piece to win you a championship Myles Garrett was fully healthy in
13:122024 in Cleveland won three games because of the disaster the quarterback position was and remains a disaster right now
13:20Under Kevin Stefanski, you would certainly think the RS the Browns holding the second overall selection are saying to themselves
13:27Right here right now. We got to make a splash. We got to move up to get Cam Ward
13:32We have to make sure we can be in play because if they don't believe should or Sanders is QB
13:38Number two that is worthy of that second overall selection
13:42They have to go get a quarterback to try to capitalize on this window
13:47Otherwise, they're just paying people to play not paying people to win
13:53Exactly and you hit the nail on the head
13:55Let's just say you traded him to first-round picks and let's just say you didn't get Cam Ward and it was should do or Sanders
14:01You said you know what?
14:01This guy's gonna be our future and then the next two years you added weapons for should or Sanders
14:06Rebuilt that football team and in two to three years. You were now true contenders in the AFC
14:11That's the game plan that fans can buy into they can't buy into spending money and saying boy by the time we get good
14:17Oh my goodness miles making 50 million dollars a year. This is ridiculous. Why did we do that?
14:22Just reset the program get your future quarterback and away you go and fans will always buy into that
14:29Plenty of other moves from the NFL weekend
14:32We've got a lot of signings and a lot of maneuvers to recap for you. We do it next here on the early
14:38so much news this weekend around the National Football League a reminder the legal tampering window that
14:44Negotiating period before the official start of the league year begins today noon Eastern time plenty more deals will be had
14:52you will see so many reports so many agreed to the terms of a
14:57Contract the league year officially begins 4 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday
15:02That's when the dotted line can officially be signed around the NFL that will be the case
15:08for the Los Angeles Rams
15:10Actually the deal already done because Devante Adams was released by the New York Jets Devante Adams in a new spot
15:18with Matthew Stafford in
15:20Los Angeles a two-year
15:2346 million dollar deal Donnie. We talked about Devante being released by the New York Jets
15:28Frankly, he was only there on a loan to play with his buddy and former quarterback in
15:34Aaron Rodgers and despite the fact of course, it did not work out for the Jets in large part this past season
15:40Devante Adams still performing at a very high level Devante Adams five consecutive years despite the drama
15:48He has really played a large part in of a thousand receiving yards at bare minimum Devante Adams still producing
15:55I think he was the top wide receiver on the free agent market and now adds a huge piece
16:01To a Rams team that after a peculiar start to the offseason has Matthew Stafford
16:06Resigned has Devante Adams now in-house a Rams team ready to win once again
16:12And I love the way you phrase that it's like a big piece of that offense
16:15He doesn't have to come in and be the savior. Like oh, we've been dying for a number one wide receiver for eight years
16:19We finally got one even though he is an aging veteran on the back end of his prime
16:23Puka Naku is still gonna be the number one, which means oh you want to double cover Naku?
16:27Adams gonna slay you on the back side. You want to roll coverage one side?
16:30The other guy's gonna get after you here. It'll be interesting to see how they put those two in motion
16:34But again, you have one of the best pay callers in NFL history and Sean McVay pulling the strings
16:39I absolutely love that and understand this about the Rams to adding that free agent saying you know what?
16:44I think this guy puts us over the top
16:45Dare I say if Jalen Carter doesn't rumble in for a key third down sack for the Philadelphia Eagles in the snow in the division
16:52around
16:53Rams win that football game Rams would beat Washington at home in the next round
16:58And how did you beat the Chiefs in the Super Bowl have a devastating pass rush?
17:02I think the Rams are like eight sacks on the Philadelphia Eagles and lost that football game. They might have been world champions
17:07So now you say let's keep the band in town. Let's keep Stafford happy and you know, what else you make him happy
17:12You're gonna pay him more money get him another weapon on the outside here. I love what the Rams did and again
17:17This is an organization that says we're in our window kept our quarterback. Let's add on
17:21Let's see if we can go out win another world championship, which they did just a few years ago
17:26I don't think anybody out there sold the Vontae Adams going to the Rams like, ah, why did they do that for great decision?
17:31Great signing and I'm looking forward to taking a look to see what the Rams do in 2025
17:36Which is always Donnie what made that speculation and seemingly a ruber mill that then had some legs to it around Matthew Stafford
17:43Status in LA all that much more peculiar the Rams had everything in place to be a legitimate and bona fide
17:50Super Bowl contender once again in 2025 in the tail end of Stafford's career
17:56Whatever that drama was it is now done and maybe you think of Devante Adams
18:01Kind of as that drama filled wide out as well end of 2021 even with Aaron Rodgers still at Lambeau
18:08He's like, you know what?
18:09I'd rather go play with my college quarterback and buddy Derek Carr in Las Vegas forces his way to Vegas
18:16Still has a great year with Derek Carr even after car leaves in
18:212023 still over
18:231,000 receiving yards and Donnie only played in 14 total games this year 11 with the New York Jets still
18:30Over a thousand receiving yards and eight touchdowns and it's not like he goes somewhere where the quarterback situation is not solved
18:38Matthew Stafford still one of the great slingers of the football in
18:422025. Alright, let's talk about some other big signings this weekend
18:46Ronnie Stanley was about to test the open market for free agency
18:50But goes back to the Ravens on a three-year 60 million dollar deal some injuries
18:56Kind of plaguing Ronnie Stanley's time but fully healthy this year DRS a Pro Bowl at the left tackle spot huge for Lamar
19:03Jackson and the flock to keep Stanley in the Charm City
19:06Yeah
19:07You didn't want him going out there on the open market say test the waters and come back to us because that number would have
19:11Got inflated here
19:12It was surprising it took this long because good left tackles are very hard to come by particularly on the free agent market good signing
19:19For them keep that identity their powerful ground game physical offensive line
19:23If Ronnie Stanley stays healthy one of the better left tackles no issues with that signing it had to happen for the Ravens
19:28And smart to get it done over the weekend before the start of the legal tampering window
19:33Although I'm sure maybe some calls were made already a couple of linebackers signing for nearly 15 million dollars a year
19:41The Chiefs re-sign their middle linebacker in Nick Bolton keeping him in-house Harold Landry the third after many years in Tennessee
19:50Reunites with his former head coach in Mike Vrabel Landry was released
19:54Earlier in the week signs a three-year
19:56Forty-three and a half million dollar deal the Patriots have a lot of money to spend they're doing so in Foxboro
20:03Exactly and you spending on pass rush here can never fault them
20:06They just need talent in New England that adds talent and a familiar face
20:09But also take a look at Nick Bolton one of the more versatile
20:11Linebackers in professional football guy looks like he's roaming around as a safety makes a lot of big plays that was a deserving contract as well
20:18Trey Smith placed under the franchise tag by KC has signed the tender but still has until the middle of July July 15th
20:25To be exact to agree in a long-term extension with KC
20:29There is still optimism that deal gets done Aaron Jones after a sensational year his first out of Green Bay
20:36But still in the NFC North with Minnesota re-signs with the Vikings on a two-year
20:4120 million dollar deal know that price about 10 million dollars annually
20:46Donnie last year the going rate for running backs was about 8 mil per year annually. So the running back position
20:52valuable once more
20:54Yep, good move here. You need a solid look if you're gonna have the rookie quarterback slash second year guy in JJ McCarthy
21:00Protect him with a good running game and Jones can certainly do that. There is some upside of Minnesota
21:04We'll see where they go with the quarterback position
21:07Trending towards JJ McCarthy taking over the helm in September, which is the right thing to do for the franchise and hopefully
21:13Keeping Daniel Jones as his reserve and veteran experience Sam Darnold remains that big name around noon Eastern today
21:22Where does he go at the quarterback spot after training Gino Smith a lot of speculation?
21:27Seattle could be the front-runner a couple of moves out of Buffalo releasing Vaughn Miller the veteran as was expected based on his
21:35Salary extending Gregory Rousseau a talenting young edge rusher
21:39So the bills paying Josh Allen Rousseau Terrell Bernard as we said and Khalil Shakir Derek Carr
21:46Restructuring his deal slightly. He remains the starting quarterback in New Orleans for the Kellen Moore era plenty more comes your way next
21:56Live right here on the early line on sports grid as we spent most of our opening hour
22:02Detailing it is a very important week around the National Football League
22:06We saw a flurry of moves this weekend all the moves officially done before the official start of the league year
22:12That's 4 p.m
22:13Eastern time on Wednesday when the trades can officially go through when players can sign that contract on the dotted line
22:20But today important as the unofficial official start of free agency noon Eastern time that legal tampering
22:27Period the negotiating window when clubs into players and representation can agree to terms on new
22:35deals that
22:37officially
22:38Begins we could be seeing things happen right now, but Twitter being down at this moment
22:43I don't know if Adam Schefter has tick-tock, but he might want to get to it as quickly as possible
22:48DRS will provide those free agency trackers throughout the next few days here, of course early in the NFL offseason
22:55But free agency we think is going to be a frenzy
22:58Although we have already seen a ton of big news in the last few days or so
23:03Of course
23:04Maybe the biggest name to monitor and it might sound tongue-in-cheek to call him the biggest name in the market
23:09But truly he is Sam Darnell. Where does the quarterback end up in?
23:142025 with the Seahawks trading away Gino Smith. There is already some speculation. That would be a natural landing spot
23:21so the question is where and then maybe how much in terms of how much money per year to Sam Darnold Garner at the
23:29Quarterback spot. What will that tell us about the inflated salaries at the quarterback position?
23:34It is gonna be interesting where he does go, but I think we're figuring right now
23:38It's probably gonna be Seattle the other landing spot you figure with the Pittsburgh Steelers not much smoke coming out
23:43But we know that could change where if you are an agent and let's just say Sam Darnold settle in Seattle
23:48And you're not getting exactly what you want. You pick up the phones you use some of these beat writers
23:53Hey Steelers now checking in Carolina now checking in Miami now checking in to create that bidding market out here for a certain said player
24:00But for me, I think Sam Darnold's gonna get a pretty penny because understand this we keep set
24:05Did you see the contracts that were given out yesterday by non basically free agent football players?
24:10imagine if you get the free agents and as you just said you're getting a bidding war like it again you just start with the
24:15Quarterback teams always need a quarterback as long as you have two people interested
24:18There's no limit to what that number could be. So I'm interested to see how quickly Sam Darnold signs
24:23I don't think to be honest, let's put it like odds on this Sam Darnold's gonna sign today, right?
24:28He doesn't even make it like into tomorrow. I would feel I
24:31Think so. Don't forget last year. The biggest move of the offseason was another quarterback leaving, Minnesota. That was Kirk cousins
24:38He signed that four-year
24:40180 million dollar deal with Atlanta almost as soon as that negotiating window opened up Donny
24:46We call it the legal tampering period like there hasn't been phone calls and conversations
24:51Happening the last few weeks and certainly the last few days for Sam Darnold and his representation with various other spots
24:58Around the National Football League. We like to play front office exec here on the early line
25:04And I think that is going to be a part of the question how much and what is the length of the contract for Sam
25:10Darnold if you are a GM if you are John Schneider in Seattle Donny what seems to be fair market value
25:17What would you be willing to spend to make Sam Darnold your starting quarterback?
25:21I mean just saw a guy signed for you know
25:23Ain't that average value 55 million but got all that guaranteed money if he is hitting the open market
25:29Are we gonna be surprised like you know, but first of all, let's credit by this sales folks didn't want to pay
25:33Gino Smith, let's just say 35 million dollars 30. We'll call 30 million dollars. Give it a round number at this point
25:38He's good. Donald's gonna get more than that
25:40So he's probably at 35 plus and what's a good because we have such an interesting dichotomy on like when Brock Purdy signs reason
25:47Bring up other quarterbacks
25:48You should try to frame this
25:49Like the one that throws everything out is the Baker Mayfield deal to Tampa Bay where I go
25:53We're getting a probable quarterback for about 30 million dollars a year. Like why am I signing you to 45 minute?
25:57I'd rather have Baker Mayfield now granted that now happened a few off seasons ago and sort of negate what you're getting this year
26:03But I put it this way
26:04Surprising to me if Darnold doesn't clock in at 35 plus million dollars per year at his age
26:11I actually if I put a round number on that I'd go 40 million for Donna. That's crazy
26:16No, that's what a starting makes particularly on the free agent market
26:20Baker signed a through a three-year 100 million dollar deal 33 million dollars per year
26:26AAV last offseason because he proved it in Tampa and then they were still like alright
26:31But can you continue to prove it in raise our ceiling?
26:34You would say that Baker Mayfield has done that if Mayfield were to hit the open market again
26:39That number would no longer be 33 meal mill
26:42But you kind of feel as though that's the same philosophy for Sammy D. You are a veteran presence
26:48You can provide a stable floor
26:50Are you going to elevate our ceiling to be a playoff contender for expected to win?
26:55Seven to eight games if we're even more than that the Pittsburgh Steelers a perennial playoff team
27:00Can you make us a true conference contender?
27:03That's the conversation
27:05I think around Sam Darnold speaking of Baker Mayfield's teammate in Tampa after eight years with the Buccaneers
27:12Chris Godwin set to become a free agent and of course another significant knee injury this past year in
27:192024 but after Devante Adams signs and T Higgins under the tag
27:23Not a lot of wide receiver love in the market right now certainly some for defensive lineman Khalil Mack a lot of
27:31Conversation he might return to Chicago to end out his playing days
27:36with the Bears and Donnie two guys for your birds Milton Williams and Josh wet up front of course sweat a
27:42Monumental performance in Super Bowl 59, but the question is can Howie Roseman keep getting away with it?
27:48Can he keep being financially savvy to find the money to pay everybody? I think that's the question for both of those D lineman in Philadelphia
27:56Yeah, and I doubt either one of those will be back in Philadelphia
27:59Which is why they actually got the free agency you saw the food up the Eagles understand the game that was being played
28:04Don't let the guys you won't get the free agency. Zach Baum was tied up immediately right away and said, okay
28:08Let's file that away now
28:10Also, you can look at running back position there where Saquon Barkley got the big deal
28:13But he wasn't a free agent if we look at that list again like Sam Donald's probably get the most overall money
28:18But I wouldn't be surprised if it's actually Milton Williams the defensive tackle for the Eagles that really rings the cash register a young
28:25Defensive tackle that can get pressure on the quarterback by himself and stop the run. That's a price point there
28:31That's put it this way. That's why he's not back with the Eagles
28:33He's actually too expensive if they want to bring back Josh wet
28:36They could probably get something done at a decent deal
28:38But maybe they want to spend their money and allocate it differently
28:40The Milton Williams one is the one that the Eagles go boy. We'd love to have you
28:44We actually can't even afford you at this point
28:46Another great draft by Howie Roseman third round pick Milton Williams now four years ago in
28:532021 out of Louisiana Tech so he's coming up for that second contract in the NFL after the discount and rookie deal
29:00The Eagles just might not have enough chips to keep him back in
29:04Philly, of course any free agency news that we get in the next 40 minutes will bring you and I'm sure we will have a
29:10Ton to recap tomorrow morning as well. Let's talk some NBA action on this Monday next
