00:00:00Friends from the media, good morning.
00:00:03I'm very pleased to meet you again.
00:00:08Thank you for your continued interest in and support of China's diplomacy.
00:00:16The year 2024 saw profound changes in the international landscape, as well as remarkable
00:00:22progress in China's reform and development.
00:00:27Under the stewardship of General Secretary Xi Jinping, China made important progress
00:00:32in its diplomacy.
00:00:35We fostered a good external environment for China's high-quality development, brought
00:00:41much-needed stability to a changing and turbulent world, and made new and solid strides in building
00:00:48a community with a shared future for mankind.
00:00:52This year, the international situation is still full of challenges, but the mission
00:00:56of China's diplomacy remains unchanged.
00:00:59We will, along with other countries, continue to uphold what is right, highly steer the
00:01:04direction of our era, defend international fairness and justice, and safeguard world
00:01:09peace and stability.
00:01:11With that, I'm ready to take your questions.
00:01:16The floor is now open for questions.
00:01:47China Central Television, could you walk us through what China's head of state diplomacy
00:01:52has achieved in the past year, and what highlights can we expect in the year ahead?
00:01:58Head of state diplomacy is the highest form of China's diplomacy.
00:02:04In the past year, President Xi Jinping personally planned and conducted head of state diplomacy,
00:02:11and many fruitful results were achieved.
00:02:14Many wonderful moments are still fresh in our memory.
00:02:17The three monumental events that China hosted last year, namely the conference marking the
00:02:2370th anniversary of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, the Beijing Summit of
00:02:27the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum, set
00:02:32a new benchmark of the global south, joining hands for common progress.
00:02:37The four overseas visits by President Xi to Europe, Central Asia, the BRICS, and Latin
00:02:41America generated new dynamism for global solidarity and cooperation.
00:02:48President Xi also hosted many leaders and friends from foreign countries in more than
00:02:52130 diplomatic engagements, adding a new, beautiful page to the annals of China's friendship
00:02:59with the world.
00:03:01President Xi Jinping, as the leader of a major country and a big political party, has shown
00:03:06a global vision and showed the responsibility of our time, and led China's diplomacy in
00:03:12upholding fundamental principles, breaking new ground, and making steady progress.
00:03:17China's relations with the world have thus undergone positive and profound changes.
00:03:22First, China's foreign policies, especially those important concepts and initiatives proposed
00:03:28by President Xi, are increasingly welcomed and supported by the international community.
00:03:35Second, China's important role in addressing global challenges and resolving burning and
00:03:41tough issues is more and more expected and commended by countries across the world.
00:03:49Third, the success of China's modernization and the inspiration it offers are increasingly
00:03:56recognized and emulated by more and more countries.
00:04:02The year 2025 is important for both China and the world.
00:04:07There will be new highlights in China's head-of-state diplomacy.
00:04:11Last month, President Xi attended the opening ceremony of the Asian Winter Games, marking
00:04:17the beginning of the diplomatic events that China will host this year.
00:04:21We will solemnly commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War
00:04:26of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and hold a
00:04:31series of major events, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit.
00:04:36President Xi is expected to make a number of overseas visits.
00:04:40Head-of-state diplomacy will ride a new chapter of closer cooperation and shared success between
00:04:47China and the world.
00:04:49MODERATORS' QUESTIONS IN CHINESE
00:05:20MODERATORS' QUESTIONS IN CHINESE
00:05:28Yitar Tass, there have been frequent interactions between the leaders of China and Russia since
00:05:34last year, and China-Russia relations have enjoyed sound development.
00:05:39At the same time, some are wondering whether recent Russia-U.S. talks would affect China-Russia
00:05:45strategic coordination.
00:05:47What is your take on China-Russia relations?
00:05:50I have been asked about China-Russia relations every year, although from different perspectives
00:05:58each time.
00:05:59What I want to emphasize is that no matter how the international landscape evolves, the
00:06:05historical logic of China-Russia friendship will not change, and its internal driving
00:06:10force will not diminish.
00:06:13Based on deep reflections and historical experience, China and Russia have decided
00:06:17to forge everlasting good-neighborliness and friendship, conduct comprehensive strategic
00:06:21coordination, and pursue mutual benefit cooperation and win-win, because this best serves the
00:06:27fundamental interests of the two peoples and conforms to the trend of our times.
00:06:32The two countries have found a path of non-alliance, non-confrontation, and not targeting any third
00:06:38party in developing new relations.
00:06:41It is a pioneering effort in forging a new model of major country relations and a set
00:06:46of fine examples for relations between neighboring countries.
00:06:50A mature, resilient, and stable China-Russia relationship will not be swayed by any turn
00:06:55of events, let alone be subject to interference by any third party.
00:07:00It is a constant in a turbulent world, rather than a variable in geopolitical games.
00:07:09Last year marked the 75th anniversary of China-Russia diplomatic relations.
00:07:15President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin had three face-to-face meetings, jointly
00:07:19steering the China-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Coordination for the New Era
00:07:25into a new historical stage.
00:07:28This year will be the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II.
00:07:32Xi Jinping, China, and Russia fought valiantly in the main theaters of Asia and Europe respectively.
00:07:42The two nations made immense sacrifice for and major historic contributions to the victory
00:07:49of the World Anti-Fascist War.
00:07:52The two sides will take the opportunity of joint commemoration of this important historical
00:07:56milestone to advocate the correct historical view of World War II, defend its victorious
00:08:02outcomes, uphold the UN Central International System, and promote a more just and equitable
00:08:09international order.
00:08:32You said that China's diplomacy brought much-needed stability to a changing and turbulent world
00:08:51in 2024.
00:08:53As more transformation and chaos are expected in 2025, what role will China play in the
00:08:59world on the diplomatic front?
00:09:04As you said, we are living in a changing and turbulent world where certainty is becoming
00:09:12a scarce resource.
00:09:14The choices made by countries, especially major countries, will determine the trajectory
00:09:19of our times and shape the future of the world.
00:09:23China's diplomacy will stand firm on the right side of history and on the side of human
00:09:31purpose.
00:09:33We will provide certainty to this uncertain world.
00:09:39We will be a staunch force defending our national interests.
00:09:45The Chinese people have a glorious tradition of relentlessly seeking self-renewal.
00:09:50We never provoke, and we are not intimidated by provocations.
00:09:54No maximum pressure, threat, or blackmail can undermine the unity of the 1.4 billion
00:10:01people or stop our historic strides toward the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
00:10:09We will be a just and a righteous force for world peace and stability.
00:10:13We will continue to expand our global partnerships featuring equality, openness, and cooperation,
00:10:20actively use the Chinese approach in resolving hotspot issues, and write a new chapter of
00:10:26the Global South seeking strength through unity.
00:10:29We will prove with facts that the path of peaceful development is bright and can ensure
00:10:35stable and sustainable progress, and that it should be the choice of all countries.
00:10:44We will be a progressive force for international fairness and justice.
00:10:48We will uphold true multilateralism and bear in mind the future of humanity and the well-being
00:10:54of the people.
00:10:55We will promote global governance that is based on extensive consultation, joint contribution,
00:11:01shared benefit.
00:11:02We will observe the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and build more consensus
00:11:08for an equal and orderly multiple world.
00:11:11We will be a constructive force for common development of the world.
00:11:17We will continue to expand high standard opening up and share the vast opportunities
00:11:23of Chinese modernization with all countries.
00:11:26We will safeguard the multilateral free trade system, foster an open, inclusive, and non-discriminatory
00:11:32environment for international cooperation, and advance a universally beneficial and inclusive
00:11:38economic globalization.
00:12:10CNN, President Trump has adopted an America first policy after his return to the White
00:12:32House.
00:12:33Less than two months into his presidency, he has spoken about withdrawing from international
00:12:38organizations and treaties, and suspending U.S. aid to foreign countries, and has threatened
00:12:43traditional allies.
00:12:45Do you think this is good for China's development?
00:12:48Does it provide a strategic opportunity for China to play a bigger role in international
00:12:52affairs and reshape the global landscape?
00:12:55This is a very sharp question, but I'm ready to share with you my views.
00:13:04There are more than 190 countries in the world.
00:13:08Should everyone stress my country first and obsess over a position of strength, the law
00:13:17of the jungle would reign the world again.
00:13:20Smaller and weaker countries would bear the brunt first, and international norms and order
00:13:25would take a body blow.
00:13:29The Paris Conference over 100 years ago, the Chinese asked a question resonating across
00:13:34the ages.
00:13:36Does right prevail over might, or does might make right?
00:13:42New China stands firm on the side of international justice and resolutely opposes power politics
00:13:50and hegemony.
00:13:53History should move forward, not backward.
00:13:56A big country should honor its international obligations and fulfill its due responsibilities.
00:14:05It should not put selfish interests before principles, still less willed is power to
00:14:09bully the weak.
00:14:10A saying in the West goes, there are no eternal friends, only permanent interests.
00:14:15But we in China believe that friends should be permanent, and we should pursue common
00:14:20interests.
00:14:21With a keen understanding of the trend of history and our times, President Xi Jinping
00:14:28has proposed building a community with a shared future for mankind and called on all countries
00:14:34to transcend disagreements and differences, jointly protect our only planet, and develop
00:14:43together the global village as our common home.
00:14:48This great vision reflects not only the fine tradition of Chinese civilization that the
00:14:55world belongs to all, but also the internationalist commitment of Chinese communists.
00:15:01It enables us to see the well-being of the entire humanity, just like having a bird's
00:15:07eye view of all the mountains that will look small when we stand on the peak, as described
00:15:12in an ancient Chinese poem.
00:15:13We are pleased to see that more and more countries have joined the cause of building a community
00:15:17with a shared future for mankind.
00:15:19Over 100 countries support China's global development initiative, global security initiative,
00:15:24and global civilization initiative, and that more than three-quarters of countries across
00:15:28the world have joined the family of Belt and Road Cooperation.
00:15:32History will prove that a real winner is the one that keeps in mind the interests of all,
00:15:38and that a community with a shared future for mankind will ensure the world belongs
00:15:43to everyone, and that everyone will have a bright future.
00:16:02I'm from Radio Republic Indonesia.
00:16:04My question is, developing countries and small and medium-sized countries are more likely
00:16:09to become victims in an increasingly unstable and unpredictable world.
00:16:14What do you think global countries can do to safeguard their own interests amid the
00:16:18current international landscape?
00:16:21The world today is marked by sweeping winds and surging clouds.
00:16:44The dynamism of these changes originates from the South.
00:16:50The hallmark of our era is the prominent growing strength of the global South.
00:16:56Accounting for over 40 percent of global GDP and contributing as high as 80 percent of
00:17:04global growth, the global South is a key force for maintaining world peace, driving world
00:17:12development, and improving global governance.
00:17:15As the world is undergoing great transformation unseen in a century, historic changes are
00:17:21taking place in the East-West, South-North dynamics.
00:17:28The global South holds the key to bringing stability to the world, making it a better
00:17:33place.
00:17:34The global South should strengthen themselves.
00:17:36Since the beginning of the year, Indonesia has become a full member of BRICS.
00:17:42Let me offer my congratulations.
00:17:44And nine partner countries have joined the BRICS family.
00:17:49BRICS is emerging as a backbone of cooperation and an engine of growth in the global South.
00:17:56The greater BRICS should be made bigger and stronger to give more momentum to the development
00:18:04of the global South.
00:18:07The global South should stand together in unity.
00:18:11This year, China will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit, Brazil the BRICS Summit,
00:18:16and South Africa the G20 Summit.
00:18:20We should speak in one voice to the world, safeguard our common interests, and steadily
00:18:27increase our representation and voice in global governance.
00:18:33The global South should strive for development.
00:18:37Last November, President Xi Jinping announced eight actions that China would take in support
00:18:44of global development, generating new energy for faster global South development.
00:18:50We should keep development as a central international agenda item, build up the momentum, enhance
00:18:57our capacity, and advance hand in hand toward modernization.
00:19:06China is naturally a member of the global South because we have fought colonialism and
00:19:12hegemonism together in history, and we are committed to the common goal of development
00:19:19and globalization.
00:19:21No matter how the world changes, our heart will always be with the global South and our
00:19:28root will grow deeper in the global South.
00:19:31China will work with all global South countries to add a new chapter to the annals of the
00:19:35history of the world.
00:19:47A question from Bloomberg.
00:19:48Direct talks have started between the United States and Russia on ending the war in Ukraine.
00:19:56President Trump has said he would welcome China's help in the process.
00:20:01What role does China think it could play, and under what circumstances would China consider
00:20:08sending peacekeeping troops into Ukraine?
00:20:27Since the first day of the crisis, China has been calling for political settlement,
00:20:32dialogue, and negotiation, and has been actively working for peace and pushing for talks.
00:20:39Shortly after the eruption of the crisis, President Xi Jinping put forth four points
00:20:44on what must be done.
00:20:46An important proposition pointed out by President Xi Jinping is that China should not only
00:20:51put forth four points on what must be done.
00:20:54An important proposition pointed out the way for our efforts.
00:20:58Hence, China released its position paper on the crisis, sent its special representative
00:21:04for South diplomacy, and initiated the Group of Friends for Peace at the United Nations
00:21:11together with Brazil and other global South countries.
00:21:15Our stance has always been objective and impartial.
00:21:18Our voice has always been calm and composed.
00:21:21And our purpose is to create conditions and build consensus for resolving the crisis.
00:21:28China welcomes and supports all efforts for peace.
00:21:32At the same time, it is also important to see the complexity of the causes of the crisis.
00:21:42As the Chinese proverb puts it, it takes more than one cold day to freeze three feet of ice.
00:21:50Likewise, melting of the ice cannot be done overnight.
00:21:53No one wins in a conflict, but everyone gains in peace.
00:21:57The negotiation table is where the conflict ends and peace starts.
00:22:03Although the relevant parties have not had their positions fully arrived,
00:22:07they all hope to have a fair and durable peace deal
00:22:12that is binding and accepted by all the parties concerned.
00:22:17And that is a valuable common point, and all the parties should jointly strive for it.
00:22:25China is ready to work with the international community in light of the wills of the parties to the conflict
00:22:34to continue to play a constructive role in resolving the crisis and realizing lasting peace.
00:22:42One last point on the question.
00:22:44The Ukraine crisis has been dragging on for over three years.
00:22:48In hindsight, the tragedy could have been avoided.
00:22:53All parties should learn something from the crisis.
00:22:59Among many others, security should be mutual and equal,
00:23:03and no country should build its security on the insecurity of another.
00:23:08We should advocate and act on the new vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security.
00:23:15And that is the way to truly realizing lasting peace and security on the Eurasian continent and across the world.
00:23:29The third row in the south.
00:23:31The first lady.
00:23:32Yes.
00:23:36Thank you, Mr. President.
00:23:38Hello, Mr. President.
00:23:39I have a question for the CGTN.
00:23:42DeepSeek has shown the world China's innovation in the field of artificial intelligence.
00:23:50However, some people say that the U.S. is unable to accept China's technological innovation and lead.
00:23:56This is their instinctive response to the rise of Chinese technology.
00:24:01So I would like to ask you, Mr. President,
00:24:05what do you think of China's competition in the field of artificial intelligence?
00:24:12CGTN, the impressive emergence of DeepSeek showcases China's innovation capability in AI.
00:24:19The impressive emergence of DeepSeek showcases China's innovation capability in AI.
00:24:25Some say that the U.S. finds it unacceptable to let China get ahead in science and technology.
00:24:31Its instinctive response to China's technological rise is,
00:24:35if you can't win, just snatch it.
00:24:38If you can't get it, just destroy it.
00:24:40What is your view on China-U.S. competition in science and technology?
00:24:45Recently, China's scientific and technological innovation has more than once defied people's imagination.
00:24:53From breakthroughs in atomic bombs, missiles and satellites decades ago,
00:24:58to the Shenzhou space missions, to the China Lunar Exploration Program,
00:25:01and to 5G, quantum computing, and DeepSeek,
00:25:05generations of the Chinese people have never stopped in their endeavor for innovation
00:25:10and we're witnessing an ever-expanding horizon for China to become a high-tech powerhouse.
00:25:15Admittedly, the journey has not been smooth, be it missile technology, space science or chip making.
00:25:22Unjustified external suppression has never stopped.
00:25:26But where there is blockade, there is breakthrough.
00:25:29Where there is suppression, there is innovation.
00:25:33And where there is the fiercest storm,
00:25:37there is the platform launching China's science and technology skyward,
00:25:42like the Chinese ecological hero Nezha soaring into the heavens.
00:25:46As well put by an ancient Chinese verse,
00:25:49no mountain can stop the surging flow of a mighty river.
00:25:52Likewise, hypothesis and small yards cannot suppress the spirit of innovation
00:25:57and decoupling and supply chain disruptions will only lead to self-isolation.
00:26:02Science and technology should not be used to put up an iron curtain.
00:26:06It should be the wealth that benefits all and is shared by all.
00:26:10To promote common development of humanity,
00:26:13China has taken real measures to implement the Global AI Governance Initiative put forth by President Xi Jinping
00:26:21and released the AI Capacity Building Action Plan for Good and for All.
00:26:25We have also proposed the Initiative on International Cooperation in Open Science
00:26:32together with Brazil, South Africa and the African Union,
00:26:35calling on all to give priority to sci-tech capacity building of the Global South
00:26:39so that no country is left behind.
00:26:42We are ready to share the fruits of our innovation with more countries
00:26:46and jointly explore the mysteries of the stars and oceans.
00:27:01Good morning, I'm from Reuters.
00:27:04Trump has returned to the White House
00:27:06and immediately he has imposed fresh tariffs on China over fentanyl.
00:27:12At the same time, he wants to build a good relationship with China.
00:27:17So my question is, how differently will China engage with the Trump administration
00:27:24over the next four years compared with Trump's first term?
00:27:30Reuters.
00:27:31Trump has returned to the White House
00:27:33and immediately he has imposed fresh tariffs on China over fentanyl.
00:27:39At the same time, he wants to build a good relationship with China.
00:27:43So my question is, how differently will China engage with the Trump administration
00:27:47over the next four years compared with Trump's first term?
00:27:51Mutual respect is a basic norm governing state-to-state relations.
00:28:01It is also an important prerequisite for China-US relations.
00:28:05No country should fantasize that it can suppress China
00:28:11and maintain good relations with China at the same time.
00:28:15Such two-faced acts are not good for the stability of bilateral relations
00:28:20or for building mutual trust.
00:28:23You talk about fentanyl.
00:28:26On fentanyl, it must be made clear at the outset
00:28:30that China always takes resolute measures against drug trafficking manufacturing
00:28:35and China has put in place the toughest and most comprehensive
00:28:39counter-narcotics policy in today's world.
00:28:42As early as in 2019, upon request of the US side,
00:28:46China scheduled all fentanyl-related substances, the first country in the world to do so.
00:28:52But the abuse of fentanyl in the United States
00:28:55is a problem that must be confronted and resolved by the United States itself.
00:29:01On humanitarian grounds, China has been assisting the United States in various ways.
00:29:06The United States should not return good with evil or even impose arbitrary tariffs.
00:29:13No responsible major country should do that.
00:29:17As the Chinese saying goes,
00:29:20if one's action fails, look for the reason within oneself.
00:29:24The United States should go over what has actually happened.
00:29:28What has it achieved from tariff and trade wars these years?
00:29:31Has its trade deficit widened or narrowed?
00:29:34Has its manufacturing become more competitive or less competitive?
00:29:39Has US inflation gone up or down?
00:29:42Has the life of its people got better or worse?
00:29:46China-US business relations are based on two-way and reciprocal interactions.
00:29:53Cooperation will bring about mutual benefit and win-win.
00:29:57And China will definitely take countermeasures in response to arbitrary pressure.
00:30:05As the world's largest developing and developed countries respectively,
00:30:09China and the United States will stay on this planet for a long time.
00:30:14They must, therefore, seek peaceful coexistence.
00:30:18As President Xi Jinping noted in his telephone call with President Donald Trump earlier this year,
00:30:25confrontation and conflict should not be an option.
00:30:30Given the extensive common interests and broad space for cooperation,
00:30:35it is fully possible for China and the United States to become partners,
00:30:39helping each other succeed and prosper together.
00:30:43China will stay committed to the three principles proposed by President Xi Jinping,
00:30:47mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation
00:30:51in promoting steady, sound, and sustainable development of China-US relations.
00:31:00At the same time, we hope that the U.S. side will listen to the calls of the two peoples,
00:31:09see clearly the trend of the times, take an objective and rational view of China's development,
00:31:16engage proactively with China in practical exchanges,
00:31:19and work together with China to pursue the right way of getting along with each other
00:31:25to the benefit of the two countries and the whole world.
00:32:00People's Daily.
00:32:01This year is the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's China year.
00:32:05How does China see the current role of the SCO?
00:32:08What proposals will China put forward during its presidency?
00:32:12And what topics will be discussed at the upcoming SCO summit in China?
00:32:21Indeed, this year is SCO's China year.
00:32:23The SCO was born in China and named after Shanghai.
00:32:28This means something special to us.
00:32:30We are very pleased to welcome it home.
00:32:39It is even more heartening that the SCO has grown through the past 24 years
00:32:47from a six-member organization to a big family consisting of 26 countries.
00:32:53It has become a regional cooperation organization with the largest geographical area and population.
00:33:01The key to SCO's growth lies in its commitment to the Shanghai spirit.
00:33:07In its adherence to the founding principles of mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality,
00:33:14consultation, respect for diversity of civilization, and pursuit of common development,
00:33:20and in its success in charting a new path for regional cooperation.
00:33:24As the rotating president, China is putting together more than 100 events in political, security, economic,
00:33:33and the people-to-people fields under the theme of upholding the Shanghai spirit, SCO on the move.
00:33:39We will take real actions to carry forward the Shanghai spirit and promote the SCO's development.
00:33:50I would like to let you know that China will host the SCO summit in Tianjin this autumn.
00:34:00Leaders will get together by the Haihe River to reflect on SCO's accomplishments,
00:34:08plan the future, and build consensus for cooperation.
00:34:13It will help the SCO embark on a new journey from China
00:34:17and make the organization a more close-knit community with a shared future.
00:34:25I would like to ask the second lady in the middle, the lady in the white top.
00:34:32Hello, Mr. President.
00:34:33I have a question for the Global Times.
00:34:35There is an opinion that the current international order is at its most dangerous moment since World War II.
00:34:41The role and authority of the United Nations is being weakened.
00:34:45How should China deal with this situation?
00:34:50In addition, what role will China play in this situation?
00:35:12This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Second World War.
00:35:18Around the end of World War II, the most important decision the international community made
00:35:24was to establish the UN and make it the primary platform for maintaining world peace and promoting global governance.
00:35:32Facts have shown that the UN has withstood tests and has been instrumental.
00:35:37Today, there have been fundamental changes in the world situation.
00:35:41Unilateralism is on the rise and power politics runs rampant.
00:35:46Some countries have voiced skepticism of one kind or another about the UN.
00:35:51But China believes that the more complex the problems, the greater the need to accentuate the important status of the UN.
00:35:58The more pressing the challenges, the greater the need to uphold the due authority of the UN.
00:36:06All countries want to prevent the world from returning to the law of the jungle.
00:36:10To this end, the first thing to do is to cement the cornerstone of sovereign equality.
00:36:15All countries, regardless of their size and strength, should be recognized as equal members of the international community.
00:36:21Those with stronger arms and bigger fists should not be allowed to call the shots.
00:36:27Second, the principle of fairness and justice must be upheld.
00:36:32International affairs must not be monopolized by a small number of countries.
00:36:37Greater attention should be given to the voice of the global south.
00:36:40The legitimate rights and interests of all countries should be fully protected.
00:36:44Third, multilateralism must be observed.
00:36:48Countries should stay committed to the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefit,
00:36:55replace bloc confrontation with inclusive collaboration and shatter small circles with greater solidarity.
00:37:02Fourth, the authority of the international rule of law must be strengthened.
00:37:06Major countries in particular should take the lead in upholding integrity, embracing the rule of law
00:37:11and opposing double standards and selective application.
00:37:14Still less should they resort to bullying, monopoly, trickery or extortion.
00:37:19China is a founder and beneficiary of the post-World War II international order.
00:37:27Naturally, we are an advocate and builder of it as well.
00:37:32We have no intention to start all over again, nor do we support any country's attempt to overturn the current order.
00:37:39China is well aware of its international responsibility as a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
00:37:46It will firmly safeguard the central role of the UN, come forward to be a pillar of the multilateral system
00:37:52and speak up for justice for the global south.
00:37:56Last month, at the UN Security Council, China chaired the High-Level Meeting on Practicing Multilateralism,
00:38:03Reforming and Improving Global Governance.
00:38:07More than a hundred countries signed up to attend, kicking off the commemorations of the UN's 80th anniversary.
00:38:17China is ready to work with all sides to reflect on the founding vision of the UN,
00:38:25observe the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, and build a more just and equitable global governance system.
00:38:43Thank you, Foreign Minister. This is a question for Anadolu Agency, Turkey.
00:38:49I want to ask you about U.S. President Donald Trump announced his plans to take over and own Gaza
00:38:57and resettle the Palestinians living there to neighboring countries.
00:39:02So this plan was announced last month.
00:39:05I wonder what do you think about this plan, this U.S. plan, and future development of Gaza,
00:39:14and what role China might play for the peace and stability in the Middle East? Thank you.
00:39:45You asked a good question for the Arab guy before you.
00:39:54And on behalf of all the brothers and sisters of the Arab world, I think it's a very good question.
00:40:00Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people. It is an inseparable part of the Palestinian territory.
00:40:07Changing its status by forceful means will not bring about peace, but only will it fail.
00:40:14We support the plan for restoring peace in Gaza initiated by Egypt and other Arab countries.
00:40:24The will of the people must not be defied, and the principle of justice must not be abandoned.
00:40:30If a major country truly cares about the people in Gaza, it should promote comprehensive and lasting ceasefire,
00:40:37ramp up humanitarian assistance, observe the principle of Palestinians governing Palestine,
00:40:42and contribute to the reconstruction in Gaza.
00:40:45Without Middle East peace, the world will not be stable.
00:40:50The Palestinian question has always been at the heart of the Middle East issue.
00:40:55Israeli-Palestinian conflict takes place again and again simply because the two-state solution is only half achieved.
00:41:02The state of Israel has long been a reality, but the state of Palestine is still far beyond reach.
00:41:09Going forward, the international community should focus more on the two-state solution
00:41:14and give more support to independent statehood for Palestine.
00:41:19Only then could Palestine and Israel truly coexist in peace,
00:41:28and the Arab and Jewish peoples live side by side in enduring amity.
00:41:35To this end, first, all Palestinian factions need to deliver on the Beijing Declaration to achieve unity and self-strengthening.
00:41:45All parties in the Middle East need to rise above differences to support Palestinian statehood,
00:41:51and the international community needs to build consensus and promote peace between Palestine and Israel.
00:41:58China is a strategic partner of Middle East countries and a sincere friend of our Arab brothers.
00:42:05We will continue to strive resolutely for justice, peace, and development for the Middle East people
00:42:13and support countries in the region in taking their future in their own hands,
00:42:18independently exploring their development path and realizing the dream of peace and revitalization at an early date.
00:42:34Good morning. I'm from the News Agency of Nigeria.
00:42:38Last year, China successfully held the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
00:42:46And earlier this year, in January, you made Africa your first overseas destination, visiting Nigeria, Namibia, Chad, and Congo.
00:42:55So now, how will China help deliver on the outcomes of the FOCAC Summit?
00:43:00And at the same time, how will China help Africa improve better on its prosperity and development considering current challenges?
00:43:17China and Africa are always good friends, good partners, and good brothers with a shared future.
00:43:37Under the guidance of President Xi Jinping and African leaders, China-Africa relationship is now at its best in history.
00:43:46China has established strategic partnership with all African countries having diplomatic ties with it.
00:43:55The China-Africa community with a shared future has been elevated to an all-weather level.
00:44:01This year marks the 25th anniversary of FOCAC.
00:44:05Over the past 25 years, China has helped Africa build or upgrade nearly 100,000 kilometers of roads and more than 10,000 kilometers of railways.
00:44:19In the past three years alone, Chinese enterprises created more than 1.1 million new jobs in Africa.
00:44:28China has remained Africa's largest trade partner for 16 consecutive years.
00:44:34To African brothers and sisters, China-Africa cooperation is visible, tangible, and truly beneficial.
00:44:41Last year, a Gambian farmer sent a bag of rice he grew all the way to Hunan province in China to show respect to Yuan Longping, the father of hybrid rice.
00:44:56It is China's hybrid rice that has helped end hunger and bring hope to them.
00:45:00Stories like these are happening in Africa every day.
00:45:04Africa is a fertile land of hope of the 21st century.
00:45:10There will be no global modernization without African modernization.
00:45:15The stability of development of Africa is vital to the future of humanity, and the world must listen to Africa and heed its concerns.
00:45:26Africa is going through a new awakening, and countries should support Africa in exploring a new development path of self-reliance and self-strengthening.
00:45:38This year marks the beginning of implementing the outcomes of FOCAC Beijing Summit.
00:45:42China stands ready to deliver on the 10 partnership actions for China and Africa to jointly advance modernization,
00:45:49including supporting Africa in accelerating its industrialization and agricultural modernization,
00:45:55implementing zero-tariff treatment for 100% tariff lines, fostering new growth drivers like digital, green, and AI industries,
00:46:05promoting 1,000 small and beautiful livelihood projects, enhancing governance experience sharing,
00:46:12and raising the representation and voice of Africa in international affairs.
00:46:18This year, the G20 Summit will be held on the African continent for the first time.
00:46:25China firmly supports South Africa in carrying out its duty as G20 President
00:46:30and in leaving a distinctively African mark in global governance.
00:46:56Phoenix TV. For some time, there has been a narrative in a few countries
00:47:01that Resolution 2758 of the UN General Assembly is not equivalent to the one-China principle,
00:47:07does not make clear of the sovereignty of Taiwan, and does not prevent Taiwan from participating in international organizations.
00:47:14What is your response to that?
00:47:16Such a narrative is a blatant challenge to the authority of the UN and the post-war international order.
00:47:23It is extremely absurd and dangerous.
00:47:26Those who spread it could use some help to improve their common sense.
00:47:31Taiwan is an inalienable part of the international community.
00:47:35It is a part of the world.
00:47:37Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory.
00:47:40This is the history and the reality.
00:47:43This year marks the 80th anniversary of the recovery of Taiwan.
00:47:48Eight decades ago, the victory of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression
00:47:55put Taiwan back under China's sovereign jurisdiction.
00:47:58Both the Cairo Declaration and the post-war international order
00:48:02issued by major victorious nations of World War II
00:48:05stated in explicit terms that Taiwan is a territory that Japan has stolen from the Chinese
00:48:10and shall be restored to China.
00:48:12Japan also accepted the terms of the post-war international order
00:48:15and announced its unconditional surrender.
00:48:17All these have confirmed China's sovereignty over Taiwan
00:48:20and formed an important part of the post-war international order.
00:48:26Resolution 2758 was later adopted in 1971 by the UN General Assembly
00:48:31with an overwhelming majority.
00:48:33It decides to restore all the lawful rights of the People's Republic of China at the UN
00:48:38and expel forthwith the representatives of the Taiwan authorities from the UN
00:48:43and all the organizations related to it.
00:48:46Once and for all, this resolution resolved the issue of the representation of Taiwan
00:48:51Once and for all, this resolution resolved the issue of the representation of the whole of China
00:48:57including Taiwan in the UN
00:48:59and precluded any possibility of creating two Chinas or one China, one Taiwan.
00:49:06The only reference to the Taiwan region in the UN is Taiwan province of China.
00:49:12Taiwan is never a country, not in the past and never in the future.
00:49:18To clamor for Taiwan independence is to split the country.
00:49:22To support Taiwan independence is to interfere in China's internal affairs
00:49:27and to connive at Taiwan independence is to undermine the stability of the Taiwan Strait.
00:49:33The principle of sovereignty is the cornerstone of the UN Charter.
00:49:37No country or individual should adopt any kind of double standard.
00:49:41Respect for all countries' sovereignty and territorial integrity
00:49:45should mean support for China's complete reunification
00:49:49and commitment to one China should mean opposition to any form of Taiwan independence.
00:49:55Realizing China's complete reunification is a shared aspiration of the Chinese nation.
00:50:01It is an inevitable trend and it is what the greater national interests entail.
00:50:06Seeking Taiwan independence is doomed to backfire
00:50:09and using Taiwan to contain China will be nothing but a futile attempt.
00:50:14China will realize reunification and this is unstoppable.
00:50:32I represent Associated Press of Pakistan.
00:50:36China attaches great importance to its relation with neighboring countries.
00:50:42However, the U.S. deployment of mid-range capability missile system in the region has caused tension.
00:50:50Some of China's neighbors face rising security risks
00:50:57which add uncertainty to China's neighboring environment.
00:51:01While China's neighbors expect to share in the benefit of China's development,
00:51:08they worry about the potential impact of Chinese goods on their own industries.
00:51:14How does China see the current situation in its neighborhood?
00:51:19Any new consideration for China's foreign policy towards this region?
00:51:38Since the beginning of this century, Asia has maintained rapid growth
00:51:42and become a leading force for global development
00:51:45and a shining example of peace and prosperity.
00:51:49Since the beginning of this century, Asia has maintained a rapid growth and become
00:52:04a leading force for global development and a shining example of peace and
00:52:09stability. This has not come easily and should be
00:52:12cherished with great care. Asia is where China calls home and builds
00:52:17its future. It is also the common home for China
00:52:21and fellow Asian countries. Following the principle of amity,
00:52:25sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness on neighborhood diplomacy
00:52:29put forward by President Xi Jinping, China has opened up new prospects in
00:52:34developing friendship and cooperation with its neighbors.
00:52:37To date, China has reached common understanding on building a community
00:52:41and a shared future with 17 neighboring countries in two clusters in Indochina
00:52:48Peninsula and Central Asia respectively. In our neighborhood, we have signed
00:52:53Belt and Road Cooperation Agreements with 25 countries and remain the largest
00:52:59trading partner of 18 countries. Today's China is an anchor of stability,
00:53:05engine of economic development, and pillar of regional security and
00:53:10cooperation. That said, it is common for neighbors
00:53:13to not agree on everything. Issues left from the past and the conflict
00:53:18of immediate interest should both be properly handled.
00:53:22But we believe that harmony is key to a prosperous family in all endeavors.
00:53:27As long as we remain committed to the vision of a common home, stick to the goal
00:53:31of building a community with a shared future, and follow the principles of equal
00:53:36footed consultation, mutual understanding, and mutual accommodation,
00:53:39we will be able to resolve differences, work with one another, and achieve
00:53:43win-win results. In the meantime, China will continue to
00:53:46open wider to neighboring countries, including through unilateral initiatives,
00:53:50and share more development benefits with its neighbors.
00:53:53You mentioned the U.S. deployment of mid-range missile system in the region.
00:53:57China is firmly opposed to such attempt, and it is not welcomed by regional
00:54:03countries either. Years have passed since the U.S.
00:54:07released its Indo-Pacific strategy, but what has it done for regional countries?
00:54:12Nothing except for stirring up troubles and creating disputes.
00:54:17It has proved to be more of a disruptive factor than a constructive contributor.
00:54:22Asia is not an arena for big power rivalry. It should become a demonstration field
00:54:27for international cooperation. We believe that it's important to
00:54:30practice open regionalism and sharing Asia's development opportunities based
00:54:34on mutual respect and win-win cooperation. Thank you.
00:54:37请中区第四排中间位置那位男士,法新社的记者提问。
00:54:42Thank you. Good morning, Foreign Minister.
00:54:50Question from AFP. China and the European Union are in the
00:54:54middle of long-running commercial tensions involving investigations over
00:54:58the renewables and electric vehicle sectors in particular.
00:55:02How does the Foreign Ministry see relations with the bloc evolving despite
00:55:06those tensions? Thank you.
00:59:24Meanwhile, I've also noticed that among people from other countries,
00:59:28discovering and embracing China is also becoming a trend.
00:59:36By travelling to China or through social media platforms,
00:59:41more people have seen a China that is safe, open and modern,
00:59:47and got to know the friendly, open-minded and witty Chinese people.
00:59:52A young man from America said he had received profound positivity from the Chinese people.
00:59:59The people have come to their conclusion,
01:00:03and it is like sunshine that dispels the mist of prejudice.
01:00:07Heart-to-heart communication has the power to break down all barriers.
01:00:10It is time to get rid of this information cocoon and take off your tinted glasses,
01:00:15and people of all countries are welcome to see with their own eyes a real and vivid China
01:00:21and feel with their heart the dynamism and drive of the 1.4 billion Chinese people.
01:00:29The third gentleman in the first row in the North District, please.
01:00:37Thank you, President.
01:00:38Good evening, Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
01:00:39I have a question for you.
01:00:41Since November last year,
01:00:43Japanese Prime Minister Shi Bo-mao and President Xi Jinping have been in frequent contact with each other
01:00:49after the meeting in Peru.
01:00:53The relationship between the two countries is getting more and more active.
01:00:56However, there are still many problems between the two countries.
01:01:01What is your view on the current relationship between the two countries?
01:01:06In order to promote a comprehensive relationship between the two countries,
01:01:12what actions do you expect to take to promote cooperation between the two countries in the future?
01:01:18Japan urges China to release the ban as soon as possible
01:01:23and to re-import Japanese water bottles.
01:01:26Do you have any positive response to the concerns and expectations of Japan
01:01:32about the re-importation of safe recycling products?
01:01:37Kyoto News.
01:01:38Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Peru last November.
01:01:44This was then followed by visits to China by the Japanese Foreign Minister and business leaders.
01:01:49China-Japan ties are warming, but issues remain.
01:01:52How would you comment on the current relationship?
01:01:55What more can we expect in measures to promote cooperation
01:01:59in order for the strategic relationship of mutual benefit to advance across the board?
01:02:04And does China have plans to respond favorably to Japan's concerns and expectations
01:02:09on issues concerning aquatic imports and China's business environment?
01:02:15Last November, leaders of the two countries reached important common understandings
01:02:21by following the four political documents between China and Japan,
01:02:25comprehensively advancing the strategic relationship of mutual benefit
01:02:29and building a constructive and stable China-Japan relationship fit for the new era.
01:02:34With concerted efforts, bilateral relations have demonstrated a momentum of improvement and growth.
01:02:40We welcome enhanced exchanges, deeper mutual beneficial cooperation
01:02:46and stronger goodwill between all sectors of our society.
01:02:50All these are in the long-term interests of both sides.
01:02:53As for the specific concerns of the Japanese side in your question,
01:02:57China will handle them responsibly and properly in accordance with laws and regulations.
01:03:04Here, let me highlight another point.
01:03:08This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression.
01:03:14To remember history, we can better shape the future.
01:03:17To forget history, one may lose his direction going forward.
01:03:21The Japanese militarists committed heinous crimes to the people in China and all over Asia.
01:03:31They brought immense suffering for the Japanese side as well.
01:03:35Guarding against the revival of militarism is a duty that Japan must carry out without a moment of relaxation.
01:03:44This is also the firm resolve of the Chinese and Asian people that will not be challenged.
01:03:50In the test of conscience and integrity,
01:03:53the right choice for Japan is to abide by the principles enshrined in its pacifist constitution
01:03:59and keep to the path of peaceful development.
01:04:03The One-China Principle is the political foundation for China-Japan relations.
01:04:07Eighty years have passed since Taiwan returned to China,
01:04:11yet some unrepentant individuals in Japan are still working in the shadows with the so-called Taiwan independence forces.
01:04:19Here is our message for them.
01:04:22Stop the propaganda that a Taiwan emergency is a Japanese emergency.
01:04:27The truth is, to provoke trouble in the name of Taiwan is to invite trouble to Japan.
01:04:33There is a long history of ties between China and Japan.
01:04:36Japan knows best that China is a peace-loving country and a trustworthy neighbor with good intentions.
01:04:44For more than a thousand years, China has meant opportunities, not threats, for Japan.
01:04:50What is the right way of being neighbors?
01:04:53And which is the right side of history?
01:04:56Faced with historical transformations,
01:04:58the bright minds in Japan need to think carefully about these questions and follow good advice.
01:05:15The American Secretary of State made his first trip to Latin America last month
01:05:20and threatened to take measures against Panama if it didn't distance itself from China.
01:05:27Other countries in the region have also been threatened.
01:05:30What will China do to counter this pressure?
01:05:33And will this be a topic at the upcoming China Select Forum?
01:05:45China's cooperation with Latin America and the Caribbean, or LAC countries, is South-to-South cooperation.
01:05:51There is only mutual support.
01:05:53No country can be a partner.
01:05:55China is a partner.
01:05:57China is a partner.
01:05:59China is a partner.
01:06:01China is a partner.
01:06:03China is a partner.
01:06:05China is a partner.
01:06:07China is a partner.
01:06:09China is a partner.
01:06:11China is a partner.
01:06:13China is a partner.
01:06:15China is a partner.
01:06:17China is a partner.
01:06:19China is a partner.
01:06:21China is a partner.
01:06:23China is a partner.
01:06:25China is a partner.
01:06:27China is a partner.
01:06:29China is a partner.
01:06:31China is a partner.
01:06:33China is a partner.
01:06:35China is a partner.
01:06:37China is a partner.
01:06:39Cooperation between China and LAC countries has won popular support
01:06:43because it respects the will of the people, meets the needs of regional countries,
01:06:47and provides reliable options and broad prospects for the revitalization of the region.
01:06:53In the new era, under the guidance of President Xi Jinping and the leaders of LAC countries,
01:06:59and boosted by the China Select Forum,
01:07:03we have produced fruitful outcomes in building the China-LAC community relationship
01:07:09and delivered benefits to all our people.
01:07:12This year marks the 10th anniversary of the formal launch of the China Select Forum.
01:07:16China will host the fourth ministerial meeting of the forum in the first half of this year.
01:07:21Taking this as an opportunity, the two sides will come together,
01:07:24over the mountains and the oceans, and regardless of all disturbances,
01:07:28to take China-LAC cooperation to a higher level.
01:08:01Dragon TV.
01:08:03For years, China has been a growth engine for the world,
01:08:06but in recent years, the global economy has been weak
01:08:09and the Chinese economy has encountered challenges.
01:08:13What do you think of China's economic performance this year,
01:08:16and what measures can we expect from the diplomatic front
01:08:19to facilitate Chinese modernization and China's economic recovery?
01:08:31The Chinese economy registered a 5% growth last year,
01:08:35continuing to stand out among the world's major economies,
01:08:40and we pulled it off amid a nationwide push for green transition,
01:08:46amid lackluster growth worldwide,
01:08:51and amid unilateral sanctions and suppression from the United States.
01:08:58It shows the distinct feature of the Chinese economy,
01:09:03go-get-it-against-all-odds.
01:09:06As President Xi Jinping pointed out,
01:09:09we always grow in wind and rain, and we get stronger through hard times.
01:09:14Whether it was the global financial crisis or the COVID-19 pandemic,
01:09:20did the Chinese economy ever fail to withstand the immense challenges
01:09:26and achieve even better development?
01:09:29Our confidence comes from China's supersized market and huge domestic demand,
01:09:34from China's robust industries and innovative drive,
01:09:39and more importantly, from China's institutional strength and reform and opening up.
01:09:45As people often say, the next China is still China.
01:09:51The Chinese miracle of unprecedented high-speed growth
01:09:55will be followed by even more remarkable high-quality development.
01:10:01China's foreign service will continue to provide solid strategic underpinning
01:10:08and foster a favorable external environment for Chinese modernization.
01:10:13We will create more convenient channels for two-way travel.
01:10:17So far, China has granted unilateral visa-free entry to 38 countries
01:10:23and extended the transit visa-free period to 240 hours for 54 countries.
01:10:29More countries may join our visa-free circle of friends,
01:10:33sustaining the popularity of China travel around the world.
01:10:38We will introduce more efficient foreign affairs services,
01:10:42coordinate resources at different levels,
01:10:44innovate and upgrade MFA's signature program of presenting the provinces of China
01:10:50and build bridges of cooperation in China's further opening up.
01:10:55We will work for a better business environment,
01:10:58steadily expand institutional opening up,
01:11:01advance voluntary opening up in an orderly manner,
01:11:04continue unilateral opening up to the least developed countries,
01:11:08further cut down the negative list, lower the threshold of market access,
01:11:13and keep China as the go-to partner for international cooperation.
01:11:44What progress have China and ASEAN countries made
01:11:47in the consultations on a code of conduct in the South China Sea?
01:11:51And what are the major obstacles?
01:11:53Will frictions between China and the Philippines in the South China Sea
01:11:57over the past year dim the prospects for cooperation?
01:12:14And how does China plan to enhance mutual trust with ASEAN countries
01:12:18and remove the roadblocks in order to achieve an early conclusion of the COC?
01:12:26Last year, with joint efforts by China and ASEAN countries,
01:12:31the South China Sea maintained peace and stability
01:12:36and remained the safest and busiest waters for international navigation and overflight.
01:12:43China and Indonesia signed an intergovernmental document on maritime joint development.
01:12:49China and Malaysia launched a bilateral dialogue on management of maritime issues.
01:12:56China has established maritime dialogue mechanisms with all countries concerned.
01:13:05These are proof that there is no problem that cannot be solved through dialogue
01:13:10and no goals that cannot be reached with cooperation.
01:13:15You mentioned the frictions between China and the Philippines.
01:13:20At an international forum a few weeks ago,
01:13:23an official from a regional country noted that the Philippine moves to create frictions
01:13:29are like a shadow play, which is a vivid analogy.
01:13:35For every move on the sea by the Philippines, there is a screenplay written by external forces.
01:13:43The show is live-streamed by Western media, and the plot is invariably to smear China.
01:13:53People are no longer interested in watching the same performance again and again.
01:13:59China will continue to safeguard its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests in accordance with law.
01:14:06When managing the situation at Ren'ai Jiao and Huayen Dao,
01:14:10we will also take into account the actual conditions out of a humanitarian spirit.
01:14:16But let me make it clear that infringement and provocation will backfire,
01:14:22and those acting as others' chess pieces are bound to be discarded.
01:14:28To realize good neighborliness, lasting peace and security in the South China Sea,
01:14:33one needs trust and also rules.
01:14:36The key is to implement the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea, or DOC,
01:14:41and develop a sound COC.
01:14:44With China's facilitation, consultations on the COC are accelerating,
01:14:48and a third reading of the text has been completed.
01:14:51We have full confidence in the prospect of concluding the COC.
01:14:55China is ready to work with ASEAN countries to step up communication,
01:14:59stay clear of disturbances, and build consensus for an early conclusion of the COC,
01:15:04so as to make the South China Sea a sea of peace, friendship and cooperation.
01:15:25QUESTION IN CHINESE
01:15:47Beijing Daily.
01:15:48This year is the 30th anniversary of the fourth Women World Conference on Women.
01:15:53In 2020, President Xi Jinping offered to hold another Global Women's Summit in 2025,
01:16:00and pledged to double down on gender equality and make women's rights and interests a national commitment.
01:16:06Could you brief us on the preparations?
01:16:09How will China further contribute to the advancement of the global cause of women's development?
01:16:16It will be the International Women's Day tomorrow.
01:16:21Let me take this opportunity to express my warm greetings to all women on this special day.
01:16:28In 1995, the fourth World Conference on Women was held in Beijing.
01:16:35The Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action adopted at the conference
01:16:41became a milestone in the global pursuit of gender equality.
01:16:46On the occasion of its 30th anniversary and as a follow-up to President Xi's proposal,
01:16:52China will convene a Global Leaders' Meeting on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment in the latter half of this year.
01:17:01Over the past three decades, China has acted on the spirit of the 1995 conference
01:17:07and made historic achievements in women's development in China.
01:17:11We have upheld gender equality as our basic state policy
01:17:15and carried out national action plans dedicated to the all-round development of women.
01:17:20Countless outstanding women have become role models of our times,
01:17:24making their important contributions to Chinese modernization.
01:17:27Over the past three decades, China has led the advancement of the global cause of women's development through concrete actions.
01:17:35We have supported the work of UN Women, partnered with UNESCO in setting up the Prize for Girls' and Women's Education,
01:17:44helped fellow developing countries in implementing 100 maternal and child health projects,
01:17:50and trained over 200,000 female professionals from more than 180 countries and regions.
01:17:58Thirty years ago, Beijing bore witness to the determination of the world's women to seek gender equality.
01:18:05This year, people will gather again in Beijing to discuss major issues concerning women's development worldwide.
01:18:12We look forward to seeing more women live life to the full and realize their dreams.
01:18:28Thank you, Mr. Prime Minister.
01:18:39My question relates to India-China relations.
01:18:43The two countries finally managed to achieve a breakthrough last year
01:18:49after a prolonged perhaps over four years of rather freezing relations.
01:18:55The leaders of the two countries met at Kazan last year on the highlands of the BRICS,
01:19:01followed by a series of meetings, including your own meetings with our National Security Advisor
01:19:08under the Special Representative for the Boundary Mechanism, as well as our own Foreign Minister, Dr. S.J. Shankar.
01:19:18So how do you see the relations progressing in these very turbulent times?
01:19:26We would like to hear your thoughts on the future of India-China relations as China sees it. Thank you.
01:19:36India-China relations have made positive strides over the past year.
01:20:05The successful meeting between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kazan last October
01:20:12provided strategic guidance for the improvement and development of the bilateral ties.
01:20:18Both sides have earnestly followed through on the important common understandings of our leaders,
01:20:23strengthened exchanges and practical cooperation at all levels, and achieved a series of positive outcomes.
01:20:31China and India are each other's largest neighbors.
01:20:34China always believes that the two should be partners that contribute to each other's success.
01:20:40A cooperative pas de deux of the dragon and the elephant is the only right choice for both sides.
01:20:46As the two largest developing countries, China and India have a shared task to accelerate our country's development and revitalization.
01:20:54There is every reason for us to support each other rather than undercut each other,
01:20:58work with each other rather than guard against each other.
01:21:01This is the path that truly serves the fundamental interests of the two countries and peoples.
01:21:07As two ancient civilizations, we have enough wisdom and capability to maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas
01:21:16pending a fair and reasonable solution.
01:21:19We should never allow bilateral relations to be defined by the boundary question
01:21:26or let specific differences affect the overall picture of our bilateral ties.
01:21:32As important members of the Global South, we have the responsibility to take the lead in opposing hegemonism and power politics.
01:21:40We must not only safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of our countries,
01:21:44but also uphold the basic norms governing international relations.
01:21:48When China and India join hands, the prospects for greater democracy in international relations
01:21:53and a stronger Global South will improve greatly.
01:21:57This year marks the 75th anniversary of China-India diplomatic relations.
01:22:03China stands ready to work with India to sum up past experience, forge a path forward,
01:22:08and advance China-India relations on the track of sound and stable development.
01:22:51China News Service
01:22:52Last year, China safely evacuated and brought back over 10,000 nationals overseas.
01:22:58Recently, cross-border crimes like online gambling and telecom fraud have received much public attention.
01:23:05Some think this will impact the people-to-people exchanges between China and relevant countries.
01:23:11With more Chinese people traveling abroad,
01:23:13how will the Ministry of Foreign Affairs better protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens overseas?
01:23:23The central party leadership attaches great importance to the Chinese nationals overseas,
01:23:29and their well-being and safety has always been our priorities.
01:23:33In 2024, in addition to safely evacuating more than 10,000 Chinese citizens from Lebanon, Haiti,
01:23:43and other high-risk areas, we processed more than 50,000 consular protection cases,
01:23:50handled over 500,000 calls on the consular service hotline 12308,
01:23:55and issued more than 5,000 safety alerts.
01:23:59Our goal is, no matter where you are, the motherland will never be far.
01:24:04Online gambling and telecom fraud is a matter of grave concern to the people,
01:24:10hence an issue that we must keep a firm hand on.
01:24:13Recently, thanks to support from leaders of China and the neighboring countries,
01:24:17law enforcement authorities and diplomatic services have conducted effective cross-border cooperation
01:24:23and made all-out efforts to save stranded Chinese citizens.
01:24:33The telecom fraud parks in northern Myanmar near the border region with China have all been removed.
01:24:43In the Thailand-Myanmar border region, China has joined forces with Thailand.
01:24:47Myanmar allows the crackdown on telecom fraud.
01:24:51Our mission is to cut off the manipulating hands grasping at the people
01:24:56and to remove the malignancy of telecom fraud.
01:25:00In 2025, we will focus on three aspects to build the system
01:25:05for the protection of Chinese nationals and interests overseas.
01:25:09First, we will build an international cooperation platform
01:25:12to protect the safety of overseas Chinese citizens.
01:25:15We will deepen cooperation on safety protection with other countries,
01:25:19especially with the BRI partner countries and Lancang-Mekong countries,
01:25:23and expand the circle of friends for mutual assistance.
01:25:26Second, we will make good use of the consular service hotline,
01:25:30providing inquiries and assistance 24-7 without time difference.
01:25:35Third, we will improve the risk alert and emergency response coordination mechanism,
01:25:40providing overseas Chinese with efficient consular protection and assistance
01:25:46and more assurances to the people.
01:25:54This ends our press conference today.
01:25:56Thank you, Prime Minister. Thank you all.
