00:00At the Hatol ng Bayan 2025, some candidates are choosing so-called armored vehicles for their own safety.
00:09This is what Denise Osorio reported.
00:13Security issues are usually given attention not only by politicians, but also by businessmen every day.
00:21For them, the so-called peace of mind is important, not only for themselves, but also for their loved ones.
00:29Aside from hiring personal security men, the use of armored vehicles is also becoming more and more popular in the country.
00:37According to Hans Tan, CEO of Luxury Cars Manila, the priority of their clients, like business leaders, is their safety.
00:45Majority of our clients are really business people whose opinions matter, who run companies, who are high net worth, who have responsibilities.
01:16To make a car bullet-resistant, it usually costs from P5.5 million to P26 million, depending on its armoring level.
01:28For worldwide NATO and CEN standards, there's a lot of different types.
01:34Here in the Philippines, I make it simple. There's handgun, there's assault rifle protection.
01:39But Tan clarified, the armored vehicles were made to give a specific target a chance to leave the hot zone or ambush area.
01:49Like everything else, a bullet-resistant vehicle also has limitations, even if it's covered with steel plates and ballistic materials.
02:20To get from where you're being ambushed, which is what we call the hot zone, to safety.
02:26In the end, Tan said that nothing is more important to a person than his own life.
02:32The armored vehicles are there as the first line of defense against the bad elements of society.
02:39We always get this phrase, I have no enemies.
02:43And the fact is, it's not that you have no enemies, you're not going to have anyone who's going to try to hurt you.
02:51The worst thing is somebody's jealous of your business, somebody wants you gone.
02:56Denise Osorio for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
