Detectives searching for Rania Alayed, who was murdered by her husband 11 years ago, have found human remains near a lay-by on the A19 in Thirsk, North Yorkshire.

The discovery came after Ahmed Al-Khatib, who is serving life for her murder, led police to the site.

Alayed, 25, was killed in Salford, Greater Manchester, in 2013, but her body was never found.

Her son Yazan Khatib, 21, said he hopes to finally give his mother a proper resting place.

Police have yet to confirm the identity of the remains.
