Ateneo blanks UP, claims first win in UAAP women's volley  The Ateneo Blue Eagles blanked the UP Fighting Maroons, 25-18, 25-22, 25-18, at the Mall of Asia Arena on February 23, 2025 to claim their first win in the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball tournament.  Sobe Buena pumped 17 points including the cross court clincher to lead the Blue Eagles, who snapped a two-game skid and ended the Maroons' two-game winning start to the season. 00:13You're now, you're down by 12 strong, but you're still able to pull this off.

00:18So what can you say about your girls' effort this game against UP? What can you say?

00:24Yeah. First, congrats for the whole team.

00:32When everybody play good, because the team play good.

00:38And I give my congrats to Tats, because when the whole spiker play good, because the setter play very good.

00:49But especially in this match, our service work like our plan.

00:56And our service is our first attack.

01:01And this pressure in the whole set, it's so important.

01:06And the other one, when the UP play in front of us in the second set,

01:13the team continues to play, continues in the plan, follow the system.

01:18And in the end, we can win 3-0.

01:24You had 12 of 32 attacks, 2 service cases, 6 digs, and 4 excellent receptions.

01:30So, yeah, you're slouching in the first two matches, but this time around, you're able to pull this off.

01:37So, despite everything that happened in the opening week, what can you say? Being a leader, what can you say?

01:42Siguro for me, makakatulong samin dito ng sobra to boost our confidence.

01:47And we really know kung ano yung capable kami sa laro namin.

01:52And I know may mas mapapakita pa kami throughout this season.

02:05So, how does it feel to help your team win? What can you say?

02:09For me, it feels really good to be able to be back on the court.

02:12Because I think today, we played not just for us 12 on the court, not just for our coaching staff, but for the Ateneo community.

02:18And also, of course, for Zel and JLo.

02:20So, we're really grateful that we got this win.

02:22And I wouldn't have gotten Pog without my teammates.
