A heartbroken man who lost his fiancée to cancer is walking around 5,000 miles to Ghana- to spread her ashes.

Daniel Forrester, 47, lost his partner Caroline Sarpong, 45, on November 11 after a long battle with colon cancer.

Now, he is travelling on foot from the Essex hospice Caroline spent her final days in, all the way to Kumasi in Ghana - to fulfil his final promise to the late mum-of-two.

This dangerous trip across the African continent will see him pass through areas of “extreme heat”, political unrest and even face potential threats of “kidnapping”.

But the dad-of-three is determined to complete the year-long expedition to spread Caroline’s ashes in the place she called home from age seven to 19.

Although his final itinerary has not been confirmed yet, his current route will take him through Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal, Guinea, the Ivory Coast and into Ghana.
